About

For over two decades, Atmosphere has maintained a course of rigorous output, releasing over two dozen studio albums, EP's and collaborative side projects in as many years. In that time, the venerated duo have built a legacy out of bringing honesty, humility and vulnerability to the forefront of their music, continually challenging themselves to evolve without straying too far from their roots. Slug has proven masterful at storytelling and writing compelling narratives, leaving a trail of his own influence while paying homage to the rappers and songwriters that helped shape him. Ant has skillfully molded the soundtracks with inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae, and the wizardry of hip-hop's pioneering DJ's and producers, creating his own trademark sounds while providing the pulse for songs about life, love, stress and setbacks. At its essence, Atmosphere has been a musical shepherd, and with each new album comes a new journey as they guide generations of listeners through this thing called life.

  • Never ceases to amaze me!!!

by Biggen on 8/10/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

The air was hot in Dallas' House of Blues last thursday night. Not just because of the humidity of the 100 degree temperature, but because Minnasotas finest Atmosphere was able to grace the fortunate ones who didn't care it was "a school night!" Attracted to gods kicked off the night and then Eyedeas and Abilities played main support! The place was packed elbow to elbow and the moment Slug came on stage the place went nuts and just like every other time I've seen this group he makes you smile! Literally he tells you to smile! If you've never seen a hip-hop show, or think that hip-hop isn't " your cup of tea" you need to give Atmosphere a REAL listen to and hopefully I'll see you at next years show. Stay ugly.

  • Atmosphere is amazing!

    by anneh2003 on 8/8/09Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great guys, they have great lyrics great beats and most of all they care about the fans. They want their fans to be happy and they keep it real. Also, they care a lot about the sound and how it'll hear to the crowd and not just depend on the sound guy. Thanks Atmosphere for caring. You rock! :)

  • Atmosphere was good!

by Griza on 8/7/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

The entire show was good, I must say. I loved the way that the lead singer from "attracted By Gods" played for like everyone. guarantees Freestyle was AWESOME!

  • "we rocked with atmosphere"

by danieunderoath on 8/7/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere was amazing. He is such a nice guy, so sweet and funny. He came out before the show and greeted everyone, I got pictures with him and I shook his hand. Hands down one of my favorite artists and he sounds just like he does on his albums, no lip syncing. I Love him!

  • A master at work

by Brandocious on 8/7/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I will leave out reviews of the first two acts which were disappointing, and focus on Atmosphere. Look at the tour dates on their tour shirts and then the release dates of the seemingly endless stream of work they have put out in the last two years, do the math, and you will realize that all these guys do is write, record, and tour. And boy does it show. The level of musicianship, timing, and stage presence shown by Atmosphere rivals some of the best big-venue stage shows by veteran acts that I have ever seen. Slug completely owns the entire place when he gets on stage, and you stand there in awe of the event you are being allowed to witness. This show he really focused on tracks from God Loves Ugly and the more recent When Life Gives You Lemons.... album. I was very excited to hear some of the older tracks that I wore out my CD player with, and the newer songs fit in very nicely. If you have not been to an Atmosphere show yet, do it as soon as possible, because this is true love of music in it's most pure form and I will be telling my grandkids about it someday. Truly a life changing show.

  • Super fun show. Great music!

Excellent show. Atmosphere sounded better in person than on his albums and had a great time performing and interacting with the crowd. Would def. Go see him again.

by c85struck on 8/7/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

the opening groups were pretty horrible lol but, Atmosphere was amazing live. did the well known ones that most love and even did impromptu off the sleeve flow about the crowd. even got to meet the group after as they walked around and just b.s.-ed with all the fans. you could tell that the group enjoyed performing for us and it showed in their performance.

  • Whole Lotta Ugly

by PrettyEnemy on 8/7/09House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

Atmosphere really delievered! The opening groups set the mood for one wicked preformance. Slug worked the stage, the mic, and the crowd. And the DJ... my god can he scratch and work that soundboard! I had an amazing time at this show. I would go out of my way to see Atmosphere again.

  • Atmosphere was amazing!!

    by Karen1985 on 8/6/09Warehouse Live - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

I went to see Atmosephere at Warehouse Live in Houston 8/4/2009. That was the best show i have seen in a long time. Slug and Ant came out before the doors opened and met everyone that was waiting in line. Eyedea and Abilities was awesome live, but Atmosphere stole the show. I hope they are back next year. I would definately recommend that everyone should check both bands out. They rock!

  • atmosphere blew the top off

by amberlynn7 on 8/3/09House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

atmosphere was the most amazing concert i have been to in forever!!!! He rocked it !!! It was great even before the concert cause he stood out in front of the house of blues and took pictures and signed autographs, he walked around and talked to people, he was very approachable. He was awesome. The house of blues was a great venue there seemed to be plenty of room to rock out to the song even though it was a packed house. The line to get in was very fast, we didnt have to wait long to get in at all. I do wish they didnt have to take the tickets so you could keep them as a souvenir. Overall this concert was a blast!!!

  • ATMOS rocks Ft. Lauddy once again!!

by lcoholic on 8/3/09Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

On Friday, July 31st, 2009 at 10:45PM Atmosphere took the crowd by storm @ the Revolution in Ft. Lauderdale. Not only did emcee, Sean Daley, a.k.a. "Slug" meet and greet his adoring fans outside, but he proceeded to shake everyone's hand and tell them how much he appreciated their presence at the show. From the standpoint of an observer, the club appeared to be packed full of people from wall to wall, waiting to see this musically and lyrically amazing rap group that hails from Minneapolis, "Minnesnowta." DJ Anthony Davis, known as "Ant" dropped fat beats as Slug poured his heart out into every song. The night ended with at least three encores, including the bonus song, "Vanity Sick," off their 2008 album entitled "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold." The song set included many songs dealing with social criticism, namely "Your Glass House." In my opinion this show was technically better than their last show at the same venue last October. I expect them to return with yet another vengance on their next tour. All in all it was an amazing show and my sympathies go out to any fan who missed it... it was an epic night!

Sound was on point, the passion showed through the music, and the experience was none short of beautiful.

  • Best show in the atmosphere!

by Mikey1 on 8/3/09House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

They put on an incredible performance last nght in nola. The opening bands didn't fit the genre I was expecting coming in, but atmosphere made up for it and then some.
