Anaheim Ducks History

What began as a 1992 Disney movie turned into a professional hockey team as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim played their first official season in the NHL in 1993. With the emergence of Paul Kariya in late 1994, Anaheim had its first bona fide superstar.

In 1996, Teemu Selänne arrived via trade, and alongside Kariya helped lead the franchise to its first playoffs appearance in 1997. The Ducks reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. Forever etched in Mighty Ducks lore was the knock out delivered upon Kariya by the Devils' Scott Stevens in game six. Kariya would make a hero's return in that game, emerging from the locker room to score and lead the team to victory. Netminder Jean-Sébastien Giguère won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs, becoming the fifth player to win the trophy as a member of the losing team.

Disney sold the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, and the team dropped the "Mighty" from their moniker. With star players on the roster, including future Hall of Fame defensemen Chris Pronger and Scott Nidermayer, the Ducks finished the 2007 season as Stanley Cup Champions, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games. With Rob Niedermayer also on the roster, the Niedermayers became the first set of brothers to win the Stanley Cup together since the 1980s. The Ducks have been in the playoffs a total of 14 times in their 29 seasons.

    Bring money for food

by Pauly on 12/26/22Honda Center - Anaheim

Omg I bought a slice of pizza and a brisquit sandwich and it costs $27.50. Then the seats at the game where a little small and I had a chair kicker sitting behind me , very annoying . I sat in the upper deck and could see the game good.

    Fun, would be an understatement

by Marcia on 11/28/22Honda Center - Anaheim

Took my great grandson to his first Anaheim Duck game! I had never seen one either and we both had the best time! I loved the warm up and of course Honda Center made it more intriguing with all the music they were playing, When they got their first goal and the lights went Flashing and the horns went out we both started yelling and got so excited they presented it is so well and I think this should be on everyone's bucket list, a Hockey game! Honda Center was a very clean environment and the ushers and the security people were more than nice and helped in every little single way and this is what keeps people coming back!

    Terrible traffic systems/experience

by Bill Ryan on 11/26/22Honda Center - Anaheim

Traffic flow in and out are awful - and the venue was not even close to full. Need more exits/exit routes. Premier wine sonly available on 2nd level and if you pay for a higher-priced ticket downstairs, the security staff will not let you up to level 2. Nonsensical. We only go to one game a year to see our favorite team. Might go to more if you have your act together.

    Nice but expensive

by Marco on 11/18/22Honda Center - Anaheim

Good match, great arena ! Only exception the prices for food and drinks, so expensive (15$ for a beer, you can keep it).

    Ducks v Red Wings

by PatrickM on 11/18/22Honda Center - Anaheim

Honda Center is a great venue. Very family friendly. Employees gracious and helpful! Could do with less of the touch screen food ordering. You need a QR on your phone after giving up your cell number just to receive your order. Way too much work to buy a simple cup of coffee.

    Experience good, team was poor

by Matty on 11/15/22Honda Center - Anaheim

The overall experience is great, fun to be at the stadium and watch the Ducks play. But the performances from Ducks this seasons could lead you going home feeling sad. A win would be fine… for once this season at least, in regular time. Gets boring to spend so much money to see them lose all the time.

Game was great. A staff member not.

by Monica on 11/12/22Honda Center - Anaheim

Overall, game was great but a staff member from section 208 was rude. At first, she yelled at my friend and wouldn’t let her get to her seat. Then, when she finally let her go to her seat she told her “I hope the ticket is real.” Why wouldn’t it be? No longer going there. Sticking to staples.

by Bobby P on 11/3/22Honda Center - Anaheim

    Earned the win!

by Daisy on 11/2/22Honda Center - Anaheim

The game was on your seat exciting. The Leafs were good and the Ducks worked hard to make every point. Great win. The Center is clean and seats are nice. Hate the mobile ticket only option. My phone doesnt hold a charge if i use the phone for pictures. Didnt like the Centers small purse requirement either: glasses, phone, wallet, car keys- out of room.

    The Ducks are flying high

by Marc B on 11/2/22Honda Center - Anaheim

After a disappointing start to the season, the Ducks came back strong and beat Toronto in a very exciting game. Even after being denied a goal in the third period, the Ducks were triumphant in overtime. Fantastic game to see live!

    Fun First Game!

by Jordan V on 11/2/22Honda Center - Anaheim

First time watching a Hockey Game, I've always been interested in hockey, and as a kid I watched all the Mighty Duck Movies which made me a Ducks fan. Enjoyed the game, glad we won!

    Much friendlier than LA

by Florida Man on 10/29/22Honda Center - Anaheim

The home team lost but the fans and arena staff treated me with respect. The previous night in LA I felt it was a more aggressive atmosphere even though the home team won. I have only good things to say about the experience except that $18 for a beer is a little steep

    Nightmare

by Bobby on 10/17/22Honda Center - Anaheim

I bought tickets to the Anaheim Ducks vs Seattle Kraken. I get there and it turns out they double sold my tickets. They gave us new seats but we missed the whole 1st period. We had trouble getting in since the other buyer had already scanned the tickets.
