Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

    Breathtaking As Always

by Lillie on 11/21/23Madison Square Garden - New York

I’ve seen dave matthews band a couple times but this is my first at this venue, second on this tour. The msg fan atmosphere is different than others i’ve been to, a bit of a tamer crowd. It was nice however, to be able to see the band better, it felt more personable. The finale before the encore was absolutely incredible. All the guest musicians were great as well. Though I wasn’t there to see it live on Friday, I also appreciate dave for touching on the issues in Gaza. It’s important to speak up and it takes a lot of courage. So much respect for the whole group. Will see them again next tour.

    Know what you’re getting into…

    by bro on 11/17/23

I see some previous reviews with people complaining they don’t play enough of their “hits”. Extreme DMB fans don’t want most of the radio songs and they know that. If you’re going hoping to hear Crash Into Me then you’ll be disappointed. They know their hardcore fans don’t want that. That being said, I’ve seen DMB over 50 times and the CT shows, especially the 2nd night, were way too mellow. People around us were sitting and I’ve never seen people sit at a Dave show. Who wants to sit during DMB?! Well I guess people will when they play too many slow songs. Hopefully next tour they won’t play so many tracks off the new album since it’s not their best.

    The Best!!

by PollyPZ on 11/17/23Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

I've been to lots of DMB concerts. They're always fabulous. Even when it's pouring rain. But this concert at Mohegan Sun was over the top excellent. Dave started playing at 7:30 and played straight through to almost 11:00 p.m. How do they do that night after night? We had great seats. The sound was awesome. And as always Dave and the guys were stupendous.

Dave Matthew’s Band at Mohegan Sun Arena

by Elzabelza on 11/17/23Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Did not enjoy this concert at all. I spent a ton of money and got to hear one song I knew. They should put their set list up so people can decide if they want to go. I was so disappointed ☹️

    Dave is great!!

by JT on 11/16/23John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

The JPJ arena can feel like a tight squeeze in the corridors on exit and in Merch lines. Ran out of wine before the show started. On top of that they served white Zinfandel which is the worst wine just about. Really don’t like the fact that Ticketmaster sets a minimum resale value on tickets you purchased from them. Your tickets they say you can’t sell for any less than theirs pretty much. That is garbage. Had to sacrifice a potential ticket sale and lost the money because of that.

    Dave Matthews Band (DMB)

by DawgMan on 11/16/23Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Wow! I've seen a lot of concerts since 1972 and DMB ranks as one of the best! My first DMB concert and hopefully a few more in my future. I may have been the only fan seeing DMB for the first time...many hardcore DMB fans who know every word to every song. I expected to remain seated for the entire concert...wrong...you stand for almost three hours and love it! DMB played non-stop, one song after another, and leave the internet setlist at home...DMB does not follow the rules and some songs have an interesting twist...i.e., added five minutes of instrumental music Accolades to Dave himself...looks good, fit, and voice sounds great. He takes care of himself. Enjoyed watching the multiple instruments used...a wide variety. A lot of talent on the stage. Kudos to Mohegan Sun (CT) casino...where we saw DMB. A first class venue, great sound system, reminded me of a high end Las Vegas venue.

Dave is getting a bit unhinged

by Old but kicky on 11/15/23John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

The sound was off - heard few lyrics and lots of jam music. I love loud good music but then why sing? Why does everyone stand? In get that floor people must stand, but when We have seats especially at front of balcony seating, do we need to stand for 3 hrs?? And why? Sat night seemed like Part 2 of a 2 day concert - didn’t hear a lot of familiar tunes. Not a good concert for DMB 101 fans

DMB Great, JPJ Arena Excellent, Sound Mixer Terrible

by Dan J on 11/15/23John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

DMB? Great as always. I love how every concert is a different mix of songs from their long career. This was our first time in Charlottesville, VA. It is an awesome college town and good food and drinks. The John Paul Jones Arena was a nice venue. Easy in and out. Reasonable food and beverage prices (a rarity in today's concert scene). The worst aspect for me was the sound guy on Day 2 completely missed the mark. It was nothing but base and ruined the enjoyment of the 2nd half of the show.

    Always bringing their A GAME!

by Destindreamn on 11/15/23John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

After 9 DMB concerts I can say that the guys are never a disappointment! Fantastic musicians that know how to jam and love what they do. Good time for those who want more than a live performance of a studio album.
