About

Pink Martini on Tour

A massive collective with a rotating membership that's been active since the early 1990s, Pink Martini are a little orchestra that knows no stylistic bounds. Playing classical and jazz, Latin and pop, what threads their performances together is a lighthearted, jazzy vibe that basically demands you move along with it. Pink Martini have performed with over 50 orchestras in cities around the world, from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony to the BBC Concert Orchestra. Their first live breakthrough came at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997, while their orchestral debut came in 1998 with the Oregon Symphony. The ensemble played several New Year's Eve concerts at L.A.'s Walt Disney Concert Hall across the 2000s and early 2010s, and they've performed multiple sold-out concerts at New York's Carnegie Hall. Their live performance at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon, was aired live on NPR and eventually released in 2009 as a live CD/DVD called Discover the World. The group have also graced late-night talk show stages, including Conan O'Brien, David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Pink Martini in Concert

Started by pianist Thomas Lauderdale in Portland, Oregon, in 1994 as an alternative to the event-based ensembles he'd grown tired of playing in, Pink Martini quickly attracted hugely talented musicians like China Forbes and Storm Large. Their first album, Sympathique, charted in Belgium, France and Switzerland and was certified gold in Greece, while the album's eponymous single was nominated for Song of the Year at France's Victoires de la Musique awards. Pink Martini's 2004 sophomore album, Hang On Little Tomato, charted at No. 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and went 2x platinum in France, also earning gold status in Canada, Germany and Greece. The group has released numerous lauded albums since, including their hugely popular A Retrospective in 2011, which contained 21 tracks from their career and charted at No. 7 on U.S. Billboard's Top Jazz Albums.

    Very good, but not great.

by My on 12/10/23Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

Pink Martini was good, but not great. I enjoyed this concert a lot, but likely wouldn’t do it again. There were issues with lights shining in our eyes, vent blowing cold air on us, and the sound not quite perfect. Interesting variety of music in many languages. Enjoyed China Forbes, but equally enjoyed the other (non-headliners) performers when they stepped out.

Superlative show by top class musicians

by Rod on 11/14/23Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

Like everyone else in the audience it was conga and shake your booty time! Everyone was familiar with the bands material and wanted more! I believe I heard like 12 different languages from the group.. something we all need and should respect in these nasty insane hate-filled times! VIVA Pink Martini !

Amazing show! Great mix of material. Superb musicians. Tickets at about $225 a pop were overpriced.

    Excellent

by Rodger on 11/12/23Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

The show was excellent as it is always with Pink Martini. However, the ticket I purchased was on a ticketmaster site but by a reseller which I did not know when I purchased it. If I would have gone to the authentic site for CASINO DU LAC LEAMY, I would had paid $85 Canadian for the ticket. The reseller was selling the ticket for $153, which I thought was very expensive but I still made the purchase. What a surprise when I received my credit card invoice. It was $153 American, which became $215 Canadian for the ticket which was really selling for $85 Canadian. What a scam!. Ticketmaster should have a way to identify those scammer who use your site to rob customers big time.

Well rounded, diversified numbers played flawlessly

by Papi Mig on 11/10/23Théâtre Capitole - Québec

There are 5 aspects, to the show. The first, is that the band has always succeeded in fostering harmony and peace among all different groups, such as numbers played in the Turkish, Japanese, Armenian languages. Secondly, there's the French speaking numbers, with success in France, that also resonate in Quebec, Canada, and Ms. China seems to have no difficulty in speaking French being from Massachussetts, where a large community of descentents from the Appalachians migrated 100 years ago, and maintain culture there. Third, there's the politically correct respect for Aboriginal rights, with Ms. Edna who played a few numbers in honor of those peoples. Fourth, there is the gospel -style numbers from the new member, having made his place with You Got Talent, on TV, and invitations at the JFK Performance Center, etc. Lastly, there are the most interesting numbers, in my opinion, being the Cuban, Latino Spanish language ones, and also those with Italian lyrics. The number of musicians here, about a dozen, is remarkable, considering many bands tour with only 4 or 5 musicians, and some backup vocalists. What stands out, is Ms China, the piano ( Mr Lauderdale, director), the guitar, and the violin. The rest of the members are also 100 percent pro's and flawless. A bargain at the ticket price sold, less than $80 CAD .

    Pink Martini hammers it

by Bear on 11/3/23Warner Theatre - Washington

This was the fourth time we've had tix to Pink Martini... always a great show... very energetic, very engaging, very fun! It never slows down, and never fails to delight in what you're hearing and seeing. Won't be the last time we go see them.

    Tried it, didn’t like it!

by Terri on 11/1/23American Theatre - Hampton

Followed all instructions, saved to my wallet, unable to scan at the venue. So, all the time taken to do so was wasted. Also, was denied ability to purchase a fourth seat next to our party. Got one 3 rows away. At the venue, there were 5 seats empty next to us. Could do better.

    Always a super show

by Pink Martini Groupie on 10/31/23American Theatre - Hampton

Had just seen Pink Martini in Paris, 10/13/2023 and was thrilled to introduce the band’s talent to my adult daughter 10/28/2023 closer to home in Hampton,VA She now loves them too! Missed Edna but all gave amazing performances especially China. Acoustically thought the sound was a little loud in this theater and like the group a little more spread out on stage but obviously not possible Sat. night. Very distracting to have so many late comers seated once the performance began, should not happen in the future! Still glad to be there and would not have missed it!

    Extraordinary!

by Jilzy on 10/31/23American Theatre - Hampton

What a talented group of musicians in their own right, but put them together on the stage and experience a whole new level of sound. From China whose voice is perfection, to Thomas, the pianist and bandleader, to Jimmy with the voice of an angel, to Timothy who brings humor to the stage, the trombonist from Greece--each and every one of them come together for a magical musical experience. Loved every song and could hear them over and over and still feel the same elation. They are not to be missed and I will make it my business to catch them whenever possible!!!

    As Always, A GREAT EXPERIENCE

    by KEN on 8/30/23

We first heard Pink Martini over 20 years ago in Arles, France where we heard them warming up for a concert. After we got back to the states, I found out that they were from Portland Or. and we have to gone to many of their concerts whenever we had the opportunity since then. They put on a great show and no two are ever alike.

    Best concert ever

    by JGLaw on 8/30/23

Had my 71st birthday party there with 15 of my family and friends. The night was perfect, with a million stars and a light summer breeze. But best of all was the music. Most people in my group had not heard of Pink Martini, so you can imagine how proud I was to introduce them to this wonderful, inspiring music. You now have 14 new devotees. Two of my guests had never been to an outdoor concert at this venue, I bet they will be first in line next year for concerts! Best Birthday Ever!
