About

Everclear in Concert

Everclear put a firm stamp on modern rock in the 1990s, when they dominated alternative radio with their infectious mix of angsty grunge riffs and bright pop hooks. While the musical landscape has drastically changed since then, the band has continued to embrace their hard-rock roots well into the 21st century.

Everclear's story starts with Los Angeles-born frontman Art Alexakis. After a difficult childhood in Southern California, he moved to San Francisco, where his career in music started to take shape. There, he formed a few country-punk bands — including The Easy Hoes and Colorfinger — and founded his own Shindig Records in the late ‘80s. But it was his eventual move to Portland, Oregon, that sealed his rock-star fate.

After placing an ad in a local Portland paper, Alexakis met bassist Craig Montoya and drummer Scott Cuthbert, and Everclear was officially established in 1992 when the trio began performing at local gigs. The next year, they recorded their debut EP, Nervous & Weird. It was then expanded and turned into their first full-length, World of Noise, released on indie label Tim/Kerr. With an album to their name, the group hit the road, performing in cities around the U.S. as they sought a major-label deal. In 1994, they signed to Capitol Records, all while going through a slight lineup shift with Cuthbert being replaced by new drummer Greg Eklund.

Their second album and first for Capitol, Sparkle and Fade, appeared in 1995 and caught on quickly with catchy singles like "Santa Monica." That momentum continued to grow with their next release, 1997's So Much for the Afterglow, which went double platinum thanks to modern-rock hits "Everything to Everyone," "Father of Mine," and "I Will Buy You a New Life."

Everclear rolled into 2000 with just as much ambition, releasing Songs from an American Movie, Vol. 1: Learning How to Smile and its second volume, Good Time for a Bad Attitude. But by the band's 10th anniversary in 2004, Alexakis remained the only founding member, so he invited three new musicians into the lineup. The next decade saw the band back on indie labels, releasing a few more albums of original material, while hitting up popular festivals like the Vans Warped Tour and the now-annual Summerland Tour — founded by Alexakis in 2012 — featuring Everclear alongside other ‘90s rock vets.

    All The Best Everclear Tunes

by RockinDaddio on 5/7/24Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

The show was high energy and enthusiastic. Art's vocal chords seemed to be strained, perhaps due to his MS, but it didn't distract from the show. I appreciate the fact that he's still going strong despite this challenge.

    Everclear at the Tally Ho

by Lenny on 5/6/24Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

Great show for a small venu like the Tally Ho. Some of the small venu problems like mics not working or guitar volumes fluctuating. But for a casual performance at a local area, small town feel, it was an outstanding event. Band was great. Played well to the crowd.

Still as Good as 30 Years Ago

by Biking Viking on 5/6/24Tally Ho Theater - Leesburg

I first saw Everclear in the Pacific Northwest during the height of their popularity, close to 30 years ago. Having seen them several times since, I can without a doubt state that Art and band still put on a great show. The acoustics in the Tally Ho Theater seems a little off, but at no fault of the band. I'd see them again even in the same venue. Everclear still rocks & engage the fans like few other bands.

Disappointed with the performance of Everclear. Singing was very flat and the sound was not good. The opening band was fantastic!!

    Vocals/sound issues

by CoGo on 4/16/24Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Open act Sister Hazel was highly disappointing…I don’t know if it was just the lead singer couldn’t hear himself or there was mic issues but he sounded off and not on key! Everclear had the same issues with lead singers microphone and didn’t sound very good. Took away from the experience as a whole!

    Sound check

by Watty on 4/16/24Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

The experience was awesome great concert .guitar playing and drumming was on point . The only downfall to this concert was the vocals sound was to low I believe. Guitars were overtaking the lead singer at times. All and all great concert

    Horrible

by Melissa on 4/15/24River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Sister Hazel was excellent. Everclear was horrible. I think they didn’t do a sound check or something. He barely sang into the microphone, was a hit and miss for words. Never stayed for the whole thing. I’ve been to many concerts and this one was exceptionally horrible. Definitely not worth $200 a ticket

    Very Disappointing

by Rocker on 4/15/24River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Venue is not good acoustically for concerts. Flat stage, flat seating. Lead singers of both acts had very poor vocals. I went to see them sing/play not get the audience to sing the songs for them. Very disappointed.

    Band 👍 Venue 👎

by Becky on 4/5/24XL Live - Harrisburg

The band was good, the venue not so much. We really liked the set-up of the venue, but the balance during the show was terrible! The lead guitar and backup vocals were non-existent 😤 The songs we knew didn’t sound right at all!!

    Great show!

by Tara on 3/27/24XL Live - Harrisburg

Everclear was fantastic at Club XL. Their set was a blend of hits and times to show their talents with past songs and instrumental riffs. Energetic and fun!
