Anaheim Ducks History

What began as a 1992 Disney movie turned into a professional hockey team as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim played their first official season in the NHL in 1993. With the emergence of Paul Kariya in late 1994, Anaheim had its first bona fide superstar.

In 1996, Teemu Selänne arrived via trade, and alongside Kariya helped lead the franchise to its first playoffs appearance in 1997. The Ducks reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2003, where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. Forever etched in Mighty Ducks lore was the knockout delivered upon Kariya by the Devils' Scott Stevens in game six. Kariya would make a hero's return in that game, emerging from the locker room to score and lead the team to victory. Netminder Jean-Sébastien Giguère won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs, becoming the fifth player to win the trophy as a member of the losing team.

Disney sold the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli in 2005, and the team dropped the "Mighty" from their moniker. With star players on the roster, including future Hall of Fame defensemen Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer, the Ducks finished the 2007 season as Stanley Cup Champions, defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games. With Rob Niedermayer also on the roster, the Niedermayers became the first set of brothers to win the Stanley Cup together since the 1980s.

  • Great Experience For the Family

    by Gabby K. on 12/1/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Overall I was very thrilled with my experience at the Ducks game. The seats were great (upper level) you can really see the plays and don't have to strain your eyes. Really from my perspective there wasn't a bad seat in the stadium. Comfortable seats and decent leg room. The mini shows were fun, music was great, and of course a stellar performance from the Ducks! I just had a few complaints, For one the event emails stated that security checks would begin at 10:30, however the staff was not informed so we had to wait an additional 30 minutes in line due to poor communication. Second the quality of food for the price was below average. Save your self some money and go to McDonalds before the game, or arrive on a full stomach. I would expect a $20 sandwich to be of higher quality. Most other stadiums I have gone to a $20 meal tastes great! and if it was of poor quality it would of cost closer to $12....

  • Everything wonderful until the drive out!

    by Jilly J on 12/1/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Food was good, staff friendly, game exciting, the drive in through the parking structure was a piece of cake! Then the stressfulness started! The drive out through the parking structure was an absolute nightmare! We did not move for more than 30 minutes on the 4th floor. It took us MORE than 50 minutes (yes, I timed it) to get completely out of the structure. I literally could have walked home in that amount of time. A HUGE let down for sure.

  • Awesome experience, I'd love to go again

by SteveThePirate on 12/1/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent! The venue was great (if not a pain to get to, and parking is a bit far from it, with the queue to get in a bit long), but the seats were really big, and I had a great view of the rink. I'd go again, if I lived in the US and near to it :D

  • Great time

Great ticket package with beers and seats. Ducks lost but still a great time.

  • Parking and exiting the parking garage was a nightmare

by Summer on 11/25/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 3 out of 5

All instructions for parking that were sent out didn't match what they had set up cone wise on game day and that caused mass confusion from people on where to go to get into the garage in the first place. So, need to do better there. Second was when exiting the garage, there were not enough attendants on each level to direct the flows of traffic. We were parked on the top level, level 5 ( We couldn't go to level 6 due to construction materials being staged on that level). We pulled out of our spot and proceeded to sit still for over 30 minutes did not move one bit. Finally we saw a group of cars start to move on the far side, closest to the elevators, and we were thankfully able to cut through over to that aisle where the cars were moving. Otherwise, I don't know how long we would have gotten stuck there on the back side ramp trying to go down to get out. Once we got over to that side the traffic actually moved. We were able to slowly keep creeping forward in order to get out of the garage. But that was after at least 45 minutes or more.

  • Freaking Awesome

  • TERRIFIC!!!

by HOCKEY FAN!!! on 11/22/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Great experience. The arena puts spectators on top of the action. Seats allow for great sight lines. The game was exciting.

  • Excellent Game

by Judy on 11/22/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

Nicely competitive game - very exciting when the teams are equally matched. The Honda Center needs to figure out the new parking - THAT was a a disaster.

  • Ducks on the pond

by Pete on 11/22/25Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Now that parking is being resolved this might be the best buy in SoCal. A little more on the construction immediately around the arena should resolve the exit confusion.
