About

What would happen if Sherlock Holmes and Monty Python had an illegitimate Broadway baby? You'd get THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, Broadway & London's award-winning smash comedy! Called "A GUT-BUSTING HIT" (The New York Times) and "THE FUNNIEST PLAY BROADWAY HAS EVER SEEN" (HuffPost), this classic murder mystery is chock-full of mishaps and madcap mania delivering "A RIOTOUS EXPLOSION OF COMEDY" (Daily Beast). Welcome to opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can't play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), it's "TONS OF FUN FOR ALL AGES" (HuffPost) and "COMIC GOLD" (Variety) – sure to bring down the house!

    Too Funny for Words

by Lorraine on 4/9/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The characters were similar to the ones on the television series. They made me laugh so hard my stomach ached. Equally as funny was the set and props. I spend much time trying to figure out "How's they do that?" I hope they travel again with another show. I wouldn't miss it.

The play that goes wrong - the right way to spend an evening

by Rachel on 4/6/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

If you don't get enough core exercise in your life - and who does? - then check out The Play That Goes Wrong. It will have you exercising those abdominals in no time! The humor in this play extends far beyond the dialogue, to the actual acting (where the actors expend alot of energy) and the set itself (don't want to give this part away). It's a great way to spend an evening and get a headstart on those washboard abs you always wanted.

A laugh every 10 seconds! THE most amazing stage tech! (Hope that doesn't give it away.)

    Hilarious, Witty and Ingenius

by bgd on 4/5/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I am not a person that laughs a lot. I smile and appreciate humor in many forms. The Play That Goes Wrong was ridiculous in the best way. It was a play within a play and both of them were hilarious. The acting is supposed to be bad and the situations improbable but it works. I laughed out loud through the entire show and I only wish it was going to be extended once more so that I could see it again. I loved it. It isn't subtle wit but I appreciated every outrageous minute.

A laugh riot and a great evening!

by Figaro on 3/31/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

A masterful cast presented the funniest thing I’ve seen live in so long I can’t ever remember when. Following in the great tradition of Noise is Off while adding it’s own spin it was fantastic. The cast was a well oiled machine that moved flawlessly amidst the choreographed chaos. I HIGHLY recommend that everyone see this show if they love to laugh.

Surprisingly perfect for a play where nothing goes right

by Jonathan on 3/28/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I'm in awe of the seemingly flawless choreography of making a terrible play. The cast was incredible, their timing was impeccable, and I haven't laughed that hard in years. Bravo!

    When wrong turns silly

by Pierre on 3/27/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The play tried hard to be comedic and as a result it felt forced and cartoonish. There were funny moments, but in general they were very few and far apart. The plot did not matter and felt irrelevant. I understand that they were trying to make fun of things going wrong, but was there a need to serve paint thinner instead of whisky that many times? Or for the two actresses to punch each other endlessly? At some point, the comedy needed to evolve and connect with the murder of Mr. Haversham, but when the resolution came it was too late to make any sense of what had happened. In the case of this play, less would have been better.

    Great show!

by Bones on 3/26/22Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I thought that all of the good parts were shown on TV but I was wrong! The play activities started in the audience before the play started and continued until the final scene. Lots of gags and scene disruptions. The cast was very good at avoiding the stuff going on around them. When the piller of the second floor was removed , the cast members that were supposed to use that part of the scene worked with the angle that was now their floor. It was funny! The only problem we had at the play was the seat that my wife had. It had a spring that poked into her bottom. The play was wonderful and I was glad I went to see it.
