    August: Osage County, truly entertaining!

by grifcon on 5/6/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

The quickest three hours you'll ever spend in a theatre!! Truly talented artists that do not miss a beat. The story is heartfelt and fabulous. Trust me, you've sat at that dining room table. I know I have.

August Osage Country was too long

    by lynne50411 on 5/6/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

August Osage Country was a bit of a circus and too long. it had it's moments where it was funny. The language at times was in poor taste. I thought it was ok, but the person i went with hated it. Some people left n the middle.

    Strong acting, great writing, engaging

    by AdamBoston123 on 5/5/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

I was very impressed. The writing and acting was top notch and the use of the set was great as well. It is the story of a very dysfunctional family and there is more and more going on and unfolding as the play goes on. The very opening scene was a bit slow and hard to connect with, but after that it pulled me in and the time flew by. It is a bit long (2 intermissions and nearly 3 hours), but it is engaging and the time flew by. I would highly recommend it.

The most amazing night of theater I've experienced in quite some time. By turns disturbing and entertaining, completely captivating. Didn't feel like 3.5 hours at all, and yet worth every minute.

    August:Osage Country Was Regrettable

    by DW79 on 5/5/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

Very poor contemporary drama. Long, boring ,wordy. Nothing at all to recommend this show. No buzz or excitement here. We left in the middle. I see many broadway shows and this is a first. I disliked it so much and felt it was a waste of time so I left prematurely.

by Montanarocks on 5/5/10Colonial Theatre - Boston

The writing, the cast, the setting - all excellent. If only more theater were as intelligent and engaging. Estelle Parsons is amazing! And Shannon Cochran is a force to be reckoned with. See this play!

I didn't want August: OC to end

by docpooh18 on 3/15/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

This is a drama following the lives of a family through the death of the family patriarch. There is a unit set, 3 acts, and enough characters that they actually provide you a family tree in the program so you know quickly how they all relate. So when you see a 3 1/2 hour play and at the end want to see more, I think that speaks very highly to the quality and power of the show. The acting was great and the emotional arcs were very engaging. I cared about these characters and what happened to them. And I can't imagine being an actor in the show and doing it twice in one day! This is a show that you have to see live - it is the perfect example of how a live play in front of a live audience feeds on each other's energy. I think it would be a laughable movie because it would lose all its dramatic power. See it live when you get the chance!

    August: Osage County was spectacular!

by harleykkw on 3/1/10Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I bought the tickets without really knowing that much about the play. So needless to say what a surprise and treat we were in for. The acting was fantastic and the dialogue, well let's just say it hit home a couple of times. This is definitely a treat you should give yourself.

    Incredible!!!

by magnus33 on 3/1/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

Wow, some of the best writing I've seen on stage. The cast was sensational, moving seemlessly through all Tracy's pitfalls. What the biggest surprise is that this show is very funny.

No plot. Excessive language that was not necessary. No storyline and thus no resolution to anything. Forgettable. Aside from the story the actors were very good and everything was put together well.

    Osage County, dont miss it

by IowaMamaWolf on 2/28/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

This play was a wonderful walk through one family's dysfunction, leaving the audience to look at thier own craziness in thier family. The acting was wonderful, the cast fit thier roles well. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially to mothers, daughters and sisters who will get the special meaning waiting below the surface.

    August: Osage County was spectacular!

by acdclclc on 2/28/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

Absolutely wonderful show. Very intense throughout the entire 3 plus hours. Actors were spectacular. Humor, shock, sadness, sympathy, you get all things with this production. I would recommend the show to everyone I know. Beware of the very rough language used throughout the show.

    AUGUST

by Cleveland76 on 2/28/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

This play was riveting, thought provoking....STELLAR!!!! Estelle Parsons delivered an outstanding performance! So powerful and real. Shannon Cochran was phenominal as well!! I wish this show would tour its way to omaha so I could see it again!!! So twisted and mesmerizing. The family dysfunction that runs thick through all of us.

    excellent

by jim3 on 2/28/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

From the sets, lights and all other aspects the play was done in a very professional manner. The performances by all the actors was great. It is hard to single out players but Estelle Parsons and Shannon Cochran truly stood out. A well written stage play is sometimes hard to watch as we, the audience, see our own weaknesses in the players. That is true of this production, but I still highly recommend it.

    depressing

by Lyke on 2/26/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

Although the acting was great, the play just got more depressing by the minute. Several people around us left after the first act. There were several very funny lines, but they didn't make up for the dark nature of the show.

August Osage County was Powerful, Realistic

by rks2009 on 2/25/10Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

This play was a powerful portrayal of addiction , its affect on family dynamics, and generational cycles of abuse. It is sometimes difficult to watch while at the same time delivers some clever, funny dialogue. The script is littered with profanity, so it's not for those who are easily offended. The play is slightly over 3 hours long - probably one hour longer than it needs to be. Despite its flaws its still worth the time.

    Best Theatrical Performance

by Shtine on 2/23/10Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This was a fantastic performance. So much drama and emotions. The cast was fabulous. It was the perfect mix of comedy and drama. The language was very vivid with lot's of profanity, however, that's what made the performance soooooo real. I would highly recommend this to others and would see it again myself:)
