Amon Tobin - A visual spectacular for the masses

by TheStigenator on 10/16/12Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Doesnt matter if you dont listen to electronica, just remember to get your mind blown to the visual effects.. its like roger waters the wall, but with more effects in a small stage.

    Absolutely mind blowing!

by watsondsw on 10/16/12Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

If you have an opportunity to go see Amon Tobin on this tour you absolutely should make sure you do. The entire show was simply mind blowing. Words simply can't do it justice. The combination of the out of this world visuals syncing perfectly with the unreal sounds Amon Tobin is melting the speakers with is unreal. I've never seen anything like it.

The visuals. The atmosphere. The music. All insane. This is a must see for anyone who likes electronic music or just cool performances.

Amon Tobin, best visual experience I've ever seen

by SweetCarolynie on 10/14/12Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I saw him last year, it was great. I saw him this year, even better. New music, new stage setup, immense sounds, I was floored. And so so happy.

Amon Tobin Isam At the Greek

by ElAbe on 10/14/12Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

A new level has been set in Multimedia and Electronic art. This show was much more than a concert with live visuals. It was an Amazing Experience. The visuals are the show and Amon Tobin is laying down the score to accompany them. If the opportunity presents itself DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!

Best visual show I've ever seen for an electronic concert. Better than Daft Punk's pyramid and DJ Shadow's Shadowsphere. Absolutely mind blowing and Amon Tobin's music meshes flawlessly with the visual displays and is even interactive with his DJ'ing at some points. Most of the show was trancy and hypnotic but he really laid it down for the last few songs, I haven't danced that hard in a long time. Totally worth it.

    I expected more.

    by AngeDeLumiere12 on 10/9/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Venue was amazing, sound system was amazing, stage setup was cool, but got old fast. Music wasn't paced very well. Crowd was all sitting around watching and zoning out, no energy to the show at all really. Nobody was dancing or doing anything exciting. Maybe I'm just biased because the last EDM show I saw here was Daft Punk back in 2006 and it completely blew this show out of the water.

    You should SEE it

by ForestChild on 10/8/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

The show is stunning. Memorizing. I personally was not a big fan of the latest Amon's record (ISAM), but coupled with the visuals of this show it's working great.

    Bass much too loud

by JIIB on 10/8/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

The bass killed the show (and it's a dubstep fan who is writing). With less bad and loud, it could have been a great show.

Great Visuals, Interesting Music - WAY TOO LOUD!!

    by Mike789 on 10/8/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

The Greek theater in Berkeley was a nice place to see this show. It was so LOUD, however, that my earplugs hardly helped. My clothes were vibrating for most of the show. I even caught myself gasping for air one time when the subwoofer frequency knocked it out of me. Amon Tobin is a true original talent, though, and he absolutely deserves all the accolades he's earned. Stay true to yourself, Amon, and thank you for what you do.

    Amon Tobin never Disappoints, AMAZING!!

    by Muchacho1986 on 10/8/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

For not even being a fan of his music, I have been to both of his bay area shows and am always amazed on his ability to push the envelope on live performance. Absolutely mind blowing and brilliant. I will not hesitate on buying tickets in advance for any show nearby, thats how amazing his shows are!

the good: -The visuals made the music easier to get into for my girlfriend, who is less into this style. -As a fan since his early days, i dug that the visuals didn't have an obvious narrative that could've distracted from just feeling the music. the way he did it, the music and visuals complemented each other well. -Great venue. Glad he ventured out of the usual clubs and concert halls. It was a little odd at first to see the audience sitting for the most part, and clapping between songs. It worked though, since it's just as much of a head trip as it is danceable, probably more so. Changes we hope Amon makes for future shows: -We would've liked to hear more of his "classics." I get that this was a different format than most concerts, and mixing new and old songs probably didn't make sense for the main show. Still, the encore was a missed opportunity to show some love for the long-time fans. -Hope he'll bring back some of the humor from the earlier albums. The dark stuff is great, but I think it would be a stronger set if the feel was more varied. -Would of liked to see more of him. The occasional glimpse of him sitting in his little glass cube was amusing, but would've liked to have a better view of him workin the gear.

    Amon Tobin

by KristianKOOO on 10/7/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

The most incredible live show I've seen in the last ten years . Amon Tobin is a genius! Not just a D.J. -but a composer of organic and chaotic beauty. The sound of "ISAM" live is other worldly. Tobin seamlessly orchestrates the rhythm of his set , drawing the listener into a cosmos of subtly and color. This concert was all masterfully aided by LEVIATHAN , "a design-focused production studio specializing in the creation of large scale visual experiences across all media". The engineers and artists at LEVIATHAN customized digital projection and sculpture , creating a concert experience that left me speechless . I brought my 15 year old brother to the show .It was his first concert . Truly brilliant.

    isam at Berkeley Greek Theatre

by abuckl on 10/7/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

mindblowing show ! the most impressive visuals I have ever seen. I especially liked parts of the encore where Amon went back to his Drum & Bass roots !! The venue would be my only point of critique. This show would be even more impressive in an otherwise completely dark room. The background light from the city took away from the visual experience.

    These lights are so bright

    by barry5 on 10/7/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Amon Tobin is an experience. His music is ok. His show is amazing. The music really requires a massive stack of speakers and the visual assault that perfectly reflects his sounds. The novelty of the projections on the unusual cubic surface never wears off. Hard to describe beyond that. Go see it and be befuddled to explain it to your friends too.

    Wow

by dvisme on 10/7/12Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

I don't really listen to Amon Tobin. But I heard the show was fantastic. It was. I felt like I was wake boarding a spaceship, and I've never seen anything like the visual display. I think it was a glimpse into the future of concerts.
