The announcer spoke leisurely for at least 15 minutes about people, sponsors etc . I felt this was an imposition on the audience who were there to see a ballet . That information could have been communicated in the Playbill or a screen prior to the performance . I found this highly objectionable .
The dance was beautiful. However, it felt like a high school production. A woman comes out to speak for 20 minutes prior to the ballet starting, doesn’t look professional and rattled on. There was no stage to speak of as far as set design or prettiness…it was ballet dancers dancing in front of a black curtain the whole time I feel if you can’t put a show on properly then you shouldn’t put it on…we’re paying money to see the dance and the costumes and the stage set. The costumes weren’t impressive either. BUT the dancers were exquisite! it has nothing to do with the dancers…but the production was terribly elementary.
A joyous intimate performance by this small, but excellent company. Tarde en La Siesta was by far the the best piece. The depth and maturity of emotion portrayed by the sisters was enchanting. It was pleasing to see new choreography being supported. Arapo was a fresh and uplifting piece which made me immediately want to book a trip to visit the Venezuelan island which was the inspiration for this work. Unbroken showcased the technical ability and talents within the company with some particularly good petit allegro from the men and fluent well connected pas de deux performances.
An enchanting and witty performance of this lighthearted ballet classic. There was a great ambiance from a well filled theatre. Parking was straightforward in the Arts and Science District multi-storey car park across the road. Face masks were encouraged and the ushers helpful. Swanilda and Frantz were a great match and danced exquisitely. There was some expressive and entertaining acting particularly from Swanilda’s friends with strong classical ballet technique. The supporting children were enthusiastic and showed a great joy of dance. A thoroughly entertaining evening.
Thought it was an excellent production. The performances were spirited and the cast was talented, including the many little ones that got to participate in the show; it was very endearing.
What a really fun show. 5 Stars. Very professional.
Loved everything about it. Scenery, music, choreography, and of course the dancers.
Very organized, beautiful ballet performance, I enjoyed very much....I recommend it to everyone......is a must
Amazing venue and perfect early Christmas gift for my spouse !
If you’re going to the theater (as I was) because you’re longing to see the historic decor and originality of a by gone era, most of that was eliminated with the remodel. The Nutcracker ballet, however did not disappoint.
Vladimir Issaev’s The Nutcracker ticked all the boxes for the traditional holiday ballet. The children in the cast were delightful, cute, entertaining and well schooled. The professional dancers displayed artistry and inspiration worthy of the cheers from an appreciative audience. The newly refurbished The Parker was an outstanding and beautiful venue honouring it’s history with posters and images of past famous performers alongside its attractive chandeliers . The lighting and sound quality within the auditorium was excellent. There was straightforward access off US1 and complimentary parking. Covid guidelines and health screening were adhered to but not intrusive.
Great talent and hard work in practice sessions that resulted in an outstanding performance.
The Nutcracker ballet was great, we had a wonderful time
It was a beautiful show, both kids and company members were great!
I come as a former parent and participant dancer (Guests) to witness a performance that is still strong and rich in tradition and family. After a decade since my daughter's participation, I find Vladimir and Ruby still at the helm along with an amazing company of dancers full of talent and skill. I thank you all for bringing this art to our community and for enriching our lives year after year. To many years more of success and love of the arts. Thank you for bringing George Balanchine and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky back to life.
Beautiful mise en scene of a holiday classic: The Nutcracker Wonderful professional dancers, talented apprentices and cute young kids participate in a magnificently choreographed production. Bright and colorful costumes and scenery are a plus. AACC is a comfortable theater (easy self-parking and valet parking available) COVID measures in place.
The costumes were beautiful. It started slow, with not a lot of ballet but many cute moments with the children. And then it blossomed into something amazing. To have so many gifted dancers in one show was a wonderful surprise. Wow! What a special evening that we will always remember!
Loved it! Everything was impeccable! The best Nutcracker from Arts Ballet Theatre
Bring your kids to watch this beautiful show, it is a great way to introduce them to the ballet world!
