  • Great production!

by Jen on 3/31/25Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Parking was easy and close. There does not seem to be a bad seat in the house. The way they did this production was pretty cool! Great job cast and crew! I would recommend this show.

Tired cast. No energy. Not many dimensional sets. Too much dependability on electronic backdrop. Poor casting choice of some of the principal characters. If it wasn't for the car and the special effects, this show would be nothing. I regret not seeing it in NYC. Nothing like the one and original.

  • Very entertaining evening

by LC on 3/28/25Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

It was a very entertaining show. Do not expect this to mirror the movie or to be like a musical that was originally a musical. This is a musical adaptation of a book and movie. That said, the original songs are good. The lead actors could easily be Chris Lloyd or MJF. If you enjoyed the movie and the 80s nostalgia, then you will enjoy this show.

  • Outatime!!

I've been a BTTF fan since 1985 and the musical was great! Loved the songs, and the casting was very, very good and true to the characters. This was an experience I'll remember into the future!

  • Absolutely Timeless!

by C. T. Wallace on 3/26/25Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I have followed this show since hearing about its start in Manchester 2020 (pre-covid), then rejoiced as it made it to the West End (and won Best Musical at the Olivier’s). Then rejoiced even further, as it landed in the US on Broadway and finally got to witness time travel history in Dallas. Everything, absolutely every component of this STELLAR show is proudly displayed and heard for the audience. So much laughter. So much oohs and aahs. And with this Time Machine, so much time well spent in an evening at the theatre! In short, run….don’t walk to see BTTF the Musical!

Back to the Future was more entertaining than I thought it could be! Not my favorite but it was very well done. If you’re a fan of the movie, then don’t miss the musical!

  • A Futuristic Success!!!

by Will R. on 3/25/25Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Back to the Future was quite a show! I haven’t seen a good modern Broadway show within the last decade; I was, in fact, starting to think that Broadway was losing all of its appeal. This show is among the top 5 that have come out over the past decade! I highly recommend it, especially if you loved the movie!! They, in fact, have tweaked the story beautifully, to work for the stage and to bring a refreshing new take on the original story, that of the movie. The music is well written, with several catchy tunes. The cast was somewhat lacking in acting abilities but the book is written so well that the script/book made up for the lack of talent and abilities from the cast. The men who played Marty and his father as well as the 2 females (Marty’s GF and mother) were, by far, the best actors in the cast. Thank you all for such an enjoyable evening!! Thank you to Dallas Music Hall Staff for also being so helpful and accommodating!!

  • Absolutely LOVED it

It was everything we wanted it to be. Already a huge fan of the movie and we were hoping this would do it justice and it totally did. I would go see it again.

  • Pretty good

by Charlie Bravo on 3/24/25Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Overall, an enjoyable show. The set design and stage mechanics were incredible—easily a standout. The music was decent, though the original songs didn’t stick as much as the familiar rock/pop classics they covered. The acting was solid across the board, though some of the comedic moments felt a bit forced by a few of the cast.

  • Lack to the Future

by Wells1977 on 3/23/25Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 3 out of 5

I am an avid musical theatre buff as well as an enormous B2F fan; but I did little to no research on this show prior to sitting down in the theater with my wife Wednesday night. I wanted fresh eyes! Furthermore, I expected nothing from the music or special effects. Both were excellent and extremely appropriate for this production. I say “good show!” Sincerely. However I was very disappointed to discover that the book for this stage musical rarely departed from the on-screen dialogue, plot development, or character arc. It felt like a copy/paste of the movie. While I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Doc Brown did not die from being gun down by Libyan terrorists in the musical; the remainder of the musical seems to aim at copying the film almost entirely. To me, extension or interpretation is the point of bringing a film to the stage. Movies are superficial. Theatre is living. Screen to stage adaptations humanize the original. Musicals are not meant to simply add songs to an existing plot. For instance, I was expecting Marty’s relationship with Doc or his father to be fleshed out more. Where was that? It seemed like an obviously under-developed relationship. Additionally the musical offers this excellent theme song where Marty asks himself what his future will be. He doesn’t feel like a “future boy” at all. But how does the musical resolve this? They end the story with Marty getting another shot to play with his band. That’s it!?! I expected more inner-contemplation from the this young man about what “future” really means. After all, he has challenged the space/time continuum for over 40 years!! Has he learned nothing? I expected more from Marty. Overall, Back to the Future the musical was just that: a musical version of Back to the Future. But when a movie is so iconic, why bring it to the stage if you are just going to let history repeat itself?

I decided to take my son to this musical during spring break, since he is very passionate about show choir and musicals in his school. We were so impressed with the quality of the graphics and creativity of the visual effects.

  • Entertaining

Impossible to find the parking entrance. Once inside, there was an aging elegance. The performance was very well done, fun, and entertaining, even though we all knew how it would end. The lead really evoked Michael J. Fox. Very enjoyable!
