About

Avenged Sevenfold is a heavy metal quintet from Huntington Beach, California that has spent over two decades as one of the genre’s biggest mainstream crossover acts. They’ve earned six certified platinum albums, four Billboard Hot 100-charting singles and nearly three billion YouTube streams. Formed in 1999, the band adopted their stage names M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev and Synyster Gates ahead of their 2001 debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. It wasn’t until the band added bassist Johnny Christ and transitioned to a more progressive metal sound for their 2003 follow-up Waking the Fallen that they began to resemble the uninhibited, creative force that fans recognize today. A7X’s 2005 major label debut City of Evil propelled the band to a wider audience behind the breakout single “Bat Country,” and their 2007 self-titled album built on those gains with a No. 4 debut on the Billboard 200. Following the death of drummer The Rev in 2009, Avenged Sevenfold regrouped for 2010’s Nightmare, which topped the Billboard 200 and hosted their highest Hot 100 hit “Nightmare” as well as the touching tribute “So Far Away,” which became their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. 2013’s Hail to the King also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was followed by 2016’s The Stage, which garnered the band’s first Grammy nomination in the Best Rock Song category for its title track. In 2023, Avenged Sevenfold came roaring back after five years off the road with Life Is but a Dream…

    Not what it was

by Squatch on 4/1/24PNC Arena - Raleigh

If your expecting the avenged sevenfold that brings the flames, pyro explosions and an awesome stage design, your going to be disappointed. The stage was made up of what appeared to be 3 large led screens. The performance was lackluster and didn’t have the same energy as the previous times I’ve seen A7X. I actually believe Sullivan king stole the show from them in this specific situation when it comes to stage presence and the overall energy put into the performance. Poppy was mediocre at best and you really couldn’t hear the vocals when she played. Overall I was disappointed and never in a million years would I have seen myself being bored at an avenged sevenfold concert. I actually left early.

    A7X was great

by Sparksudimus on 3/30/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Ok... Who ever booked this was Way off. Sullivan King.... Lame. House music DJ who pretended to Play guitar. Lame and boring. poppy... Obviously lip syncing to a vocal track. Her Mic died and the vocal track kept playing while she just stood there. Horrible music. The drummer really should have tuned his snare before the show... Avenged Sevenfold were good. Gates was obviously sicker than hell and still sounded great. Shadow's voice was spot on. The stage was too Big though. I couldn't see Brooks at all, and being a drummer myself, he was the one who I really wanted to see.

    Amazing memorable!

    by Rendell619 on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

It’s been over 10years since I last seen them Live. They are as amazing as ever. So much growth and yet the classics still hit so hard! I’ve missed out on so many shows and I hope they continue to do more! Their stage presence is always entertaining and has funny moments at times. Makes me wish I had gone to more shows.

    London fog

by JDU on 3/29/24SNHU Arena - Manchester

I was seated 3 rows of the floor even with the front of the stage extension. It was so foggy could just barely see the drummer. That was the only drawback to the show.

    Best concert I've seen

by Brandon on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

This show was amazing from beginning to end. It started off with Sullivan King that nailed it (and our hearing lol). Then Poppy delivered as well a great performance. Then of course Avenged Sevenfold came out and blew us away. They said Syn was sick and he still delivered an amazing show. All the guys were on point from Shadows, Brooks, Johnny, Syn, and Zacky. I've never seen them live and it was literally the best concert I've been to yet.

A7X delivered at PPG Paints arena

by Ange on 3/29/24PPG Paints Arena - Pittsburgh

A7X sound and energy was great. The only thing that didn't work for me was the choice of Poppy as the 2nd performer. Hard to characterize what genre she is. A few heavy riffs but mostly sounded like she was singing fairy tales to young children, very unique sound. I love hearing new music and bands, but when I go to a Metal show, I would like to hear similar type bands as openers. Maybe she is on the same record label, maybe they are trying to bring new listeners in, not sure. Anyway, Rock on!

Check the setlist before deciding to go

    by N8 on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

The show was visually great, A7X sounded great.....however....there's a reason the arena had many empty seats in the lower bowl and absolutely no one in the upper bowl even after multiple BOGO offers. That reason is the latest album for which they are touring. A7X knew it was poorly received by most, yet they still played 5 songs from the album while not playing classics such as Beast and the Harlot, Welcome to the Family, Almost Easy to name a few. Bands like Metallica, ACDC, Iron Maiden who tour for new albums (that are much better received than this effort from A7X) still only play 2-3 songs tops, and give the fans what they want with the remainder of the setlist. I never check setlists before the show, I love to be surprised. But for this show, unless you really like the new album do yourself a favor and check their setlist before deciding to attend or not.

    Absolutely spectacular

by Ray on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

I’ve been an Avenged Sevenfold fan for what seems like forever. This was the first concert I was able to go to, and it was everything and more. Best birthday present I’ve ever given myself!! Though the crowd was a little underwhelming and I felt like I was being judged for enjoying the show from the people around me. Despite not feeling comfortable enough to sing along and jam out to most of the songs like I had intended I still had a good time watching everyone perform. Sullivan King and Poppy were also spectacular! Once we got to the venue and went to find out seats we were told that our section was closed down. That would’ve been good to know before hand but the concert staff were super helpful and nice about getting us new seats. Overall it was an amazing show and experience and I can’t wait till they go on tour next!

    Good show, sad crowd

by Cortney on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

I have been a fan of A7X since 2009. I got to the venue was told that my 200 level seat was going to be changed to a 100 level seat bc the band didn’t want anyone sitting up . Sadly, the real reason was because the lower bowl wasn’t sold out and wasn’t even filled in will all of us upper bowl folks filling it in. I’ll never complain about a seat upgrade but was a bit sad about the attendance but it was a Tuesday night. Sullivan King’s set was soooo loud that it just registered as noise to me. It was so loud that my pant legs were vibrating. I love some loud music but that’s too far. And he just seemed to be a DJ with a couple original songs. Not a fan but it was an entertaining opening set. Poppy was fun and entertaining. I wish her visuals on the big back screen were more substantial. Like a closer view of what she looked like or something bc she’s a pretty small sized human. Avenged Sevenfold is amazing and M. Shadows made an announcement that Synister Gates was sick with a stomach bug and even had a barf bucket on stage. I’m very grateful that he was able to power through and not cancel the show. They played a mix of songs from the new album and the older amazing tracks. I will always go see them again.

Everything was phenomenal Sullivan was meh

by Corn on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

A7X and poppy put on a fantastic show. So much better live worth the money to Ed them live and they played a good mixture of oldies goodies and their new songs. I had a great time and felt safe and most of the staff members were polite and helpful. Sullivan king had a lot of energy but his overall performance kind of felt like I was just watching a random guy dance to his mix tape (screams and fire were the best part of his performance). His music is pretty good outside of this so I was excited to see him but this live performance was just kind of meh and I thought he would sing a little more or something

    What. A. Show.

by Grant on 3/29/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

From insane vocals, to insane instrumentals, this band knows how to put on a great show. Syn was really sick apparently, but he didn't miss a beat. You can tell this band loves their fans. I will be seeing them again.
