I did not enjoy the first band Holy Grail, but Eluveitie and Amon Amarth completely made up for it and were awesome!

About
As a Swedish death metal band that mainly pens and performs songs about Viking history and lore, it makes absolute sense that their name is in the fictional language of Sindarin (created by J. R. R. Tolkien) and translates into “Mount Doom”—the volcano in Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth. It’s also fitting that Johan Hegg (vocals), Olavi Mikkonen (guitar), Johan Söderberg (guitar), Ted Lundström (bass) and Fredrik Andersson play über-loud hit songs like “Death In Fire,” “Thousand Years of Oppression,” “Without Fear,” “A Fury Divine” and “Risen From the Sea” with as much speed and vigor as wielded by the almighty hammer of Thor. Legions of death metal fans have been grabbing concert tickets since the early ‘90s to witness the fire and fury of Amon Amarth LIVE on stage, performing music that the band’s website describes as “a compelling fusion of buzzsaw riff work, melodic harmonies and soul-crushing rhythms.” Amon Amarth frequently play at metal festivals around the globe and tour with other top-notch death metal acts like Goatwhore, Enslaved and Skeletonwitch.
Over the course of their career, Amon Amarth have played at venues like Arizona Federal Theatre, and have brought The Fillmore (Philadelphia), The Fillmore (Detroit), The Fillmore (Minneapolis) to capacity.

viking metal shred
by OrchidTheif on 4/15/10RICKSHAW THEATRE - VANCOUVERRating: 5 out of 5Monday's Amon Amarth show at the Rickshaw Theater, proved to be as much of a treat as eating a delicious cream filled doughnut from Timmy's on a Saturday afternoon. These Viking Metal gods, rode in on their Viking Metal horses Monday night, much to the delight of many devotees. They managed to play a set that included the ever so stimulating "Cry of the Blackbirds", "Valhall awaits me", and "Under the Northern Star" to name a few. The sweet sounds of battle mixed well with the slippery atmosphere of the Rickshaw, and created an enticing evening baked with insatiable goodness. Basically, it kicked ass!

Every band played really well. Amon was incredible though. Definitely recommend seeing the show if you have a chance - its well worth the money.
Amon Amarth: Truly Metal
by Mundilfari on 4/12/10Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5Amon Amarth was absolutely wonderful, same with Eluveitie. Holy Grail just seemed a little lost, and needs to rein in one of their guitarists...but hats are off to the sound guys and roadies, they did a spectacular job!
Amon Amarth & Eluveitie Rocked the Showbox!
by Vikinggod9 on 4/12/10Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5After thirty minutes of standing in the cold, we were welcomed in. Holy Grail opened up for the other two bands, in my opinion they were pretty good, closely resembling cellador and dragonforce, but it seemed most of the audience didn't like them as much as there was few headbangers lol. Well after Holy Grail, Eluveitie played. They were completely unexpected and baddazz. Their sings were gentle and stirring, but at the same time able to headbang to. Finally the stage was set for Amon Amarth, and as expected, they rocked the house! I was in the front row and the crowd was plastering me to the railing. They played more songs than expected. Then, they left the stage. The crowd called for an encore by chanting the name of their most loved song, "pursuit of vikings" and they came back and played it!
Eluveite was bomb
by Morningstarband on 4/12/10House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5Amon Amarth was cool but Eluveite was who i would have wanted to see more of. They're music is definitely more technical and entertaining
Amazing Amon Amarth
by RabidFan on 4/12/10Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5This venue was the perfect place to get close to and really enjoy the music of Amon Amarth. Their music is amazing and their performance was wicked awesome. My friend and I each caught a guitar pick and this only enhanced what was already an unforgettable experience. Thanks Amon Amarth for visiting this little part of the world and for sharing your musical genius with rabid fans from the Pacific Northwest!
Amon Amarth tranported me
by Anonymous on 4/12/10Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5to a whole new world, filled with Brotherhood, Vikings and Death. The immersion was so complete that I lost all sense of time and my body, all I could do was headband and sing. There was nothing else. AMAZING!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amon Amarth at the Showbox
by Attila500 on 4/12/10Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5Amon Amarth performed an incredible and long set at the Showbox last night. The lead singer was very charasmatic and bonded with the audience (who responded with enthusiasm). I would crawl over broken glass whilst naked in order to see this band again.
Great
by Anonymous on 4/11/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5Amon Amarth was great! So was the band that played before them. Loved how long the set was and how into it everyone was.
All about ELUVEITIE
by ALMITE on 4/11/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5I drove 400 miles just to see Eluveitie. They were frickin awesome. The only part that sucked was they did not headline.
Awesome
by Zambini on 4/11/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5Amon Amarth was amazing. Fear Factory was pretty great too, but I personally feel that Amon Amarth should have been headlining and given more time for a longer setlist. AA started MUCH earlier than expected, too, which was strange, so I unfortunately missed one or two of their songs.
Berserkers go berserk!
by lilol3chordme on 4/10/10House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5I am very hard to impress when it comes to live music. But I can avow with all the sinews in my body that AMON AMARTH are the real deal. Although I was a bit disappointed that there were no vikings going William Wallace during their set but what the heck! I totally enjoyed myself! Their musicianship & technique are flawless. & Mr. Johan Hegg is the best metal frontman since Rob Halford. & while I'm there I will say that the duo of Mikkonen & Soderberg on guitars is one of the finest pairings since Tipton & Downing. Or Murray & Smith for that matter.
most epic show ever!
by Anonymous on 4/10/10House of Blues Sunset Strip - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5I saw the first show of their tour and it was sick! the opening bands, Holy Grail and Eluveitie, were both great, then when Amon Amarth came on it got crazy. everyone went insane until the show was over. the mosh pit was crazy.
Amazing.
by cogitoergosoup on 4/10/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5They threw a huge amount of energy into the show. The crowd was going nuts the whole time. The mosh pit was lame, but so what.
blown away,
by emilydavis08 on 4/10/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5it was totally brutal...it was like a buzsaw to the jugular....it was like a pair of steel-toe boots to the teeth. but no really, it really awesome! amon amarth gives amazing shows!!!!!
excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
by vomitorybloodbath on 4/10/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5I arrived at the concert right before 6:00 and I waited for the first band to play. I thought that Dirge Within was going to be there but they were not. When Eluveitie started to play, I was right up front. They started with their new single Thousandfold and then played 5 more songs. I was dissapointed because they only had a half hour set but they were still awesome! Amon Amarth was next and they were amazing! I was still in the front then and I was forcefully pushed further to the front. My friend said he was going somewhere but I couldn't hear where, I followed him. It turns out he was going to the pit and i was immediately forced in. Ten seconds later I got kicked in the back! It really hurt! After Amon Amarth I went to go sit on the balcony during Fear Factory. I bought a shirt and then met Meri from Eluveitie. Then I went home. All in all it was an exciting experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
Amon Amarth brought the metal!
by Celticwarrior916 on 4/10/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5Eluvietie was great but they should have been allowed to play much longer, 4 songs was not enough. Amon Amarth was AWESOME!!! Great show. Fear Factory is not my kind of band. So I left after their first song. They are too loud and are too over produced.
Amon amarth!!
by in4no on 4/10/10The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5Amon amarth is an absolute monster of a band. It was great to finally see them live since I've heard and liked majority of their albums. Death in Fire, live for the kill, valhall awaits etc. were just amazing, aggressive and spot on. A very tight unit and Johan hegg's growls were furious as the sound conjured up the scenes of a battle field. Ofcourse, it was nice to see some good old fashioned albeit small mosh pit at the center. All in all, can't wait to see them again.
