Anaheim Ducks History

What began as a 1992 Disney movie turned into a professional hockey team as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim played their first official season in the NHL in 1993. With the emergence of Paul Kariya in late 1994, Anaheim had its first bona fide superstar.

In 1996, Teemu Selänne arrived via trade, and alongside Kariya helped lead the franchise to its first playoffs appearance in 1997. The Ducks reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. Forever etched in Mighty Ducks lore was the knockout delivered upon Kariya by the Devils' Scott Stevens in game six. Kariya would make a hero's return in that game, emerging from the locker room to score and lead the team to victory. Netminder Jean-Sébastien Giguère won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs, becoming the fifth player to win the trophy as a member of the losing team.

Disney sold the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, and the team dropped the "Mighty" from their moniker. With star players on the roster, including future Hall of Fame defensemen Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer, the Ducks finished the 2007 season as Stanley Cup Champions, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games. With Rob Niedermayer also on the roster, the Niedermayers became the first set of brothers to win the Stanley Cup together since the 1980s.

  • It was great!

And they won! This year's team is fast & tenacious. The men create chances so they're fun to watch.

  • Amazing night with the Kobe tribute

    by Maserati4man on 2/1/20Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Section 207 is my favorite at Honda Center. The Angel's night was amazing on it's own but the Kobe Bryant tribute was stellar.

  • Had an awesome time!!

by CR on 1/14/20Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Had an awesome time like always!! Took some first timers and they loved the game and experience!!

  • Ehhhh.

    by Mr.B on 1/12/20Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 2 out of 5

Kinda of sad we had to walk a mile back to the car to take gfs purse back that was literally the size of a wallet containing her meds, inhaler and wallet. This is after the website says 16 to park and it is really 20, after spending a hundred on two nose bleed seats. Don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon.

  • GREAT game!

    by Concertgoer23 on 1/8/20Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Staff was super friendly, game was great, seats were excellence and got in and out of the arena smoothly! Maybe some more signs to remind where you parked and where drop of is but other than that will be coming back!!

  • First ice hockey game

    by j. on 1/2/20Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Great atmosphere. Fast pace. Great facilities . Every seat is a good seat

  • The Club seats are not worth the price.

    by Liz O. on 1/1/20Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 2 out of 5

These seats (Club seats) are very expensive and there is absolutely NOTHING special about them except for the access to the Jack Daniel's restaurant with its very expensive buffet. The seats are cramped and uncomfortable and even though in-seat service is provided, there is nothing but your lap on which to place food and drink and spills are just as likely as they are in regular seats. The game itself is fun to watch but you can enjoy it just as well from far less expensive seats.

  • Bags

    by T. on 12/30/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

This venue was great with one exception. I took a small purse with me. It was big enough to hold my phone and money etc. I was told I could not take it in. I have never been the the centre before so had no idea they had that rule. I had to take an Uber back to our rental and then back to the game. I went to the game and seen several ladies with purses the same size as mine. If you have a rule it should be consistent with all security. I spent $40 on Uber to take mine back.

  • Boring

by Trish on 12/30/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

The arena really needs to step up its in game entertainment. There’s no music, no videos during puck stoppage. The announcer doesn’t do his job at all. During a power play, I had no idea it was done because they didn’t say anything when the Ducks killed their power play. When they do play music or videos, it’s from the 80s or 90s. And the fans are so quiet. They don’t cheer for their team, they don’t boo the other team when they do something good. Hockey is a fun game where most of the players love hearing their fans cheer them on. It seems like Ducks fans come there to take a nap. And their food/drink stands move at the same pace as LA rush hour.

  • Ducks vs Rangers

    by Joe M on 12/17/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

The seats were great. There were a lot of Ranger fans in the arena. We saw a good game ending in OT.

  • Awesome game

by Dave on 12/17/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Perfect game for our son's first NHL experience. Come from behind, OT then shootout. Ducks win! Great game. 400 seats too narrow so club level we shall return. Worth it!

  • Great deal

    by Maserati4man on 12/16/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Ticket prices were reasonable. Best part was that it came with a souvenir refillable drink cup and a pizza slice.

  • Good game- horrible concessions

    by David P on 12/16/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

We waited in line at concessions & missed the first 10 min of game because of the understaffing & ridiculously slow people working concessions

  • Freeway Face-Off

by Phil on 12/15/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

First time ice hockey in California. Great experience starts with parking lot, over nice view from the seats to a good game on the ice with every tough 3rd period. I saw my first fight in a game, ok it is rivalry game. Complete perfect evening.

  • Feel the dark side

    by rhh33672 on 12/9/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

It was Star War night at the game. Lot of displays and characters dressed up for the night to take photos with. But NHL really sucks for having a rule of not allowing anyone to bring anything into the stadium using “safety/security” reason. So no water bottles of any kind, no light saber for Star Wars night, really? You are only allowed to bring a wallet with cash to buy their over priced items and your cellphone.

  • Expensive!!

by Maria on 12/9/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 2 out of 5

$17 for a beer is robbery. So is $11 for a slice of pizza and it’s not even good pizza. What a joke.

  • Hockey Game

by rm pm on 11/28/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

game experience was good. have to dress warmer very cold inside. concession prices way too high.

  • 5000 miles for the game.

    by Ian P on 11/17/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

We are keen hockey fans from the UK and were looking forward to our first NHL live game. The arenas are obviously much smaller in the UK, and the Honda Center is quite impressive to what we have. I was pleased with the ease of parking, despite being charged $20 , but the convenience of getting in to and out of the area just about made the cost of parking worthwhile. We found the clear bag policy a bit of a nuisance and had to return my wife’s small bag to the car. However, I appreciate that security is a necessary part of the modern sporting experience. We were pleased with the quality of the food outlet near the 424 block. The prices were reasonable for a sporting venue, and the food was better than what we had at the Staples Center a week earlier! It’s a pity the Ducks lost, but they are now my favourite NHL team! Please excuse the disjointed nature of this reply but I’m still jet lagged having returned to the UK from LAX only a few hours ago! Let’s go Ducks!

  • Need Paper tickets

    by Detroit-born-raise on 11/16/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

It was easy to purchase the tickets and I loved the stadium seating display. What I dislike is going away from printed or paper tickets. I am an old guys phones are to call people on not everything else but that. Give an old guy like me a way to pick up the tickets or print them out.

  • OT

by Linda on 11/9/19Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Great game but arena was really cold!! And I’m from Canada
