    Horrible venue

by Oshmom on 11/3/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

I’ve gone every year for 10+ years. Paid for premier tickets but ended up watching the final night from home. The venue is way too far from DC and with traffic it was 2 hours to get there every night. It’s a tiny venue and not worth it. Unless they move it back to Downtown DC I won’t go again.

    Saturday at WIHS

by CH on 11/3/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

The horse show was fantastic. Professional course management, good pacing of events, excellent sight lines. We will be back! A few minor wrinkles - there’s no indication on the emailed ticket or the associated documents that the purchase included the buffet. At the buffet itself, there were no labels on the items - you know, little markers saying “risotto with cumin” etc. a work in progress I guess. In one webpage, WIHS headquarters near Annapolis map loaded instead of the Show venue in Largo - oops! On the other hand, parking (which was free) was particularly well organized. Overall, it was a great experience and we recommend it highly!

    Food options terrible

by Liz on 10/31/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

The in-house options were terrible and almost everything was sold out by 7pm. To be fair the taste was fine by the options were just whatever they managed to get catered in. No hot food, very few choices, and most things sold out. We went back for cake and they didn't have any forks left. The Grand Prix itself was great but cost was very high for not having really concessions and having to drive several miles out of the city

    Show Jumping never disappoints but…..

by Equis on 10/31/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Loved the accessibility and customer experience of the DC arena over Upper Marlboro. Food and vender options were limited and not of the same quality. With that said, the Grand Prix was superb! The course was challenging, the riders were up for the task and the horses were magnificent. Can’t await for next year.

    Not well planned as expected

by Kamran on 10/31/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

The Ticketmaster process was smooth although it did not clearly pointed Rows and numbers on the map before purchase. The show management however was at another level. I purchased tickets for dinner that to my surprise were not on the roster of the catering management and we were denied entry until we prove we had the dinner included in the tickets. Going back to the box office no one rechecked me out so upon re-entry our tickets were not valid so they denied entry back to the arena. Total miss-management!! NO AC in a 90F+ weather!!! Very very disappointed. Need I say more

Great riders, location could be better somewhere else

by Rose on 10/31/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Riders were amazing! Location was too far out on highways with cars racing each other and crazy (dangerous), high traffic roadways. We had to park in over flow parking on a hill in the dark. There were no workers up there and no lights. Didn’t feel safe up there. People inside working were not helpful or friendly. They didn’t know where to send us. No agenda, no time schedule given out. When we found our seats that we paid $350 dollars for; there were already people sitting in them who gave me a hard time leaving my seats!!! There were no ushers so even though you pay extra for good seats; other people move around and take the seats without paying. No one watches and you have to ask people to move yourself out of your paid seat. The dinner option was nice, but the food was very small amounts and cold. Not worth it. We would have ate dinner before coming had we had known it would be such a disappointment. There were so many breaks in between Saturday night events Long periods of waiting time. We were there until after 11 p.m. most of the time sitting and waiting. Riders were great, but won’t go back to this location.

    Loved it!

by Valerie on 10/31/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Over the years, I have attended many International horse shows. I love that they have moved it out of the middle of DC. The Show Place Arena is easy to get to, safer and has great parking. My only problem with the venue is they only have one food vendor inside that sells canned or bottled water and soda and some food. They also have vending machines that you can get something from. I would love to see more vendors inside and fountain sodas. They did have a few food trucks outside this year which was an improvement from last year. They do, however, allow you to take snacks and drinks in. These problems will not keep me away. Love the horses, jumping, jack russell races, etc. See you next year.

Terrible food at Washington International Horse Show

by Gary on 10/30/23Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Purchased two dinner tickets for the WIHS and the food was terrible. It was $100 per ticket and we received a styrofoam plate and plastic utensils and offered cold, hard tasteless buffet selections. No heating tray to warm food. No sauces. All five selections (overcooked chicken skewers, hard cheese fritters, mini sandwiches with a small drop of cold meat, a lobster roll with zero lobster on the roll, mini bite size desert pies right out of a box and everything was dried out and tasteless. I am not sure who to blame but it was probably all set up by the WIHS and not Ticketmaster. Half of the serving platters were empty. If you ever go to the Washington International Horse Show, absolutely do Not buy the dinner ticket. Go to a nice restaurant before you go then go to the show.

Don’t get the ticket with food

by Laura on 12/22/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

The facility and the show were great but don’t waste your money on the food package ticket. The food quality was terrible and they ran out of things within the first 15min. Complete waste of money and I was very disappointed.

    Saturday night

by Betsy on 11/3/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Loved the show and staff were great. The lines to get food were ridiculous. We went outside to get something to drink and the lines outside were too long too. The vending machines were empty too. It was a sold out show on Saturday night and only one vendor to get food and drinks from inside.
