Feist was excellent. She is a great entertainer. However ticket master sent me an email a few hours before telling me that door would be open at 6 and Box office at 7 but neglected to tell me that the concert would then start at 8:30. So I had to kill two hours at the university. Not impressed. Their email was very badly written.
I don't know what was going on with the sound at Town Hall but it was really bad. I had trouble enjoying the show because the vocal sound was constantly changing mid song and without any really clear intentions behind it. Very frustrating, but of course Feist is an incredible performer and has so much charisma, I was happy to see her live.
One of the best concerts hands down. Leslie Feist is the coolest
Only a handful of jokes strung together by 1.5 hours of exquisitely wondeful music
Feist must have had an off night when she came to perform at Raleigh...she really did not seem to want to be there. In between her songs, she would talk about how she felt all alone even though she was in a room full of people, and she complained about how singing in Raleigh was a "waste of time" (direct quote). Her songs and voice are beautiful, but I was really surprised and dissapointed by her sarcasm and negativity on stage, enough to where I probably won't pay to see her again. It probably doesn't help that Raleigh Progress Energy Center was a terrible place for her act. Despite spending a lot of money on assigned seating, everyone surged to the front of the theater like it was an outdoor concert, to where no one could see unless they were standing the whole time. I saw several people leave when that happened, and I don't blame them. Next time, just hold it outdoors at Walnut Pavilion...
Feist was one of my favorite concerts ever. Her voice is so amazing, and you don't even really hear this band until you see them live! The live clips on the net do not do them justice. Feist was a guitar-weilding, kicking powerhouse!
Feist was perfect and I not only liked the music and lyrics but I liked her energy and genuiness. Also, the back-up singers were dazzling. She played almost all the songs that I expected and each song came-across and resonated with me. I want to here her again, and I hope that she was not disappointed with our Pittsburgh audience, which was kind of flat; we were not dancing in the isles. Still we loved her an her music.
Great event from music standpoint but 2.5 hr wait for main act was a bit killer esp in the wet grass even drinking beer and chillin w friends (1.0 + hour after opening band was done playing). You may want to rethink folks standing up in lawn area since folks get there early , lay out a blanket w great view, high five each other only to have someone show up 5 mins prior to start time and stand in front of you since they didn't have a plan and didn't care who they stood in front of. First time to A & E but if website explained any of this (ie: Doors pen at 7:00 but opening act doesn't start til 8:30, ) it would of made for a better night - we weren't the only ones stating these main gripes/whines.
For my first visit to the Strathmore center I was at first impressed by the size, cleanliness, and professionals running the event. But to keep this a short review and cut straight to the point, the sound man had quite a bit of trouble throughout the show. From the intial lack of ANY vocals to recurrent feedback, to the crowd begging the guy running the board for more vocals later on in the show, it was just riddled with technical deficiencies. I'm not saying it was a flop. As I stated in the title, Leslie was able to carry on with complete grace and sounded magnificent. I would go to any of her shows whether at a struggling venue or a top-notch location. I'm not even typically into her poppy-jazzy-folksy style, but her voice and creativity are very remarkable and the band is certainly worth a listen.
This was by far the best show I've ever been too. It was different, high level with excellence in music and presentation and crowd interaction. The venue was incredible as well.
Wonderful concert shared with a wonderful man. The venue was a little large I think for her taste.
I love Feist recordings but I found that her live show got swallowed up by Radio City. Maybe the it wasn't mixed correctly or because I was on the very side of the venue, but I had a hard time hearing her. The band was great, she was entertaining. I just wish she would have had more punch.
Awesome concert! Loved it! Feist is the best!!!!!!
I've been a fan of Feist since her first album. When "Metals" came out, I bought it eagerly, but was a bit confused. It was clearly a good album that was a product of a lot of thought and care, but for some reason, it just felt a little overcomplicated. I couldn't get deeply into the music. Seeing her in concert was nothing short of a revelation. She is an unbelievable performer, who takes her music and develops it into something original, stirring, and truly revelatory. Songs I had heard on the CD turned into creations of instruments, backups, and most clearly Feist's voice, which rose above the symphony behind her to transcend any arrangement I had ever heard. Old songs, such as Mushaboom, took on a slightly, I'll call it resentful for lack of a better word, cast completely foreign to the original. The entire audience was wowed. Feist is a true performer, who can customize and interpret songs to express the complicated and genuine emotions she feels and wants to express to the audience. I am honored to have heard her perform.
Fesit's voice was amazingly clear and smooth, such great sound. Her backup singers were the BOMB!
Great place to see a show, great performance by Feist and Co.
Feist is amazing, one of the best live shows I've been to. Go see her whenever you can.
For being such a small venue her sound level was set for the target center. She tried to be funny and interact with the audience but she didn't seem to have much of a personality. I think she was over priced and was somewhat boring.
Hands down best live show I've ever seen live! Feist and her back up band were completely amazing. Her voice was perfection and her energy and interaction with the crowd made it an unforgettable and thoroughly enjoyable show. She even invited a large group of fans on stage to join her for a dance party. Her music is great but seeing it live is a whole new experience.
