About

Los Angeles post-grunge outfit Badflower have gained a meaningful reputation for hard-hitting and melodic rock anthems covering themes around mental health and addiction. Comprising singer/guitarist Josh Katz, guitarist Joey Morrow, bassist Alex Espiritu, and drummer Anthony Sonetti, Badflower's tendency to address human vulnerability makes them a powerful example of how the hard rock genre has evolved in the 21st Century.

Formed in Northridge, California, in 2008, Badflower started out under the name the Cartunes with Katz and Morrow meeting in music school. They soon changed their name and recruited Espiritu and Sonetti to round out the lineup. After gigging around Los Angeles, Badflower found the attention of former NSYNC member Lance Bass, who plugged them on his SiriusXM radio show.

In 2013, Badflower released their debut EP, About A Girl. In 2016, Badflower released their second EP, Temper, via Hundred Handed Inc. The EP featured the single "Animal." In 2018, Badflower had a hit single with "Ghost," which unflinchingly discussed subjects like depression and self-harm.

"Ghost" found a significant audience and peaked at No. 11 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. "Ghost" was also certified Gold by the RIAA. "I was depressed and thinking about self-harm. So I just wrote it," Katz told Loudwire about "Ghost." "I played out the whole scenario and put it into a song because that's what writers do, I suppose. I didn't even know if it was gonna go on the album. I was sorta hesitant to even show it to the rest of my band, but everyone heard it and loved it."

In 2017, Badflower hit the road on the Rock 'N' Roll Now tour alongside Bleeker, Beware Of Darkness and Red Sun Rising. The same year, they began work on their debut studio album, 2019's OK, I'm Sick, which Loudwire named one of the 50 best rock albums of that year. In 2020, Badflower released "30" on Katz's 30th birthday.

Badflower followed up their debut with 2021's This Is How The World Ends, which featured the singles "Family," "Don't Hate Me," "Fukboi," and "Johnny Wants To Fight." Loudwire ranked This Is How The World Ends as the 38th best rock/metal album of 2021. Catch Badflower on tour when they come to a city near you.

  • Great show with one caveat

    by Rm5653 on 10/21/24Aztec Theatre - San AntonioRating: 4 out of 5

Great show, love Badflower live. Y’all please go to Austin next time and please don’t sing songs glorifying guns and gun violence. Your opening song upset my friend whose brother was a school shooting victim. Gun violence is too prevalent in our society for you to pretend that won’t happen again. Otherwise thanks for a good show!

  • Badflower 2nd live experience

by Justin Garcia on 10/21/24Aztec Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

My first live experience with Badflower was awesome...they opened up for Falling in Reverse and I fell in love with their sound...so when I heard they were head lining and going back to San Antonio I immediately bought tickets...their music speaks to me in ways having to do with my own personal life experiences growing up

Drove from DFW to San Antonio to see what might possibly have been the best concert ever. The gents were amazing and I highly recommend anyone see them live.

  • Awesome Show!

by Fast Lane on 10/10/24Neptune Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Badflower puts on an awesome show! This is my 3rd time seeing them and the first time I seen them headline. Some of the quirks of the show were funny and made for a unique experience. I will be seeing them again!

  • Such a sick experience!

They interact with the fans so you get a bonus! Also they play all of your favorite songs and to the full extent. They give their hearts out in every verse and chord. Their stage performances are epic and remarkable! Will see them again for sure

by Lauren T on 10/4/24Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first BadFlower concert, and it will definitely not be my last! They sounded amazing, they were hilarious, and brought awesome energy to the stage. I would recommend their show to anyone! They also had a killer meet and greet!

by Geof on 10/2/24The Pageant - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Badflower four times at four different venues and they always bring the energy. They are hilarious, fun, and sound great. One of my favorite live bands. I'll see them every chance I get if they are in the St. Louis area.

  • Missio Is The Best Live

by Princess on 10/2/24The Pageant - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Missio is the best. I've been a part of the Missio Mafia for a long time and seeing them live was not disappointing. I didn't buy tickets for Badflower/Slotthrust. I was there for Missio and they killed it. Their set needed to be longer.

  • Excellent

  • Even Better Live

by Sarah on 10/1/24The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

It is not easy to be even better live than on recording, but Badflower has accomplished that. They are talented, yet humble and clearly appreciate the ability to perform. We travelled to Columbia from Kansas City just to see them and already can't wait for the next opportunity!

  • Badflower

by cardstl on 10/1/24The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

one of the best live rock acts touring. Josh is engaged with the crowd throughout the show and puts on an absolutely heartfelt show. The entire bands are fantastic musicians. I have seen them 4 times and plan to do it again soon.

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

by Storm on 10/1/24The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

First of all, Badflower puts on an AMAZING show! My only complaint is that I really wanted to see one of the openers, MISSIO, but they started WAY early so I missed the majority of theirs. But the rest of it was awesome. There should be some kind of warning somewhere (if there isn’t) about all of the flashing lights for all of our epileptic friends out there because it was very, very flashy but the venue was amazing and all seats were great seats! Overall an amazing experience and would definitely go again!

  • Great band, hot and expensive venue.

by Hillary C on 9/29/24The Fillmore Detroit - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Badflower was awesome, per usual! And their openers sounded great too. Now about the venue... The sound system and layout of the venue was all very good. However, there was absolutely no air flow in the upper portion of GA on the 1st floor nearest the bar. It was almost stifling. The outdoor smoking section had no trash cans, and in general there were not enough trash cans. Drinks were extremely expensive. They did serve food, which was cool but didn't have any so can't rate it. Bathrooms were clean enough but difficult to get to if you have mobility issues (down or up a flight of old, steep, carpeted stairs).
