About

Backstreet Boys on Tour

The pitch-perfect harmonies. The matching outfits and dance moves. The dreamy personas. When they set foot in an arena, the Backstreet Boys are absolutely in their element, belting out a massive catalog of original hits to an outsized audience that screams back every word. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson have been at it for decades, but even after setting the blueprint for acts like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, their 1993-formed group remains the best-selling boy band of all time. And unlike so many others (including their former direct competition, *NSYNC), Backstreet Boys never quit. They kept making records — adapting their increasingly adult sound to an ever-shifting pop landscape — and kept upping the performance stakes too, taking their NKOTBSB supergroup (with New Kids on the Block) on the road in 2011, and holding down a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas starting in 2017. Their DNA World Tour celebrates their rich history of swooning ballads and get-up-and-dance jams (and yet another No. 1 album in 2019's DNA).

Backstreet Boys in Concert

Despite becoming more or less a five-headed pop machine, the Backstreet Boys' origins were pretty organic. Cousins Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell came up singing in church choirs and at festivals in Lexington, Kentucky, while the other three bonded over their shared love for Prince and old-school R&B after meeting at various acting auditions around Orlando. They came together under the guidance of teen-pop guru Lou Pearlman and emerged in the mid-1990s as radio-smashing global sensations — the quintessential boy band yearning over heartfelt hits like "I Want It That Way" and powering parties with upbeat bops like "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." Their first two U.S. albums — 1997's Backstreet Boys and 1999's Millennium — also marked the arrival of Swedish superproducer Max Martin, who helped forge a shiny new sound that combined bubblegum pop, classic R&B, hip-hop swing and dance production. The Backstreet Boys' astounding longevity owes as much to maintaining this baseline formula as it does to their ability to pull modern sounds and grown-man themes into the gleaming pop universe they created way back when.

    Best Show Ever!

by CutieFee on 6/12/10Chastain Park Amphitheatre Live Nation - Atlanta

One of the best concerts I have ever been to (Only being beat by the "Black and Blue" tour). I have been in love with BSB since I was 11. I'm usually not a fan of outdoor ampitheaters, but for the Backstreet Boys, I would do just about anything. The show was amazing! I was concerned a little about how they would sound live without Kevin, but Howie did not dissapoint at all. He picked up the slack and made me love him even more. The only complaint I have is that when they performed "All I have to give" they didn't do the Famous "Hat tricks" that I fell in love with so many years ago when I first saw the video, and time again at the concerts. Overall, the show was my very own Oz, and hopefully next year I will click my heels and be back at another BSB show!!!!! ~Felicia

I have been a huge BSB fan since I was 14 yrs old and I am now 26. I always loved them and never will stop. The show was amazing just to see them again in person was amazing but to see them perform different songs from the albums was remarkable and wish I could see them again.

13 years and they've still got it!

by JNasty4 on 6/11/10Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

This concert was simply AMAZING. The song list was well crafted and put together - many fans aren't as familiar with the last three albums as they are with the first three, and BSB delivered! They played all the fan favorites: Everybody (Backstreet's Back), Quit Play Games, As Long As You Love Me, Larger than Life, More Than That, Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely, The Call, and of course I Want It That Way! They also cleverly incoporated some of their newer albums such as - Bigger, Incomplete, Straight Through My Heart, This Is Us and others.. Performance choreography was well crafted, and inherited from old favorites! The guys were dead on with their singing - keeping original to most of the songs and quirks fans love! They used physical mics for just about the whole show, prooving that the guys really still have it goin' on - no lip synching with these guys! Rather than using a live band, they had a performing DJ (played some instrument pieces) who did a fantastic job at keeping the crowd involved during break periods, along with some other BSB treats :-) Only downside - lighting was TERRIBLE! It was hard to take photos. Lighting would show up on of the guys at a time depending on who was singing like it was a Broadway production or theater stage show. Or, it would be indiscriminately angled shadowing the guys in a unflattering halo of light - not condusive to good picture taking!

    Great Show , Bad Acoustics

by Suecoffee on 6/11/10Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

I would have to say the Boys put on an excellent show. They still got it going on. The place on the other hand, in my opinion had Bad Acoustics . I found it very difficult to hear them singing over the crowd singing. All in all it was a great show.

The concert was great. Made me remember my childhood. Not as extravagant as their concerts in their prime, but wonderful nonetheless!

The concert was amazing! they really gave their heart into the performances. It was so nice to hear all their hits all over again. I couldn't have asked for more. It was a great night. They are coming back for another performance in NYC on August 26, 2010 and I am defiantly going again.

by JSC5986 on 6/11/10Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

The concert was amazing! The perfect dance moves, the silly video clips, and the amazing singing made this concert a hit. The greatest thing about the backstreet boys is that they are not only great singers but energetic performers. I love that they interact with the audience and do so many things in the time that they have for the fans!!! I am and will always be a Backstreet Boys Fan ;)

Backstreets Back but never really left our hearts

by VrokFrick on 6/11/10Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

First off, let me start by saying that the venue was packed with fans and the line to get in was unbelievably long. This shows you how dedicated the Backstreet Boys fans really are. Over a decade later and their popularity lives on. The concert was fantastic. BSB sounded great and their dance moves were just as good as ever. Thank you to the BSB for giving NYC such a great concert and I will always be a fan and continue to go to all future concerts. With love, Vickie PS - Brian is just hillarious. Everytime I see him and his goofy faces I can't help but put a huge grin on my face and my soul feels lighter.
