Was a great experience, enjoyed being able to try so many new beers.
I have these types of events in the past. This was reasonably organised the venders seemd to have plenty of product. I will say that the events like this I have done in the past were in Colorado. The beer served in Maine was reasonably good. It seems like the craft brewers are still developing their recipies. Hands down the craft brewers Colorado stack up better against the Maine craft brewers anyday. Overall it was a nice event.
I bought two tickets for my husband's birthday. We were really excited to try some new beers. Besides the fact there were VERY FEW beer vendors, some of the vendors didn't even have their employees working so you could not get any details if you happen to have questions! We were in and out in 30m!
We have not missed a year, even went the Portland one. However Bangor has always been best. I’m not a smoker, but my husband is, and he was really annoyed when he found out that they no longer allow smokers to go outside and come back in. I don’t know how it affected others at this event, but it certainly ruined the night for him.
The good, the beer. Found several new beers that I enjoyed. The bad, food concessions, the entrance was too far from the event. Come on now use the lower entrance when the event is on the floor.
Had a great time last year on the grass @ the waterfront - but the Cross Center does it better. Parking a plenty, short wait time checking in, great staff. Bangor On Tap is slowly building a brand - more vendors over last year, but many vendors sent only a fraction of the product, several places sold out and closed up shop 1/2 way thorough session 1 - hopefully they came back with reserves during Session 2. Fewer "spit" buckets than years past and rinse coolers weren't refilled in a timely fashion. A couple of vendors didnt have any details on what they had on offer - and the volunteers didn't know much either - except the name. 4 stars out of 5.
The fest was great and had plenty of vendors, but being stuck inside in a fairly crowded space without the option to go outside for fresh air is absolutely ridiculous. A simple stamp or wristband for re-entry would have made a world of difference. My advice, go to the outdoor venues instead.
The place is little, but had a lot of beers to try and plenty of room to accommodate. The food was well priced for a function like this and the bands were great!! I will definitely be going back!!!
Very well run. I really like the police present. I wish more local breweries were there.
Would definitely do this again. A good way to find out about some new brews and try them out.
The beers were great, I had a lot of fun walking around and drinking them all. The band was good. I would go again.
Breweries didn't have good representation. People at booths needs to be people that brew the beer or know the brewery very well. Most people at booths didn't have any idea about the beer they were offering. The ones that did were far more busy and popular. Some of the breweries had very limited selection and honestly didn't bring their best and unique beers to try. People want to try something different or the more popular beers they offer, not just the ales an lagers. Fogtown brewery was prime example. Offered two beers, neither of which are there better more unique beers. Three hours is plenty of time to sample beer, but some brewers didn't put the efforts in that they should have. The ones that did really changed my thoughts on beer and who to go to.
