From the off, let me just say that I do NOT like Romeo & Juliet, the story, the play, the ballet...but any excuse to see the ABT in action is good enough for me. They did not disappoint. The dancing was superb, as always; IRINA DVOROVENKO was a wonderful Juliet, innocent and playful. There were moments when she practically floated across the floor. ROBERTO BOLLE has a reputation that he lives up to. He dances really powerfully and the lifts are perfectly beautiful. As I mentioned, I am not a fan of this particular ballet, I find the music less than moving, the staging clunky, obnoxious costuming, and the characters exasperating, so if I could get over it and love the ABT production, anyone is remotely a fan of dance will enjoy it!
I much prefer Swan Lake, Manon or Sylvia, but any ABT is better than no ABT.
