First time at the Apollo and we had a great time!! Charenee's voice is so smooth and she is such a talent!! We would recommend this venue and we have been listening to her CD at work.
Charenee is, I believe, still an up-and-coming artist even though she has been in the public eye for quite some time. She has presence and charisma and most often has talented young musicians on stage with her. This was an Ella tribute and yes, she did her best to step up to the plate. Having seen her doing more of what i would call her own material (inspired by Gil Scott Heron) I was a bit underwhelmed. But I love her anyway! As for the venue....we got there well in advance of showtime. Sparring us on was a DJ who would have been more suited to a high school pep rally or a College sports bar with guys doing shots. His attitude was brusque ("GET YOURSELVES A COCKTAIL!!!) and his music was too loud - - stylistically not a good fit for folks on board to see and hear Charenee. I think the $ minimum was reasonable and the waitstaff was Ok.
What an amazing group! I cannot wait to see what this group does next time!
Dawn Tallman is an amazing performer and artist! To see her in the context of this medium was amazing! Her choice of songs and the journey she weaved with her music, the vibe in the room, the party atmosphere ... All came together and created a magical evening one that I won't soon forget!
JC Brooks is one entertaining DUDE! So fun to watch; great stage presence; great talent. The band was tight! Amazingly talented musicians! Music was Great! All (99%) original music. Really got the crowd up there dancing!
My man Kwame and the Shakedown absolutely killed it Saturday night!!
Great artist, great service, would definitely go see her show there again.
Calma Carmona is not only a latin beauty, but her uniqueness & sense of style brings a new flava to the world of music. She sings with passion, emotion, soul, & even has a playful/cute side to her performance. The intimate setting gives you a good sense of who Calma is as a performer and you feel as is she is singing a song just for you. The realness of her lyrics speaks of real life issues such as love, happiness, heartache, & domestic abuse. She proves that you can be an Artist, be beautiful, be origional, & not give in to what society likes to view as sexy (ex: Half naked performers showing off their goodies for plublicty). Calma is defnintely an artist to keep a good eye & ear out for.
Sophia urista is an unforgettable performer! She is a power house and knows how to carry the crowd!
Flew to New York just to attend this stellar performance. I am so glad I did. The energy was amazing, the muscianship of these young artists was fresh and impressing! I loved the location!
The Seshen was amazing!!! The show was phenomenal. Great energy, sound was so unique with so many musical influences and the vocals were on point.
What a wonderful show. Mykal took us to church in the best way. He has an openness and joy on stage that is contagious and a big voice.
One word: awesome. The singers, the band, and ge atmosphere was just awesome.
I highly recommend to everyone that if they have a chance to see Frenchie Davis sing live, that they do everything possible to make it happen
Frenchie Davis seemed to be in her element on Saturday at the Apollo Cafe. She engaged so comfortably with the audience and displayed her remarkable vocal range and voice quality. We enjoyed the band and the back up singers. The group of friends I was with thought the show was awesome!
Such a strong, powerful voice. The r&b world needs you now!!!
I had a wonderful time watching Black Alley at the Apollo... Christlyles Bacon was great. I m from DC so I see them from time to time. Loved it!
I had a good time at the music cafe. The setup is intimate which I loved. I also like that everyone was seated anf not left to stand for the entire show. Timothy Bloom is very talented and put on a good show. I will def come back.
I really enjoyed this performance and honestly had never seen a performance artist like this. He was very different and interesting in his style of performance. ELEW is extremely talented and I am so glad to have experienced his style.
