    Thank God they're good girls

by Pops on 12/27/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

It was the first Atlanta Ballet experience for my two grand daughters, 9 and 6, with their Grandpa they call Pops. Thank goodness they were good girls with training in patience. The show was well over an hour late. The concept for the technology interactions was great but it didn't work. Such a big production in our city should have technology back up. Then the dancers were less than Atlanta Ballet top quality I expect to see at the Nutcracker. We're a progressive artistic, athletic city. We should present some of the best dancers in the country. Ours that day were some good, some not so good. The orchestra was very good. The merchandising was also less than expected. I felt for sure I'd come away with a couple T Shirts for my granddaughters and maybe a Nutcracker, but both were not up to par at the merchandising booths. Such a great opportunity to maximize income potential, as 40% of all ballet revenue in the US is from performances of the Nutcracker, and the patrons are loaded and ready to spend for their families when they come. You need a new Director of Merchandising. I couldn't waste money, and I wanted to.

This show is definitely worth seeing!

by VictorL on 12/27/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This is my first time seeing the Nutcracker and it was an outstanding performance. The dancing, the set, the music, the technology all worked perfectly to create an extremely well done and entertaining. If you still have time treat yourself to this spectacular holiday event!

    Terrible!

by Dana on 12/27/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Delayed over an hour due to technical difficulties. Still had issues during the performance. They were using CG to portray parts of the story. Really should have had that down pat before using it! Dancers were off rhythm. Many of the choreographed numbers were not reflective of the tempo of the music. Atlanta Symphony performance was great! Dancers were dancing as if the music was superfluous! Not seen this since it was at the Fox. Not sure I'll be back.

    Amazing

by Bobbie on 12/26/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I have seen The Nutcracker several times at other venues. The Cobb seats were great. The dancers were so expressive and super talented. Our grandchildren were in awe!

    Doesn't Make Sense

by Mel on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Knowing the story of the Nutcracker, I feel that Atlanta Ballet started off good but lost the storyline somewhere along the way. The litany of solo dances at the end had no context as to why the dances were happening. I went 10 years ago and said I would never go back, for the same reason, but we had family in town that wanted to go so, off we went. I for sure will not go again. The talent was great, but the story telling was bad.

    Amazing!

by Balletfan on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The sets, quality of the dancing, and live orchestra were all top notch. Thoroughly mesmerizing and memorable way to celebrate Christmas with the class and beautiful music of the Nutcracker.

I thought the curtain always went up on time?

by Susan on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The ballet itself was lovely but because of “technical difficulties” the performance start was delayed close to an hour and a half. I might add with very little communication as to how long it might be. This was a long difficult wait for all in the audience but especially for the children.

    Amazingly beautiful!

by Carolin on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

My son is four and he enjoyed it. It was a little too long, so buy snacks and that’ll help with the second hour. The venue is beautiful and parking was great and easily accessible. Clean bathrooms and beautiful Christmas items for sale.

    Not their best effort

by Mike on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Although the animation was new wrinkle, they sacrificed the flow of the story because of it. I’ve seen the Nutcracker numerous times and I would rate this as one of the least satisfying performances. Although I know the storyline, I had a terrible time trying to determine where they were and what was sacrificed so they could add a special animated effect. If this was your first time seeing the Nutcracker, you were most likely utterly lost.

    Awesome 3 generation experience

by Racetraveler on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

My daughter and I took my granddaughter, who just started ballet this year, and is on the autism spectrum (she's 6). We weren't sure HOW she'd react to the live music, the dance, or the setting. She literally sat on the edge of her seat throughout the performance totally engrossed. She had an absolutely wonderful time. Even better, she dancers and a ballet doll that looked like her. (She's biracial). We couldn't have asked for better!

    Fantastic production!

by kdcase on 12/25/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I’ve seen many productions of the Nutcracker, and this is by far the best one. Live orchestra not recorded. Fantastic dancing and athleticism! I also liked a little different artistic direction of the storybook theme. Every production does their own take, but I loved this one! I was impressed with Cobb Energy Center. First time been there, and our seats had a great view. Sometimes you don’t know what you’re purchasing online. Ushers were very helpful in showing me where our seats Great performance and experience!!

The unknown "Technical problem"ruined the day

    by Cheryl on 12/25/23

I chose the matinee for the precise purpose of NOT being stuck in Atlanta traffic. The delay of over an hour and a half blew that for me. The fact that the venue took nearly an hour to even say there was a problem was rude to say the least. The fact it took so long left me annoyed and frustrated. So the three stars are for production team, public relations team and Cobb Energy Center. You can all do better. As for the performers, Id give you 100 stars if I could. The show itself was beautifully done and I enjoyed it so much. So much talent, grace and beauty was on that stage!!! I like the mice and some of the other dancers introducing a bit of humor as well! Just hated that the commute home took twice as long as it wouldve if the show was on time. Hopefully next year will be better.

    Fox

by Zach on 12/24/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The production was great. It was my first time seeing it at Cobb instead of the Fox. I felt like it lost so much just by not being at the Fox. It’s just hard to replace that feel, especially at Christmas time. But well done to the players and dancers.

Technical difficulties delayed and limited the event

by Gnrlyspking on 12/24/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

The ballet performers did beautifully but the overall experience was not at all great. The ballet was delayed for quite some time due to technical difficulties; and, didn't seem like a quality presentation. It felt rushed once it started and I could see the technical difficulties were not fully resolved. This was my first nutcracker ballet so I was excited to go, and I left feeling like I had too high expectations and could have chosen better. Thankfully, I have heard from the center, without contacting them myself, and they apologized and offered a discount ticket for a future ballet. I will take them up on their offer!

    Technical Glitch Mars Performance

by Pam R on 12/23/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

A technical glitch delayed the performance by over 90 minutes. I was able to stay for only the first half. What I saw was magical and enchanting. Atlanta Ballet has offered half price tickets for any future performance, but the technical problems spoiled the experience for me.

    First Time Ever!

by Rico on 12/23/23Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

We were made to wait for 1hr and 37minutes before the ballet started. Technical difficulties was the reason and during that time we were made to sit. There was a full orchestra but no one played a note to entertain us while we waited. It appears that the ballet was cut short of the 2hrs 8min run time. There were multimedia issues during the performance. That being said the performance was really good and the Cobb Center failed the performers and the audiences. The orchestra was also very good. First time ever to have such a long delay. Not pleased with how they handled the issue.
