The show was exactly as expected. There was nothing specific that stood out. I wanted Cole Porter, and that's what I got. It is nice to see the revivals once in awhile though. The dancing is always enjoyable.

    Very good but not great

by Anonymous on 1/13/15Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

Our daughter performed in the high school version of "Anything Goes" so we were excited to see the professional version. It was very good although we were a little disappointed. For a professional group, some lines were clearly stumbled over and the enthusiasm just wasn't completely there. Very much enjoyed the tap dancing numbers but felt that many of the jokes were rushed and probably missed by most spectators. Didn't feel as lively as it should have been. Enjoyed the show but a bit lack luster.

    Disappointed.

by Juia on 1/12/15Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

Anything Goes has a very slow start. The only actor with any singing ability, was the "Miss Reno Sweeney", Emma Stratton. She has a gorgeous voice and completely carried the show. The dancing and singing scenes were amazing! But there were not many of them (only the last scene in the 1st Act) and a couple in the 2nd Act. For the price of the tickets, it was quite disappointing. If you are going to a show, I suggest you spend the money seeing some other show.

    Okay

by Showgoer44 on 1/11/15Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

I thought it was hard to hear much of what was being said both because of volume and also because of enunciation. I think the over all volume was to blame mostly and we had pretty good seats in row U. There was some good tap dancing but not as much as I would have liked. I did not find the story line all that interesting in my opinion. I was not totally disappointed but a little disappointed.

    Anything Goes to the Dogs!

by Actung on 10/26/14Hobby Center - Houston

I was really looking forward to seeing this musical again after waiting almost 20 years (I first saw it in high school). Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. Although, the singing and dancing were far superior to a high school production, I was often offended by the lack of respect the writers showed for people of faith. Several "Christian" characters are highlighted for their hypocrisy during the musical over and over again and the only truly faithful follower (the missionary) is accidentally arrested and hauled off to prison early in the play. I also didn't realize how racy the production would be. I probably would have to pass on this one the next time I was invited. Oh well, there's always the much more family friendly high school shows.

    Anything Goes cruises to success.

by FrJim on 10/23/14Hobby Center - Houston

Attended the touring company performance of Anything Goes at Houston's Hobby Center and it did not disappoint. Sometimes classic musicals do not "age well" but this edition of the 2011 revival fully met expectations. The timeless Cole Porter score was presented with freshness that was matched by the fast paced new libretto that did not allow for a moment of wasted time. Vocals, choreography, costumes, acting and production values were above average for this type of touring company. The two best numbers were the extended "You're the Top" which was exceptionally well staged and the fabulous title song with a large scale tap dancing extravaganza worthy of Busby Berkeley. This is a two thumbs up performance.of a timeless classic.

    So good we went twice!

by facsgirl on 10/22/14Hobby Center - Houston

Delightful pops in my mind! Amazing cast! Can't believe the lead role is played by a newcomer fresh out of college. Emma Stratton is someone to watch for in the future. Although we saw it twice in houston, we are thinking of catching it again in another city!

Very fun and entertaining show! The voices and talents of the actors were very good. Dance numbers, sets and scenery were also great. Light story, lots of humor, memorable songs...I do recommend this!

    De-lovely!

    by momof5yroldfan on 10/22/14Hobby Center - Houston

My 10 year old really enjoyed it. I wish I would have told her a little more about the plot beforehand because I had to do a lot of explaining at intermission. Nothing inappropriate, though. It's one of those musicals that you just have to see. It's a classic! And the music is awesome!

    Anything Goes was wonderful!

by Wallybanger on 10/21/14Hobby Center - Houston

This was a nostalgic trip back in time for me. I was born and 1931 so I really remember all of the Cole Porter hits from the 30s. I recommend it to someone of any age even if they do not have the memories I had.

    Exceeded Our Expectations!!

by HoustonRev on 10/21/14Hobby Center - Houston

Probably one of the best musical productions we have seen in a long, long time!! Singers and dancers were all very professional. Usually on a show like this you have one or two outstanding performers with the rest B level but not this one. Every single person on the stage was outstanding! It is hard to find performers who can sing, dance and act – usually one of these has to give, but not in this performance. Everyone who comes on stage can carry their part and add to an outstanding evening of entertainment.

    Anything Goes

by Stuve on 5/21/13DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Everything was top notch. From the lead actors and actresses, to the ensemble cast it was easy to see why this show has endured. The plot was silly and fun and there were enough happy endings all around. We left the theater singing and feeling good. It's not often that happens these days.

    Anything Goes Fabulous

by Showfollower on 5/20/13DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

What a professional show! I thought I was seeing it on Broadway or in Toronto on a first run. The leads were great as were the other company members. Rachel York was electric and was well matched by Josh Franklin. And who can even come close to Fred Applegate's rendition of "Be Like the Blue Bird"? The comedic talent of Edward Staudenmayer is unsurpassed, and his performance of "The Gypsy in Me" was a masterpiece of subtlety as he spoofed the Latin lovers of the the 1920's on the stage and screen. All of the other lead actors, except perhaps Alex Fink, brought a special star quality to their performances.

Anything Goes - You Are The Top!!

by Musical47 on 5/20/13DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

What a marvelous production of a 1930's musical with an exceptionally strong cast. The singing was great and the dancing was as good as any Broadway show that I have ever seen. Even though it was a very small audience for an afternoon show they were very appreciative of a wonderful performance. The cast and crew of "Anything Goes" should be very proud of a job well done. I also want to compliment Grand Rapids for not only having a beautiful theater, but a staff that was very courteous and friendly. This is definitely one of the very best musicals that my wife and I have ever had the pleasure of attending. "Anything Goes" - You Are The Top!!
