Plan your escape to the new musical about the choices we make—and the people we become—once we’ve had a change in latitude.
ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE is the musical comedy getaway featuring both original songs and your most-loved JIMMY BUFFETT classics, including “Come Monday,” “Volcano,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” and many more. With a book by Emmy® Award winner GREG GARCIA (“My Name is Earl,” “Raising Hope”) and Emmy® Award nominee MIKE O’MALLEY (“Survivor’s Remorse,” “Shameless”), this rousing and refreshing new production is choreographed by Tony Award® nominee KELLY DEVINE (Come From Away, Rock of Ages) and directed by the Tony Award® winner CHRISTOPHER ASHLEY (Come From Away, Memphis).
Imagine a place where the sun is hot, the water’s warm, and the drinks are as cold as they are plentiful. Welcome to Margaritaville, the island paradise where city folk get away from it all, and the locals get into the kind of trouble you can almost always sweet talk your way out of. Take a break from your troubles, make some new friends at the bar, and kick back to the soothing sounds of the steel drum. It doesn’t get much better than this. All you need now is a ticket.
ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE
More than a musical. It’s a way of life.

Great weaving of Buffet songs into a reasonable plot. An enjoyable day at the theatre.
Escape to Margaritaville was a great play. It was very entertaining and cleverly done! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much during a play. Lighthearted and just plain fun!
Escape To Margaretville (Chicago) was a must see if you are a lover of Jimmy Buffett's music.
This show was amazing! One of the best shows I have ever seen. My wife and I went to it with friends of ours and they enjoyed it too. The venue is a beautiful old building refurbished. We didn't know exactly what to expect, if it was a concert or a play. Turns out it is both, They incorporated Jimmy Buffet music into a play. Wonderful set, songs and acting. I HIGHLY recommend this show to everyone.
Ok, ok, this is the only musical I've ever seen in Chicago, but whatever. It's JIMMY BUFFETT's music! It's a tropical setting! It's full of zombies! (Wait--what?!) Ok, so the zombies were really random to me until my husband explained that when people used a certain drug in the 1970's (PCP) they would experience random hallucinations even years later when they weren't on the drug. I didn't know about that. Nobody ever taught me that in school. So apparently the zombies were a hallucination of one of the characters caused by his acid use in High School. This is a fun, funny, deliciously thirst-quenching gulp of island life. In my opinion, it's a must-see for every Parrothead. Fins Up!
The music was great, the acting was good, the script was fairly weak. The flying sequences were superfluous. It needs to make some up grades before it hits Broadway .
Loved the musical...still have all the songs playing in my head!
Never thought I would find a show that was so much fun! Absolutely my new favorite show! I sang along the entire time! Can’t wait to see it again!!!!
What a fun show. You just can’t atop smiling. Great laughs and many songs you already know. Very creative. I wish the crew continued success!
