What a blast from the past!

by Lammer56 on 12/13/16Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

I saw the first "Church Basement Ladies" around 10 years ago when I was visiting my brother in Minnesota. What a hoot that was! Now I had the fantastic opportunity to see them again in "Away in the Basement" and I was not disappointed in the least. The singing was wonderful, there were plenty of laughs and a couple of touching moments. All of the actors were on point - never missed a beat and if anything went wrong, we in the audience never knew. If you are reading this, I hope you get to see this play. Who knew that Lutherans could be so funny? Especially to us Catholics. :-)

    wonderful show

I have wanted to see the Church Basement Ladies for years and never had the chance. I really enjoyed it. It was very funny and entertaining. A nice look back to a simpler time and what I remember like the apples, ribbon candy and we got peanuts in our brown bag after our Sunday School program!!

Very entertaining and fun. Many good belly laughs throughout. The music, singing and dancing were just great. We really enjoyed the entire production. It put us into the Christmas mood. Just what we needed!

    Sound needs work

by AnnieVee on 11/29/16Mayo Civic Center Presentation Hall - Rochester

Overall I think the acting was good and there were definitely funny moments. However, the sound in the balcony was so bad that we honestly could not hear well enough to make a "sound" decision regarding this play. We left early because it was just too difficult spending that much energy to figure out the lines. We took our two teen kids (14 and 19) who both said the sound was an issue for them, too.

    Almost deja vu!

    by 2Gophers on 11/15/16Ames Center - Burnsville

For someone who grew up in the 50s & 60s and went to a Catholic grade school next to our church, it was hilariously "real," although ours were held in school gymnasium. Lutheran or Catholic, it was truly great, with a few very touching moments that were very well handled. Cast was very strong, across the board.

Away in the basement was good entertainment!

by Loboe72 on 11/30/12Bismarck Civic Center - Bismarck

The song and dance numbers were done well. The comedy was apparent and hit home with the stereotypes of the religions and midwestern small town life. Worthwhile event and both my wife and I enjoyed. We would see another performance by the group it was that good.

I have seen the Ladies performances at the Plymouth Playhouse and was so excited that I could see them so close to home. I made my friends and daughter come along cuz I knew the Ladies would certainly knock their socks off... and we laughed and laughed and laughed. They were great.
