About

B.B. King is in his late 80s, but the King of Blues is still on stage with his band and his famous guitar Lucille more than 100 nights a year -- a tour schedule that would tax many artists a quarter of his age. He's without a doubt the most well-known and successful living blues artist in the world. A Mississippi native, Riley B. King first built his reputation while working as a DJ, guitarist and jingle writer at the legendary radio station WDIA in Memphis, where he was known as "Blues Boy King" -- a nickname that was later shortened to B.B. He recorded his first album in 1949, and has released more than 50 albums since that have yielded popular songs like "The Thrill is Gone," "Three O'Clock Blues," and "You Upset Me Baby." King, a 1987 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is known for his precise and sparse guitar style in which he plays individual strings instead of chords, coaxing his unmistakable sound by bending and holding notes. Today he plays concerts sitting down because of his diabetic condition, but that doesn't stop fans from scooping up tickets to see this still-vital living legend who influenced guitarists ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton to John Mayer and Derek Trucks.

    BB King was Epic!

by aggiedabba on 7/13/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

BB was incredible. The night could not have been better - the House of Blues is a great and intimate venue to catch such a legend and BB seemed to really enjoy being there. This was not just another show in his career...he truly seemed to enjoy performing and interacting with the crowd. Definitelt glad I was there for it.

B.B. was great depite his visible fatigue.

by Rterr2000 on 7/13/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

    1. B.B. can still sing and he plays amazingly well to have arthritus. 2. B.B. talked about his travels on this tour and It's a hectic schedule, in my opinion, for an 83yo , man. Nevertheless, he was great and I'd like to see him again when he's had a good night's sleep. 3. Kudos to that band of his. They got his back!!! The bass player, to me, was amazing--I'm a beginning bass player and he encouraged me after the show. The gutarist was too cool too.

    BB King HOB Dallas

by flomassa on 7/13/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

The concert was great. The band was wonderful. Only thing for some people to realize before seeing the King is that he does a lot of story telling/talking in between songs but if i was 80 something I would too.

    BB blathers

by TexasRobbins on 7/13/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

BB King is a great artist, and I love the man and his music. But his "pearls of wisdom" are too numerous. It'd be a better show if he talked less and played more! I'd give it an "Average" rating, but my buddy ranked it as one of the worst shows he's seen, so I'll give it a "Fair" rating.

    BB King talked to much

by mel01 on 7/13/09House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

it was enjoyable. Who would not think he would be great!!! The only thing I would say is that he talked way too mucha and didn't sing allot of songs. As a matter of he talked 95% of the time. It was in a way disapointing but for me I was overwelmed because I have never seen him live before and being at the HOB, in Dallas was like being there one on one. It was wonderful I loved it. :)So in all I would still seem him again. If he is able to come back . :)

by NurseBETTY on 7/11/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las Vegas

B.B. KING WAS ON MY BUCKET LIST..I WAS THRILLED TO GET THE CHANCE TO SEE HIM PERFORM AT HIS AGE. WAS AS GOOD AS IF HE WERE 20 YEARS YOUNGER. I WOULD RECOMMEND SEEING HIM BEFORE YOU LOOSE THE CHANCE.

B.B. was great, the venue was poor

by Monty on 7/11/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Expensive tickets worth it for a for a blues icon; however, the House of Blues venue was poor with limited acoustics, views, and expensive drinks. The performance was advertised to start at 7:30PM but finally started at 9:30PM. During the two hours wait there was an interim "artist" , who apparently was a student. Due to the poor venue and the two hour delay there is no way I could recommend this event. Actually the ticket price should be refunded.

    BB King the Legend

by NitaLaRae on 7/11/09House of Blues Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Absolutely great. He started everything for alot of performers and we could see why. We would love it if he did a concert with special appearances and performances with guest musicians like Eric Clapton etc.
