Detroit Pistons History

One of the most storied franchises in NBA history, the Pistons moved to Detroit in 1957 from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they were owned by Fred Zollner and known as the Fort Wayne (Zollner) Pistons. The Pistons played at Olympia Stadium for four years, then moved to Cobo Arena. In 1974, Bill Davidson purchased the team, and in 1978, the team began playing at the Pontiac Silverdome.

Prior to the start of the 1988–89 season, the Pistons moved to play at The Palace of Auburn Hills and won back-to-back NBA Championships in 1989 and 1990 with the "Bad Boys" teams. Detroit's "Goin' to Work" squad picked up the franchise's third NBA Championship in 2004 in the midst of making six consecutive trips to the Eastern Conference Finals.

In addition to the numerous team accomplishments, the Pistons also have had a list of great players and coaches who have contributed to the team's long history of success. Detroit has retired jersey numbers for Chuck Daly (2), Isiah Thomas (11), Joe Dumars (4), Dave Bing (21), Bob Lanier (16), Dennis Rodman (10), Vinnie Johnson (15), Bill Laimbeer (40), Ben Wallace (3), Chauncey Billups (1) and Richard Hamilton (32). Daly, Thomas, Dumars, Bing, Lanier, Rodman and Davidson all have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

    Great transfer

by Andi on 3/1/22Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

The tickets were a Christmas present from our daughter and SiL. The transfer was very easy and went into my “iphone wallet” digitally. Seats were great at Lttle CEASAR arena. We didn’t have to walk far or climb stairs. As for the Pistons vs Celtics, the game itself was close. But in the end we lost. Oh well.

    Beautiful Venue

by KV1987 on 2/4/22Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

I mean, it’s a young team boy expected to do much right now, but that venue! The venue alone was worth every moment. It was beautiful, clean as heck and you can tell there is pride taken in maintaining it. Will be back multiple times but never again for a basketball game, it’s so boring!

Could not resale tickets in Canada for a game in the US

    by T. S. on 1/17/22Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

We purchased 3 Tickets for Pistons v Raptors. We are from Ontario Canada and the game was in Detroit. After we bought the tickets the Omnicron hit and the Canadian gov’t required PCR tests to be done before Canadians could cross from US back to Canada. But you could not find testing sites and it takes 2 days to get results. I tries to resell tickets on your website but it wanted address and bank account. When I tried to use my Visa it would not take my address because only addresses in the US would be accepted. Ao myself and 9 other friends had not attend the game and we all paid over $100 for our tickets. Horrible policy!!

    Best game ever

by TaSapp on 1/13/22Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

I was closer than I’d ever been. I was in section 122. Cad Cunningham gave me his arm sleeve and a high five. The only thing missing was the dancing guy. I can’t wait to to another game.

    Poor deaign

by Doesn't Matter on 1/11/22Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

If you don't have vertigo before attending a game at Little Caesars Arena, once you sit anywhere else besides the lower bowl area... You will. The NBA games are overrun with bad hip hop music and it's like they try and make the game experience like it's a night club. This is sending the wrong message to our kids. What a bad experience.

    Water bottle tops

by Chip on 1/4/22Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Bought two bottles of water with my pizza. They said the tops must be removed at the counter. I placed them in the holder and my first move to lift them was very slow and deliberate, still both open bottles tipped over and spilled all over the counter... This is a really stupid rule and needs to go away.

Food vouchers did not work at concessions

by Jon on 12/21/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Food vouchers did not work at concessions, I would not recommend buying any package with a food voucher as the register scanner will probably not work and then you will have to pay twice for the same thing.

    Protective Glass Could be Cleaner

by Josh L on 12/15/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

First off, the facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The experience was good overall. The reason for the three stars is the protective glass/plastic in front of us. We were seated on the first row of one of the upper balconies and there is a protective glass/plastic that you are looking though the entire game. It was filled with water marks/dots no matter the location (we had six seats total). It was very distracting and a little disappointing for the price of the tickets.
