    broadway on the road

by YOGG on 8/22/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Guys and Dolls was every bit as good in the Fox Theatre as it could have been had I seen it on Broadway. The dance routines were great as was the singing by every one of the main characters. The actors who played Nicely-Nicely, Benny, and Nathan Detroit especially stood out. Highly recommended with this cast.

Glenn Rainey was awesome throughout the show - and especially on the song sit down you're rocking the boat - I hope he comes back to the Fox Theatre.

Great set, lighting, singing and dancing. Quality of orchestral accompanyment sound projection just OK (sounded a little tinny sometimes). Liked that you could take drinks and popcorn to seats for performance.

    Guys & Dolls

by cercone01 on 8/22/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

excellent cast with great voices. even our 12 year olds enjoyed. Sad that the theatre was about half empty. Maybe the ticket price is too high for old musical shows. Highly enjoyable!

A most enjoyable evening. Recently moved to Atlanta, so my first time at the Fox Theater, which is beautiful, made me felt like I was back in time. All staff were helpful and friendly. During the break, I was so impressed with how quickly the ladies lounge attendants helped the ladies move through the line, it was very organized. In terms of the show... AMAZING... What wonderfully talented cast. Miss Adelaide and Nicely-Nicely were outstanding and my favorite characters, but they were all FANTASTIC.

This 80-year old musical is just as fantastic today, a real classic. The acting and singing and dancing were top class, and so well delivered. Thank you!

Great show....mostly strong cast...I have never been to a show at the Fox with so many empty seats....a sign of the times I suppose. I wish more people could enjoy these shows.

Much, much better than the dreadful movie

by Sinistra on 8/19/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

The production of "Guys and Dolls" was overall very good. The dancing and choreography were superb. Most of the voices were very good. I was disappointed that the words, spoken and sung, were not always clearly enunciated; many good lines were missed. The "Adelaide" actress overdid the nasal Bronx accent; the over-resonated singing was unpleasant and detracted from the character's impact. There was too much brass in the small orchestra, to the point where the voices were sometimes overwhelmed; I think it would have been more effective to let the voices be dominant. The microphoning was a bit too loud for my taste, but at least I did not have to put in earplugs.

    Guys & Dolls was superb!

by Schmageggie on 8/19/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

It is a great classic and quite cheesy, and we loved every minute of it. With the exception of the leading lady, ALL of the lead voices were outstanding. Adelaide stole the show. Great fun and well worth it. The roles of Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit, and Nicely Nicely Johnson (a local Atlantan) were VERY well performed and sung.

Guys and Dolls packed with talent!

by MADRC2 on 8/18/11Fox Theatre Atlanta - Atlanta

Was nervous taking my 75 year young mother-in-law and 15 year young daughter to Guys and Dolls. I wasn't familiar with much of the music and had never seen the movie. I knew it was a romantic comedy but that was the extent of my knowledge. I didn't know if being unfamiliar and trying to meet the expectations of such an age range would make for an entertaining evening. HOWEVER, all of us loved the production! Very talented group!

    Guys and Dolls Fantastic

by LordGaga14 on 4/16/11Lyell B Clay Concert Theatre - Morgantown

I saw the production on opening night on Thursday, I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing. Such a great cast with a morbid talent. The set was fantastic! The only thing that I was disappointed with was choreography. I was expecting a little more in that area, so it was kind of a let down. The orchestra was amazing and just great! All in all, it was a great show that everyone worked hard on. I'd definitely recommend to a friend.
