Detroit Pistons History

One of the most storied franchises in NBA history, the Pistons moved to Detroit in 1957 from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they were owned by Fred Zollner and known as the Fort Wayne (Zollner) Pistons. The Pistons played at Olympia Stadium for four years, then moved to Cobo Arena. In 1974, Bill Davidson purchased the team, and in 1978, the team began playing at the Pontiac Silverdome.

Prior to the start of the 1988–89 season, the Pistons moved to play at The Palace of Auburn Hills and won back-to-back NBA Championships in 1989 and 1990 with the "Bad Boys" teams. Detroit's "Goin' to Work" squad picked up the franchise's third NBA Championship in 2004 in the midst of making six consecutive trips to the Eastern Conference Finals.

In addition to the numerous team accomplishments, the Pistons also have had a list of great players and coaches who have contributed to the team's long history of success. Detroit has retired jersey numbers for Chuck Daly (2), Isiah Thomas (11), Joe Dumars (4), Dave Bing (21), Bob Lanier (16), Dennis Rodman (10), Vinnie Johnson (15), Bill Laimbeer (40), Ben Wallace (3), Chauncey Billups (1) and Richard Hamilton (32). Daly, Thomas, Dumars, Bing, Lanier, Rodman and Davidson all have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

    First time seeing LeBron play

by AyeMrRager on 11/25/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

What a fun, crazy game to attend. I wanted to see LeBron play basketball in person for the first time. I almost witnessed malice at the place part 2, and LeBron got ejected lol. This game went from almost being a blowout to an exciting close game. I’ll be back next season for the Lakers/Pistons game.

Took my son, seats as described, affordable and good view

by Mr Puffers on 11/25/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

When tempers flared it was a little uncomfortable but a good game, I wanted Stones and my kid wanted LA so he was happy. That said, not a cheap evening when you throw in some food and beverage on top of the tickets.

    bad experience in The D

by Quest on 11/25/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

First of all I got LCA 1 hour prior to tip-off the traffic was soo bad it took myself till the middle of second quarter to make it it my seats, mind you they were 1k doe the tickets 45 to park, which I don’t mind I wanted to See the Lakers, but the fact that it was soo congested made me realize that I will never go to another event there, and the worst part of the night, was my son didn’t get to see Lebron Play because he got ejected on the beginning of the third period, so it was a bad experience all around nevwr again

    So Exciting

by Brando on 11/24/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Even though we didn't win, were surrounded by Lakers fans and Blake tried to brain Isaiah, my favorite player, it was such a good game. We were up high, and the view was incredible. I can not wait to go to Little Cesars again.

Seats were overpriced, did not see Steph Curry play

by AY on 11/22/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

The 60 dollar gondola seats were not good at all, at least you should be able to see the court and I could not. Half of it was covered with two layers of glass fencing. Wanted to see Steven Curry play, he did not show up. I wish I could have my money back.

    Not worth it

by Ayeebruh on 11/22/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Just not worth it. You literally sit touching arms with a disrespectful family, that act like hooligans the whole time. Enjoyed the game. Didnt enjoy the company

    The Stars Didn't Play

by Skywalker1 on 11/22/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Steph, Draymond and Iggy didn't play.. They rested. I paid to see them more than anyone so it was disappointing. Wish I could've known in advance.

    Absolutely terrible

by MJ on 11/22/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

After spending a good amount of money on tickets, many of the opposing teams players decided to sit out the game. This was a complete waste of my money and I definitely will think twice about attending another game in the NBA if this keeps happening.

    Palace > LCA

by B on 10/23/21Little Caesars Arena - Detroit

Seats are tiny and uncomfortable in the lower bowl. The concourses are crowded and the concession lines are long. If you dare wait in line for food you would miss half the game. I can’t even imagine what a mess the arena would be if you had a legit sell out.
