ANGEL OLSEN IN CONCERT:
Alternative folk singer-songwriter Angel Olsen's voice is the kind that can stop you dead in your tracks. It's hauntingly beautiful and charged with passion, and ticket buyers just can't get enough of it at her unmissable live shows. From the rockabilly "Hi-Five" and the sprawling "High & Wild" to the electric, distorted "Forgiven/Forgotten", her songs have an emotional pull that's even more entrancing in person. Olsen alternates between performing solo with an electric guitar and playing with the rest of her band, comprised of a guitarist, bassist, and drummer. Regardless of who's on stage with her, Olsen's stellar performances are always steered by her poignant voice, rich lyricism, and commanding stage presence.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Angel Olsen grew up in St. Louis immersed in her parents' favorite music -- from the Everly Brothers' beautiful harmonies to Skeeter Davis' country-pop prowess. As a teenager she performed in coffee shops around St. Louis and Chicago and was eventually discovered by Cairo Gang leader Emmet Kelly. Kelly passed her music on to esteemed folk artist Will Oldham, who invited Olsen on tour with him. She spent the next couple years as Oldham's backing vocalist, touring all over the world and appearing on two of his studio albums. In 2012 she kicked off her solo career by releasing the understated yet passionate EP Strange Cacti and touring alongside Kurt Vile and Neko Case. Since then she has released two studio albums, 2012's Half Way Home and 2014's Burn Your Fire For No Witness, earning critical praise and headlining shows across the country. A rare talent with a world-class voice, Olsen continues to thrill concert goers with spellbinding live shows.

It was unbearable. The bass (?) just wiped everything else out. Very disappointing. No attention to levels. Her two big new hits at the top were completely ruined by this. The sharpness of the strings just was completely lost. When it was just Angel and a guitar, it was good, but I really wish I could have enjoyed the rest of the show.
There was a women being very loud and obnoxious, Seated a few seats away. She kept yelling and screaming and even spilled her drink on another person.
Angel Olsen is lit! She knows how to fill a room with her presence and voice!
Angel Olsen is one of those rare talents that must be seen to be believed. Her voice is already ‘angelic’ on studio recordings of her music, but it soars to new heights during the All Mirrors tour. The set Angel played was almost the entire new album, along with a couple of deep cuts and a fan favorite or two. The crowd was mostly hypnotized and reflective during the almost 2 hour set. Two young women next to me spent most of the concert swooning with every note Angel hit. The witty banter and teasing of covers between songs left most in the crowd yearning for more. By the time Angel sat down at the piano to play some solo tunes 90 minutes has passed and I felt like she had just came on. She saved her best for last, playing two crowd favorites for an encore. 10/10 would go see Angel again.
Fantastic concert , she put on a hell of a show . Sound quality was excellent!
My friends and I had the chance to see Angel Olsen (and Vagabon) perform at the Palace Theater in DTLA. The Palace is vey unassuming on the outside, but inside it is amazing with beautiful murals and nicely preserved from its original design. The Palace is fairly intimate which was wonderful. We sat in row P of the Orchestra section and the seats were great along with feeling pretty close up. The sound quality was also pretty good. The opening act, Vagabon, was just ok, but Angel Olsen really rocked the house. Her music is amazing and she was so confident and self assured on stage. The other surprising part was how entertaining and funny she was in chatting with the audience between songs. It just made the evening that much better. Angel was on stage for a long time (awesome) and it was a really fun evening. Would definitely see Angel Olsen again and go to the Palace!
Angel is my absolute favorite artist and her show was just... powerful and honest and beautiful. I would go to her concert a thousand times.
another great show at the Sylvee. this time with Angel Olsen & here incredible band. the seats & venue were both wonderful. the performance by Angel was amazing, perfect sound & vision that night:)))
Great voice but her songs never get off the ground. Didn’t realize it was a solo act so her songs were limited and popular songs were left out. I wish she would have had her band with her. I know I would have enjoyed it more.
This was the first time seeing Angle Olsen, but it was well worth it. The intimate setting--Olsen and her guitar on a darkened stage--created a warm environment and her banter was hilarious and inciteful. She sounded amazing and played a solid mix of songs from each of her albums.
angel's voice and personality are so lovely i'm grateful to have share some space with her!
We went specifically to see Heron Oblivion the opening act. They are so unique and great. Their set was too short but very enjoyable.
I feel sorry for her. She didn't deserve that audience. I guess they didn't have the muscle tone or strength of will to stand.
Angel and her band are amazing. Great chemistry! Angel and Heather’s voices totally work together and the result is beautiful. Heather’s band Mount Moriah, opens and they are really good!
Angel Olsen is a must see! Her voice is angelic and her personality onstage was unforgettable (:
Truly swept up by her performance. Absolutely hooked after seeing this show and now can't seem to get enough. Great band with her and choice of opening act too. I'll definitely make sure I go next time she is in town.
The band is tight, Angel has loosened up and is clearly taking command of the stage. Even reflecting to performances over the past few years, she has really found a sweet spot highlighting her talents, personality, charm, and passion. And she looks like shes having a blast. I'd go see her again in heartbeat.
Angel Olsen's voice is like none other. For that alone, it's worth seeing live, but the fact is, she is immensely talented, and her live shows offer an ethereal experience. Her shows are intense, emotionally, and the audiences are dead silent, captivated by Olsen. It's quite incredible.
Angel Olsen was great! Definitely would see her again
