About

AMERICA IN CONCERT:

Iconic folk rockers America have been performing to sold out crowds since the '70s, treating generations of fans to genre classics like “A Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair."  Considered a top-shelf  touring act, the band thrilled fans with the announcement of a 2014 coast-to-coast U.S. tour of their greatest hits.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”

“They are just as good as when I first saw them in 1976, and I will continue to see them year after year… Their voices never seem to change, and in addition to all of their popular hits, they sang less popular songs from their albums, which I loved.”

“Played all their big hits and then some, with covers of "California Dreamin" by The Mamas and The Papas and "‘Til I Hear It from You" by the Gin Blossoms—a surprise. They sounded excellent from start to finish.”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Gerry Beckley, Dewey Burnell and Dan Peek were barely out of high school when they first made a splash in the British folk-rock scene as America. Not only did they score an international hit with “A Horse With No Name,” but they took home the 1972 Grammy for Best New Musical Artist. A string of additional hits would follow, including “Ventura Highway,” “Daisy Jane,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” In 2007, the band surprised fans with Here & Now -- their first album release since 1998's Human Nature -- earning praise from critics and kicking-off another successful tour. In 2011, America once again headed into the studio to record Back Pages, a collection of covers including renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Gin Blossoms.

  • Not bad

by Old School Music on 8/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 4 out of 5

After about an hour I realized that I wasn't a hard core America fan (I should have know since I only own one LP) but the early hits from the very early 70's were awesome. The musicality was great. The other lead guitarist was great on his instrument, but I sure wasn't a fan of his voice. All in all, I am glad that I attended and was able to see another great artist in person!

  • Oldies but goodies

by Vick on 8/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 4 out of 5

Even though only one member of the original band remains, the musicians were excellent and sounded amazingly close to what I remembered. Some top notch talent on guitar and drums made it an excellent concert. Fun to see all the old photos of what we all liked like 50 years ago!

  • A must see concert

by Higher Learning on 8/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

This 2025 tour highlighted America's greatest hits discography, although Gerry Beckley was not there. His role was filled in by Andy Barr, who gave justice to Beckley's vocals. The overall experience was positive.

  • Great show.

Great show. America played all their greatest hits straight through for 2 & 1/2 hours without a break. Nostalgic.

  • Good

by Guinea on 8/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the show. But other than their hits, the music didn't seem to go along with America's genre. It was more psycodelic bordering on heavy metal. Several people around us left. But their hits were all great. Sounded like original. They might do better touring with another oldies group and each just have an hour.

  • Great music

This band can rock. But also does great ballads. A thoroughly enjoyable show! Brings back memories.

  • Best Concert in a long time

by Lisa on 8/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

America didn't disappoint. They were the first concert I went to when I was 15 or 16. They are just as great and still relevant as they were then. I really had a great time and it was sweet to go down memory lane.

  • Outstanding!

Top of the list! They were so very good. I loved the videos in the 1970s. Nothing I would change about this concert. It took me back to a great time in life and let me reminisce. Excellent! Would see them again tomorrow if I had t6ge chance.

A very fun evening enjoying some of my favorite songs with Dewey Bunnell and his talented group of musicians.

Even though it was only Dewey, it was an amazing night, reminiscing through all the feel good songs.

It truly doesn't get any better when you experience the band called America and their songs. I found it to be the "bucket list"event I anticipated it would be. Great musicians, singers and showmanship.....if you get the opportunity....take it!

  • The America I was actually proud to be a part of!

It was a time capsule! Tight harmonies and great musicians!

  • Awesome

by Jan on 8/19/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 5 out of 5

The America concert was awesome. They can really get the rock on and of course all of the hits. They sound great and I had a really great time. That poor chair I sat in took it in the shorts I never stopped signing or rockin. The Morrison Center is the perfect place for a concert. Smaller venue. Awesome

  • Meh

by Special K on 8/19/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 2 out of 5

Though the band was good the mixing of vocals was poor and I didn’t know Gary wouldn’t be there.

  • Not what hoped for

by Ken on 8/19/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 2 out of 5

We expected the America we had heard for years. They didn't show up and it was a waste of our money. Sad. The original America didn't spend their time screeching lead guitars in place of more classic guitars and worked on harmony vs. such loud music one could hardly hear them. So sorry it was not as advertised.

  • America, Boise Id

by Ssch on 8/19/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 4 out of 5

The music was good, but since there was only 1 member of the original 3 lead singers there some of the songs were not quite the same. Apparently Gerry has left the group and so songs he sang lead on were not quite the same. The concert was only about 90 minutes which I felt was a bit short for the price of the tickets

  • Oldies but Goodies!

by Tds on 8/19/25Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 5 out of 5

Music was great, concert duration was good, stories in between were great. But the sound was too loud at times. Couldn't really hear the singing sometimes. I don't think that should have happened with the acoustics in the Morrison Center. And it wasn't just me; i heard others say the same thing. But we all sang along anyway!
