Anaheim Ducks History

What began as a 1992 Disney movie turned into a professional hockey team as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim played their first official season in the NHL in 1993. With the emergence of Paul Kariya in late 1994, Anaheim had its first bona fide superstar.

In 1996, Teemu Selänne arrived via trade, and alongside Kariya helped lead the franchise to its first playoffs appearance in 1997. The Ducks reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. Forever etched in Mighty Ducks lore was the knockout delivered upon Kariya by the Devils' Scott Stevens in game six. Kariya would make a hero's return in that game, emerging from the locker room to score and lead the team to victory. Netminder Jean-Sébastien Giguère won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs, becoming the fifth player to win the trophy as a member of the losing team.

Disney sold the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, and the team dropped the "Mighty" from their moniker. With star players on the roster, including future Hall of Fame defensemen Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer, the Ducks finished the 2007 season as Stanley Cup Champions, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games. With Rob Niedermayer also on the roster, the Niedermayers became the first set of brothers to win the Stanley Cup together since the 1980s.

One of the best hockey arenas. It felt clean and safe and beautifully decorated with marble. The food was delicious and filling. The only negative thing that happen was my ticket being double booked and the other people were escorted to another seat closer to the ice. Excited to go back

  • Overall good experience

by DucksvsWings on 1/12/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Liked that they checked everyone’s vaccination status & ID & that everyone had to wear a mask. Really liked the rapid test facility set up. It would be nice to have a small tram from the general parking to the arena entrance

  • Good game NY Rangers Win

by QueensDebo on 1/11/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

A lot of Rangers fans. Was hoping to see Panarin, but he was absent with covid protocol. Several Ducks players were out also. Good crowd, food lines short.

  • Great game; Ducks won big and Terry had a Hat Trick

    by J. M. on 1/7/22Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Parking, food and seats were great but there was an idoit philly fan w/friends, who clearly snuck into their seats (they kept moving early in the game when the real ticket holders showed up). They were disgusting and kept cursing. Someone complained to the Usher, but he was soft and only talked to them; all buddy-buddy like. He should have asked to see their tickets and thrown them out!

    by R. D. on 12/28/21Rating: 5 out of 5

I sat in the 2nd row with my brother and friend and we had the most fun time! It was my first time ever sitting that close and it was so surreal. Every game I go to at Honda Center, I have the best time with my favorite people creating the best memories! There’s no other place I’d rather be! Let’s Go Ducks!

  • No Bad Seats

    by B. B. on 12/20/21Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Not seat in the house is bad and there is so much going on that even a non hockey fan would have fun, which we did bring one and they admitted they would go to another game.

  • Don’t block the views!

by Carol on 12/20/21Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Happened to be Star Wars night which is fine, but they brought a whole group up and had them standing in the aisle. They were blocking our view while the game was being played. Do that on the breaks!

  • Not the club experience

by ClubSeater on 12/2/21Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 1 out of 5

We purchased club seats that were of course very expensive for the idea that someone would take our order so we could enjoy the game. We found out quickly the arena didn’t assign anyone to our section for the night. So I walked to a different section to place our order. We placed it in the beginning of the 2nd period. She demanded a tip on the spot before any service was provided. Mistake. Then 1 beer came out 10min into the 3rd period and food order came out 10 min after that after we had to ask about our order (which was forgotten about) and it was ice cold. Will never buy club seats in anahiem again
