About

For over two decades, Atmosphere has maintained a course of rigorous output, releasing over two dozen studio albums, EP's and collaborative side projects in as many years. In that time, the venerated duo have built a legacy out of bringing honesty, humility and vulnerability to the forefront of their music, continually challenging themselves to evolve without straying too far from their roots. Slug has proven masterful at storytelling and writing compelling narratives, leaving a trail of his own influence while paying homage to the rappers and songwriters that helped shape him. Ant has skillfully molded the soundtracks with inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae, and the wizardry of hip-hop's pioneering DJ's and producers, creating his own trademark sounds while providing the pulse for songs about life, love, stress and setbacks. At its essence, Atmosphere has been a musical shepherd, and with each new album comes a new journey as they guide generations of listeners through this thing called life.

  • As good as ever

    by 123454321 on 9/10/09First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere has never failed to amaze me at a live show. Slug could not appreciate his fans any more and he is sure to let them know that. From having a one-on-one conversation from the stage with someone in the crowd instead of going in back stage before his "encores," to playing almost another hours worth of music after, Slug and Ant is always worth the money.

First time I have seen Atmosphere and I thought they were fantastic. Great combination of rap, melody, and a great beat. Loved the background singer. Great stage presence, story telling, and making the audience a part of the show. I will definitely go see them when they are in town again.

The show was great! I love first ave as a venue and Atmosphere always makes the homecoming shows unbelievable. Attracted to Gods and Eyedea and Abilities played awesome opening sets. Definitely going to have to check out more of them. Slug was, as always, super into the crowd which made everyone go even crazier.

Everything about the show was awesome. From people leaving with bloody noses before the show even starts to Atmosphere being so god damn awesome. I loved it. Even Eyedeas and Abilities. I have never heard them before this show but from the first song the played I was hooked. I went to Zia's the next day and bought their CD.

  • Best show I've been to

by EricM on 8/25/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I heard a few people complaining that red rocks isn't personal enough for a hip hop show like this, but I honestly think it was perfect. Aesop rock was my favorite performance, but the best part was the freestyle at the end with Aesop, slug, murs, and eyedea. They absolutely killed it, and Colorado absolutely loved it. Awesome!!!

  • atmosphere was amazinn!!!!!!!

  • Atmosphere is always enjoyable!

by Lunarious on 8/23/09House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere at the HOB in SD was a good show. It was my 6th time seeing atmosphere, so I am obviously a huge fan. This show was not my fav of all the ones I've seen. The set list had a few too many slow songs in a row, but they came back at the end and played shrapnel always coming back to you and sunshine at the end which left me on a good note. Slug even questioned the crowd about the set list, which leads me to believe that they are unsure of the list. I love their music and appreciate the love and soul in every atmosphere song, so I am always a happy camper at their concerts.
