André Rieu on Tour
André Rieu is nothing short of a cosmopolitan treasure. The Dutch violinist has dedicated his life to spreading the joy of the waltz to fans across the world. Since starting the Johann Strauss Orchestra in the late ‘80s, he's taken his dynamic ensemble — which numbers around 60 — everywhere from Europe and Asia to the Americas and Australia. Almost every year, the orchestra lands on Billboard's list of Top 25 tours, with Rieu recognized by the publication in 2009 as the most successful male touring artist in the world. Yearly, his group performs between 70 and 100 shows worldwide. Rieu has become famous for his energetic stage presence and thrilling repertoire. Often playing on the violin from the conductor's podium and leading his orchestra at the same time, engaging the audience in his dramatic and buoyant readings of well-known tunes, Rieu is as close to a rock star as one can get in the classical world.
André Rieu in Concert
Rieu was born in Maastricht, Netherlands, in 1949 to a father who was the conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. So a life in music came naturally. He began studying the violin at age 5, eventually training at conservatories in Liège, Maastricht and Brussels. During his studies, he became obsessed with the waltz as he recognized how thoroughly the Viennese form gripped audiences when played from a stage. After a number of performance posts, including with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Rieu created the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987. The group would be dedicated primarily to performing waltzes the world over. With his orchestra, Rieu has not only toured but released live DVDs and CDs, many of which have gone platinum, and he's responsible for the beloved annual New Year's concerts in Vienna, the birthplace of Strauss and the home of the waltz.

Incredible concert of musicians from 17 countries, of singers who touched the people souls with their amazing performances and all that directed by Andre Rieu.
The best entertainment ever at CTC. I would go to see Andre again and again.
I was very disappointed in the performance. Andre didn't play his violin in what I could see from the concert September 25th 2023. Andre only played 1 hour 45 minutes. I paid over $600 for my tickets last fall for my family. Andre in the past has played 3 to 4 hours in his performances. Sad that the Scotiabank Union has to dictate on how long Andre could play! Scotiabank is Not a Venue to see such a World performer play. I would host this somewhere else other than Scotiabank going forward. I will never go to any of the Scotiabank arenas to watch a venue of any kind.
I have been following Andre Rieu for almost 15 years now and have attended several of his events in Toronto and Montreal. I consider him the master in making classical music sound very pleasant and attractive, especially to younger audiences. However, when we (him and us) talk about beautiful music, his presentations should really display that, or at least the kind of music we were used to hear from him and his JS Orchestra since years ago. Of course, everybody has different taste and might consider “beautiful music” in a different way. Nowadays, some people consider rap or just the splutter and expression of vulgarities by “singers” during a musical piece, also “music” (never minding their way of dancing while grabbing their crotch). Gospel music, while I don’t totally disagree with it, just goes too far when the singers start screaming in extreme, and apparently the louder and with a higher pitch, the better. Screaming, shouting, yelling, as well as the use of the methods previously described by rappers, stops being “beautiful music” for me. In my personal opinion, Andre did include too much gospel in his last presentation in Toronto. Let’s be honest, not all kind of music can be considered “beautiful music.” Andre, please stick to your original goals; i.e., unless you are trying to attract now a different kind of audience.
Concert was awesome as expected, the only problem was a difficulty to find a decent coffee and a long unnecessary time to wait in front of the arena.
I am very happy that I could be part of that amazing event Up until the very end no one wanted to leave that place And that beautiful music was until the morning and until now bring smile and happiness to me I will recommend to every one who wants to open his heart ❤️ to receive that beautiful music
Great entertainment with lots of of different types of music
You definitely get your money's worth. Andre Rieu and his orchestra performed for over two hours, on stage. His company is predominately women in ball gowns. The orchestra is enhanced by the inclusion to the spiritual choir and of course the bagpipes. My issue is not with Andre Rieu, it is with Ticketmaster. I am not addicted to a cell phone and prefer a paper ticket, printing it myself is okay but I am not loading a ticket onto my phone and I should not have to. I paid for my tickets and the option should be mine as to how I want to receive it. Luckily at the arena I was able to work with the ticket office, once I provided sufficient proof that I was the purchaser and was provided a physical/paper ticket.
the show was amazing and the talent he brings did a great show for everyone. amazing crowd him too
the show was amazing. Andre rieu knows how to put on an amazing concert and bring great talent to his show. music he plays always bring back the memories of things
Wonderful world class talent but was surprised by the cartoon imaging and some content. Guess they were trying to add variety and modernization but it took away from the amazing class act they are
I ended up with tickets last minute to this concert. I seen some clips on YouTube, but that’s about it. I expected just classical music all night, but to my surprise he covered many genres of music with top notch singers and instrumentalists. I will be going next time Maestro Rieu is in town.
The show itself was great! Andre puts a great show. The problem was the organization. Not having a designated gate for entrance, caused a huge delay. We stood 45 mins in-line to enter the facility, missing 10 mins of the show.
Great seats (section 106), very attentive and polite Canadian Tire Centre staff. Andre Rieu is generous and very appealing on stage. We got our money's worth and it was an evening to remember. One minor disappoinment: his Platin Tenors did not sing Puccini's Nessun Dorma. THAT is one to die for and a MUST for all of his shows! Otherwise, thanks for the memories Mr. Rieu!
Start to end, it was excellent. Andre Rieu has always put on a show to remember. His banter with the audience was fun and charming and of course, the musicians and singers were outstanding. Highly recommended.
The show was awesome and entertaining but a bit disappointed as Andréi didn't play "Ave Maria", our favourite. We were early and had a floor seating but couldn't get in right away as there was a long line. We missed a couple of songs of the show. Security check was concentrated on one spot so you can imagine the long lines.
Andre Rieu was nothing short of amazing. having a party with 16,000 people. The music, artists and ambience brought happiness to us all! So blessed to have witnessed this event. Hope to do it again!!
Let me start by saying we were very excited and even counting down the days to this show. My wife has always wanted to see Andre Rieu. It has been one of the things she has talked about for forever. We originally even had tickets to go to Vancouver to see him until that show got cancelled. So Toronto he came. We bought tickets. She was so excited. The first half of the show was great. He was very interactive, funny we were loving it. Intermission happen. Then the show never got back there. Music pieces weren't good at all. Boring actually. Didn't play the favorites we were hoping for. Then he says goodbye. A lot of people left complaining that the show was too short. I have seen a lot of he videos and even got dragged to see he 75th birthday movie. This was definitely the worse that I ever have seen and wish I saved all the money that I spent for tickets, dinner, baby sitter, parking, drinks. I could of went on a week holidays for this price. Horrible.
Andre Rieu and his orchestra keep you entertained. They're talented, funny, and engaging. We hope to someday see them in Maastricht!
