Anaheim Ducks History

What began as a 1992 Disney movie turned into a professional hockey team as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim played their first official season in the NHL in 1993. With the emergence of Paul Kariya in late 1994, Anaheim had its first bona fide superstar.

In 1996, Teemu Selänne arrived via trade, and alongside Kariya helped lead the franchise to its first playoffs appearance in 1997. The Ducks reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. Forever etched in Mighty Ducks lore was the knockout delivered upon Kariya by the Devils' Scott Stevens in game six. Kariya would make a hero's return in that game, emerging from the locker room to score and lead the team to victory. Netminder Jean-Sébastien Giguère won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs, becoming the fifth player to win the trophy as a member of the losing team.

Disney sold the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, and the team dropped the "Mighty" from their moniker. With star players on the roster, including future Hall of Fame defensemen Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer, the Ducks finished the 2007 season as Stanley Cup Champions, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games. With Rob Niedermayer also on the roster, the Niedermayers became the first set of brothers to win the Stanley Cup together since the 1980s.

  • Unenjoyable

by Kim on 2/22/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 1 out of 5

Parking was convenient. Will not be attending again due to cost. 80.00 per ticket. Outrageous cost of food and drink. Two beers and two bottles of water for 60.00. Made it the most unenjoyable evening.

  • Amazing Experience

by Si on 2/21/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

What an evening. Having waited nearly 30 years to finally watch the Ducks, the experience did not disappoint (except for the result!). From the moment we arrived at security, all the staff were so welcoming and helpful. They recognised that we were from the UK and suggested all the fun things we could do with the children. We had a few issues and the concierge couldn't have been more helpful. The whole event was great and I really hope we get to come back one day. Hopefully, by then, the price of food an drink may be more reasonable as that was the only downside we experienced. Some of the prices were bordering on obscene but I realise this isn't a problem only found in Anaheim as we had a similar experience at the Crypto.com arena too. Despite the food issue, it was an unforgettable evening and the organisation should be very proud of their staff.

  • First Live Devils Game

by Xanthus on 1/16/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a life long NJ Devils fan so this was great for me. This was my first time seeing them live and my family had a great time. Anaheim has a very nice arena and we had great seats. I will be coming back every year from here on out to see the Devils play the Ducks while they are on their west coast trip.

  • Ducks vs the Devils awesome

The venue was really well maintained. Parking organised and the game was awesome.

  • Fun times at the Ducks game!

by Blue Eagle on 1/14/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

The game was overall pretty awesome! It was unfortunate that they got blown out, but was still a fun experience! The fans were awesome, the food was awesome, and the general area experience including the things the Honda Center puts on during TV commercials and interviews are very fun! Definitely recommend experiencing it for yourself!

  • Amazing first professional hockey game

by Brittany on 1/9/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I decided to surprise our three young children with Hockey tickets and going to the Ducks game was one of the best times. We all enjoyed ourself, tickets were well priced. Seats weren’t great and definitely not children friendly but overall an amazing experience. We will definitely be going back.

  • Con-sessions way too expensive

by Bryan on 1/7/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 1 out of 5

How about making it affordable for consessions since you are not allowed to bring them in. We paid 8.00 for one bottle of water for our granddaughter and 12.00 for a box of popcorn which was cold since it was already boxed up and waiting for people to buy them. On top of that at the register you are awkwardly asked to tip the cashier!!!! Really! Did not even consider having a relaxing beer as it was 20.00 for one can of beer. The show was great but unfortunately we won't be back.

  • Great fun!

by Ace on 1/5/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Took our children there for their first hockey game and they loved it! The atmosphere and entertainment were great! Besides the hazy wet weather, it was a fun experience for the kids! Will be back again soon1

  • it was a very nice experience

by Shige on 1/3/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I went to the Honda Center for the first time to watch the NHL. The staff was also very kind and helpful

  • Too loud!

by John Doe on 1/2/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

TURN DOWN THE VOLUME! You don't have to fill every hockey free second with 100 decibel of useless noise. It's a hockey game after all, not a concert event. The food and beverage prices are obnoxious (greasy hot dog $20). The hockey was great.

  • Great experienced!!!

by Shige on 1/2/23Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Staff is good!! Arena is so excited!! I wanted to choice Dance time😂haha

  • Fantastic experience

by Tweety on 12/31/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

This was my families first ever hockey game. We are from Australia and the game was amazing and the centre and staff were fabulous 👍

  • Great 1st time!

by Beth on 12/31/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Never been to an ice hockey game before but loved my 1st experience! Had to use another ticketing site to see what my seat view was like before I booked, so that'd be helpful to introduce on this site. One complaint about the stadium was there's not enough vegan food options, but there's not much ticketmaster can do about that!

  • Great evening

by Davide on 12/26/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

It was awesome and fun! Great facility!! Fun event! Must do when in Anaheim!!

  • Bring money for food

by Pauly on 12/26/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 1 out of 5

Omg I bought a slice of pizza and a brisquit sandwich and it costs $27.50. Then the seats at the game where a little small and I had a chair kicker sitting behind me , very annoying . I sat in the upper deck and could see the game good.
