Show was great. Venue not so much

by jilly on 11/2/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

This is my 4th year attending the show; the first at the new venue. The show was great. The venue (at least this round) left a lot to be desired. There was a lot of confusion at the entrance. The entrance opened about 20 minutes late. We had "will call" tickets. No problem getting the tickets but there were huge lines of people waiting to enter. No one in any line knew what the line was for. We asked them. After entering, we got to our seat and enjoyed the show. During intermission, we went to find food. Only one concession stand in the venue with an incredibly long line. We were told there would be a line of food trucks in the back of the venue. Only two food trucks with very long lines. We went back to the rest of the show very hungry. If the show will be at this venue, they need to get their act together. Downtown is better because of access to local restaurants.

    disappointed

by Doc. on 11/2/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

When choosing our seats online, we were not aware they were next to a barrier. We could not see the total ring. With the price of the tickets we expected that the seats would have given us better views. Or we would not have chosen.

    Poor set up for crowd

by Horseswithwings on 11/2/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

The show was great. The set up for crowd was terrible. Only one concession with a line wrapped around the arena. Drink machines were broken or empty. Bathrooms had few stalls so those lines were long as well. We were there for 4 hrs and couldn’t get a drink. This was much better when at the Verizon Center.

    Bring WIHS back to DC

by horse girl on 11/2/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

I have always had a wonderful and fun experience attending the WIHS in DC. The new venue in MD was a mismanaged mess. It was very crowded at the entrance and took a very long time to have your tickets checked to enter. There was only one concession stand and the wait was over an hour to actually get food. Every vending machine was empty, could get anything to drink. I will not be returning to the new venue in MD. Very disappointing

Great venue for horses not for large crowds

by R. B. on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Show was great. Venue and concessions were very deficient. Verizon Center services were significantly better.

Nice Venue All The Seats Have A Great View

by Kat on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

One extreme area to think about would be setting up more concession stands. Only one was open and the line wrapped around the ring. Not a good set up when one needs some refreshments to enjoy the show.

    Venue is not the best

by R. E. on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Disappointing venue. When it was held Capital One Arena it was a better event

    Incredibly disorganized

by C on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Barely any food, one concessions line which was incredibly long, advertisement of food trucks but only one was open and line was also incredibly long, pacing of events was off - way too much downtime and premier jump off started too late. Overall incredibly disappointing

Great show, need better seating map

by CJ on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

The show was great! My seat could’ve been better. On the seating chart, it did not show the “wall” which obstructed some of my view. Had I known this, I may have chosen a different seat

    Great Venue!!!

by Jay on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

We were so excited that the WIHS was held in Prince George's County. The venue is ideally suited for this event--with stables on site, ample (free) parking, and easy access. Our seats were in section 114 and the view was great. Due to the size of the venue I believe the view would have been great from any seat. We loved that some of the competitors came and sat in our section and talked with us. Barn night, the terrier races, and the costume class were so much fun. We just had the best time all around. I only had a few suggestions for next year--more than one concession stand would be helpful; a bigger tv monitor/scoreboard in the arena so we can read the print; and louder speakers so we can hear what the riders were saying when they were given a microphone after their courses. Thanks again for bringing this event to Prince George's County. We are proud to have such a wonderful event in our hometown and can't wait to welcome you back next year.

    Day at the Horse Show

by Quiltmom on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

We arrived by 11 am and saw the Kids Day event was starting up. Looked like fun so I will. Ring the grandkids for that next year. The indoor arena was running Pony hunter classes that were fun to watch. Next was the Amateur owner Jumpers. Last on the afternoon schedule was the jumper phase of the Equitation Final. For the evening events, out Ticketmaster selected seats were awful. There wasn’t a good seating chart, so I didn’t know row K was the top, or that we would be crammed into an obstructed view corner that didn’t show on the general seating plan that only showed the sections. Luckily we moved down several rows until we could see, and no one questioned it. The evening events were fun to watch, including the Shetland pony Steeplechase. The Grand Prix jumping class was the real reason we came, and it did not disappoint. Thirty entries gave nine clear rounds and a thrilling jump off . I will go again next year, but will try to find another place to buy the tickets. Very annoyed with Ticketmaster!

    Fun, but crowded

by KJH on 11/1/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

We enjoyed seeing the WIHS, but the venue was a bit difficult to navigate. The halls were incredibly crowded and there was little to no traffic flow. We were also told there were food trucks, but there was no signage or instruction on how to reach them. Overall, the show was excellent, but the venue wasn't.

Not what it use to be.

by Galloping Grandma on 10/31/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

I was quite disappointed in the horse show. It didn’t seem special, just another hunter show with the minimum of International competition. The classes that made it special were gone. The Ambassadors’ Night, Hunt Night, foxhound exhibitions by local hunts, the Mounted Police competition, Western night, the Jack Russell terrier’s races were always fun, there were different exhibitions i.e the U.S. Army Cavalry horse mounted unit. There was always a crowd. I also spent a good bit time looking for programs that ended up just a print out that was hard to read. The jumper courses weren’t anything to rave about. I remember when it was at the DC Armory where all the courses had different types of jumps and were beautifully set with floral arrangements. When it moved to the Capital Center the quality remained. It started to go down when moved the Capital One Center. If it weren’t for my granddaughter wanted to come, I don’t think I would go back

    So much fun!

by Natty on 10/30/22Show Place Arena - Upper Marlboro

Enjoyed the costumes and the fundraising jumps. Parking was easy. Crowd sing-a-long moments were fun too. The only gripe was concession options for such a long show.

    Enjoyable

    by M. S. on 10/31/19Capital One Arena - Washington

It was an enjoyable experience but 2 things need improvement. The program lacked information about the actual event; it was mostly history of past such events. A program should tell you who is participating; their recent record, etc. The public address system was poor, often unintelligible . It (& the pace & tone of the voice of the announcer) should be adjusted for the echo that results from the small number of people at an event like this instead of the large crowd that muffles the echo at hockey or basketball games

It was a great evening, with a great atmosphere in the crowd

    by D. J. on 10/30/19Capital One Arena - Washington

Well organized, better this year than last, the sound could have been better, more food vendors than last year which was good, and the show itself of course which was fantastic.
