    Gala Showroom Great...April Wine forgettable

by DrSPF on 6/1/16Cactus Petes Resort Casino Gala Showroom - Jackpot

We've seen several groups at Cactus Pete's Gala Showroom. We finally found our favorite spot; upper rear booths facing the stage! We were hesitant to reserve a partial booth, fearing with whom we might sit. We've yet to sit with anyone but fellow music fans! April Wine was somewhat of a disappointment. Right off the get go, they complained about their schedule and having to play two nights in Jackpot and then the very next night elsewhere. The guitar players kept heading off the stage, leaving the drummer to have a long solo, as well as the bass player playing another long solo. There was too much talking and not enough music playing.

    I like to Rock

by MC65 on 5/30/16Cactus Petes Resort Casino Gala Showroom - Jackpot

The group sounded great. The venue was small so the concert had a very intimate feeling. Myles interacted with the crowd quite a bit. We were right up against the stage and could've got great photos but the band told everyone to put their phones and cameras down and enjoy the show. So out of respect I did what they asked and ended up having a great time. It was mixed great for the small venue and sounded amazing. I was taken back in time. I almost forgot how good they are live. Unforgettable night !!!

April Wine was off and Trooper were on!

by denn123 on 8/19/13SERVUS PLACE - St Albert

I am not sure if there were issues with the equipment however April Wine sounded really bad and the vocals were a struggle whereas Trooper sounded great and the acoustics were fine, i think April Wine may have been playing with unfamiliar equipment or something, i was disappointed.

    April Wine still rocking

by buster013 on 11/7/11Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

I hadn't seen the band since the late 70's at the Forum in Montreal. Myles voice didn't quite sound the same in the first song but it was vintage Myles after that. Having Dave Henman play with the band was a real treat. Brian seems to have lost his umph when singing but his guitar playing was excellent.

    April Wine was great!

by ThornhillDave on 10/4/10Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre was a great location and very intimate. The song set was great and took me back to my teenage years. We had a couple with us who couldn't place (and thought they'd they'd never heard) an AW tune and they smiled as hit after hit was played. 40 years after the hits started, Myles still does it well.

by hallapal on 6/28/10Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

not sure why Winger was the headliner I should have stayed to see. But April Wine put on their usual outstanding performance. Had the crowd up and into it!

    April Wine Rocks

by MarkT7986 on 6/21/10Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

We saw April Wine on 6/18, at Penns Peak in Jim Thorpe Pa. The guys in the band are older of course but they still rock. We had a great time. If you can remember and appreciate the 80's and the hair you would enjoy this event.

by edfrombaltimore on 6/19/10Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

April Wine rarely comes to the US and this is the 1st time I've seen them since their hayday!! I drove 180 miles from Baltimore to see them, and they did not disappoint. Goodwyn and Greenway were on top of their game!!!

The time has come to retire

by Fasttrain on 12/12/09Deerfoot Inn - Calgary

After singing the same songs for so many years. I think it's time for them to retire. I was so disappointed with the last two shows I saw at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Sorry guys I love your music it was a great run. I still listen to the albums lot's. However, seeing you live has lost it's appeal.

    April Wine Rocks!!!!

by sherrielizzielu on 10/6/09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

April Wine is the best rock group ever! They totally rocked the house!!!. Great sound quality and lighting at the QE theatre. The band was in perfect form, they are only getting better over time. If people knew what they were missing by not going to see them, they would be having sold out Arenas and Stadiums again. April Wine hasn't lost anything over the years, they are better than ever. Myles Goodwyn's voice is as amazing as ever! I love April Wine

Great Show. Definitly seeing them again

by daniman on 10/4/09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

This was the first time that I have seen April Wine live and they were great. The gates opened up early, which wasn't bad, got my t-shirt (for a good price), had a couple of beers and waited for the show to start. Now, I'm not a hard core fan of AW, that being said I thought they were great, I knew most of the songs they played and a couple I did not. The only thing that I can complain about the show was that it was to loud, I wanted to hear the singing and the harmonies come through with the music as well. Overall a great show, great head banging, and a very tight act.

April Wine still not the pro's they should be

by lu22 on 10/4/09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Performance was good, Miles Goodwin and Bryan Greenway voices still in good shape, but sound and acoustics not good. Not sure if it was the theatre itself or equipment, but sound often muffled and distorted, not crisp as it should have been almost as if they were still in their amature stage when they were playing high schools back in the early 70's.

    April Whine

by RuffCo on 10/4/09Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

What the band played was OK, what they didn't play was my problem. I'm guessing they're catering to their fan base now, the under 20's rock and roll crowd, but they are not going to win back fans they had in the 70's and 80's by excluding their popular hits like "Bad Side of the Moon" and "I'm on Fire for you Baby" or "Fast Train" or "Rock n Roll is a Vicious Game" or "Coming Right Down on Top of Me" . They didn't play "Doing it Right" or "I'm Alive" or even "You Won't Dance with Me". Their ballads didn't seem to pass the criteria for today's concertgoers. I'm thinking it could simply be because some of those songs included keyboards or a third guitar, but that doesn't really cut it. What they did play was good in a venue that supplied less than ideal acoustics (the Music Hall would have been better), but it could be so much more.

April Wine still has what it takes!

by Arkvision on 7/13/09Century Casino - Edmonton

Was doubting the show at first with the warm up band, but when April Wine came out, you could of put an old vinyl on the record player and you wouldn't know that anyone had aged, it brought back yesterday 30 years ago, sounded Great!!!!
