Thom Yorke never fails to put on a good show, but there were many portions of it that failed to impress.
First off, the merchandise was a tad expensive, although it was to be expected for only a Nine-show lineup.
Then there was the opening act, Flying Lotus. He's a good musician, but his performance lacked energy. I was bored enough to leave the crowd and chill by the sidelines until he was gone. I'll give him credit for a non-stop session and a remix of "Idioteque."
By then the crowd was far too packed and was getting too rowdy. The smell was almost unbearable and the audience was borderline rude, obnoxious and drunk. When Atoms for Peace came on, I had a hard time seeing the stage between the masses. It didn't help that the people around me moved so much. I wouldn't have minded if they were dancing to the beat as I was (whenever I had enough room to) but they were as much as a bore as Lotus.
Still, Mr. Yorke and the Flea from RHCP stole the show with boundless spunk and pomp. The instruments were as fascinating to hear as they were to look at! As always, the sound was better live along with different renditions from the album "The Eraser." Still, I doubt I'll go to see this act again. Hopefully Radiohead will be more of a treat.
