About

Angels & Airwaves on Tour

Although blink-182 guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge is also the creative engine behind Angels & Airwaves, his two bands couldn't be more different. That's especially evident live: Although both groups offer up energetic sets, the Angels & Airwaves experience hews toward epic, heart-racing rock ‘n' roll. DeLonge is a soulful, passionate frontman who takes vocal and physical cues from charismatic superstar frontmen — think U2's Bono and Coldplay's Chris Martin — while his bandmates bash out soundscapes around him.

Over the years, Angels & Airwaves have toured with Weezer, appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, and landed spots at the Reading & Leeds Festivals. In 2019, the band embarked on their first tour in seven years and celebrated the occasion by releasing a keyboard-heavy, 1980s throwback single, "Rebel Girl."

Angels & Airwaves Background

When blink-182 went on hiatus in early 2005, DeLonge didn't miss a beat: He hunkered down in a home studio and crafted music for a new project that he dubbed Angels & Airwaves (sometimes abbreviated as AVA, in no small part because it's also the name of DeLonge's daughter). Although blink-182 favored brisk pop-punk, DeLonge's new tunes were cinematic rock indebted to U2 and '80s synth-pop, and buoyed by chiming synths and guitars.

Despite the different sound, Angels & Airwaves immediately connected with fans. The band's first two albums, 2006's gold-certified We Don't Need to Whisper and 2007's I-Empire, spawned five songs that made the Top 40 of Billboard's alternative songs chart — highlighted by 2006's "The Adventure," which peaked at No. 5. DeLonge's confidence grew with this success. Subsequent albums (including 2010's Love and 2011's Love: Pt. 2) boasted epic thematic concepts that explored philosophical and existential topics, as well as expansive sonic palettes with heavier guitars, prog flourishes and more experimental keyboards.

Ever ambitious, Angels & Airwaves also started dabbling in film projects. In 2008, they released the band origin documentary Start the Machine, while 2011 saw the release of the sci-fi-tinged Love. To go along with 2014's The Dream Walker, they even released an animated short called Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker.

Bad Suns -Great band - Terrible sound quality

by Moss on 11/4/21House of Blues Houston - Houston

I wanted to see Bad Suns and was a little disappointed in the sound quality. The lead mic was not hot enough. The band performed great but the sound was just not there. I will also not be coming back to this venue until the COVID testing mandate is lifted.

    Rock On, Y’all!

by Aves on 11/3/21Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Absolutely loved every aspect of this show! First, hats off to the performers, they killed it! Especially my Bad Suns babies, I love yall. Second, everything from security to merch stand to the bar was so wonderful. Prices were good, bartenders were great, we had such a fun time with the photo booth, and the bathrooms were so clean! 10/10 show, definitely going to come to more shows here at 310 Willie Nelson Blvd!!!

This concert was perfect from the beginning.. I bought the VIP package so I got to go in a different door & didn’t have to wait as long & a special VIP room upstairs! The venue was beautiful & spacious! Everyone that worked there was nice. The concert itself was amazing, AVA puts on the best show!!! I had awesome seats. Amazing

by Mason on 10/31/21Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

This was an opportunity that I could check off my bucket list, I’ve loved Angels and Airwaves since the start. This show was without a doubt amazing. I’ve always been told that AVA never disappoints. If you ever have the chance to see them, do it. The venue was nice as well. I’ve been to the Hard Rock Live several times to see well-known groups.

    Life-altering.

by Jb on 10/31/21Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

Tom Delonge was absolutely incredible. His voice hasn’t sounded this good live since the late 90s. Overall acoustics were spot on. Venue design allowed for countless views of the stage. Best show of my entire life.

Blessed be our Lord and Savior Tom

by TrainableGirl on 10/30/21Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

AVA concerts are always a spiritual homecoming. Whether you’re a passing fan or a self proclaimed Tombot (hi!) you will enjoy this concert experience beyond measure. Tom is selective in which songs he performs to ensure he can give his all, and always stops periodically for quality banter.

Angels & Airways with opening act Bad Suns was one of the best shows I have seen at Janus Live in a while. Both bands were on top of their games and of course their is no better place to see a show then Janus on a beautiful evening in late October.

Florida does not deserve Tom Delonge

by AVA4LYF on 10/29/21Jannus Live - St Petersburg

Thomas and his band gave St Petersburg Florida one of his finest performances in his career and the audience couldn't be bothered to recognize it. There were maybe 100 actual fans in the crowd. The rest of the crowd seemed like they stumbled upon some random show in this courtyard-like venue and proceeded to be disappointed and uninterested in the spectacle taking place before them. Shame on all of you
