About

Anjelah Johnson-Reyes was born and raised in San Jose, California where she grew up with four siblings in a large extended family to which she remains close. She embarked upon her career as a professional cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders at the age of 20 and performed at Super Bowl XXXVII where she was named the "Rookie of the Year." After one year with the team, she decided to move to Hollywood to pursue acting. She began her stand-up career after taking a class on a whim at a local church and realized that she loved it. Just a few months later, Anjelah found herself an internet sensation and pioneer in viral YouTube videos when her notorious "Nail Salon" bit from a local comedy show was posted and received over 100 million views! Shortly thereafter she was added to the cast on the original MADtv where she trademarked her legendary character, Bon Qui Qui. Similar to the nail salon video, the Bon Qui Qui sketch caught on and have been viewed by over 75 million people.

The multi-hyphenates' popularity has translated into six successful comedy specials: "That's How We Do It", "The Homecoming Show", "Not Fancy" and "Mahalo & Good Night", "Technically Not Stalking", and "Say I Won't."  She has displayed her acting prowess both on TV and film. Some of her credits include: "Life & Beth", "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Superstore," "Moms' Night Out," and "Alvin & the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel."

The past 18 months have been busy for Anjelah.  She published her first book, "Who Do I Think I Am: Stories of Chola Wishes and Caviar Dreams" (Worthy Books), a hilarious and touching memoir full of memorable anecdotes on how a Latina dynamo was able to forge ahead and become successful.  She also was front and center competing on Fox's dance competition show "The Real Dirty Dancing" and performed at the "Netflix is a Joke - Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin: Live Gala" which is currently streaming on Netflix.  In addition, Anjelah launched her wildly successful and sold out "Who Do I Think I Am?" standup comedy tour across the U.S. encompassed over 75+ cities across North America.

Over the coming year, Anjelah's book "Who Do I Think I Am: Stories of Chola Wishes and Caviar Dreams" will be published in paperback and she is releasing her 6th comedy special, "Anjelah Johnson-Reyes: Say I Won't" on Sunday, May 14th. She also will be starring Amazon Prime Video's holiday comedy Candy Cane Lane alongside Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Genneya Walton, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, and Danielle Pinnock.

Anjelah and her husband are expecting their first child summer of 2023 and when not on the road, split their time between Los Angeles and Nashville with their dog, Banzo.

    Great show full of laughs!

by Media Tech Shop on 12/5/23The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

Show opened with Mal Hall who may be a new comedian to us but has a very promising career. His comedy on parenting was realistic and very funny. Makes us all remember our parents and check our own parenting with smile. Anjelah definitely did not disappoint. Her material was very funny and gave us some insight on her new motherhood and experiences in the south. Announcement of her YouTube special and closing with her skit that made her famous to a lot of her fans was an amazing finale.

    Super!

by DM on 12/5/23The Theater at MGM National Harbor - National Harbor

Sometimes, you can judge a comedy show by the warm-up acts. This was a great experience. The warm-up act was funny and relatable, same thing I say about the headliner. Anjelah is really funny and does not have to try to be, she makes you feel at home.

The venue was perfect, there was space but I felt we were close enough to see her. The screens were great. She never disappoints, I love the real-life experiences that we can all relate to and laugh at.

    Mama Anjelah is the BEST

by Michelle on 11/21/23Silver Legacy Casino Reno - Reno

Now that she is a mama, her routine ventures out into the world of new mommyhood. She is so funny with the same energy as always. Super quick wit, kicking Jimmy with an E out in a hot second. Great show as always. So glad that she's back out and touring. Nothing beats a great night of comedy and Anjelah brings it!

    Traditional

by Raddad on 11/21/23Silver Legacy Casino Reno - Reno

Loved the show. One of the best respectful comedians. The location was poor as the Silver legacy casino is just old and nasty.

    Good - but Short

by KaviMama on 10/2/23The Avalon Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

The headline presentation was under 1 hour and after paying (over $150) the price of admission and parking, I felt let down. The presentation was good, but in my opinion too short for what you paid for. I am pretty sure when we say her in the US, the actual length was 90 mins.
