About

AMERICA IN CONCERT:

Iconic folk rockers America have been performing to sold out crowds since the '70s, treating generations of fans to genre classics like “A Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair."  Considered a top-shelf  touring act, the band thrilled fans with the announcement of a 2014 coast-to-coast U.S. tour of their greatest hits.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”

“They are just as good as when I first saw them in 1976, and I will continue to see them year after year… Their voices never seem to change, and in addition to all of their popular hits, they sang less popular songs from their albums, which I loved.”

“Played all their big hits and then some, with covers of "California Dreamin" by The Mamas and The Papas and "‘Til I Hear It from You" by the Gin Blossoms—a surprise. They sounded excellent from start to finish.”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Gerry Beckley, Dewey Burnell and Dan Peek were barely out of high school when they first made a splash in the British folk-rock scene as America. Not only did they score an international hit with “A Horse With No Name,” but they took home the 1972 Grammy for Best New Musical Artist. A string of additional hits would follow, including “Ventura Highway,” “Daisy Jane,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” In 2007, the band surprised fans with Here & Now -- their first album release since 1998's Human Nature -- earning praise from critics and kicking-off another successful tour. In 2011, America once again headed into the studio to record Back Pages, a collection of covers including renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Gin Blossoms.

    Nostalgic

I've seen America perform for the 50th anniversary. This show was good, but very short and could've sang more hits. It was very coordinated and rushed.

We loved every part of the America concert!! The songs they sang were what we remember from our college days and beyond. We are so very glad we took advantage of this chance to see and hear América.

    Another great show

    by Jimifan on 8/29/23

America has always delivered in every show I have seen. This one exceeded my expectations and the slide shows were right on the money. One element that could have been better was that the stage lighting kept turning toward the crowd. Way too bright! I had to wear sunglasses…..

    A little disappointed

    by Jules on 8/29/23

I have seen America at least four times and unfortunately this was my least favorite time seeing them. I don't know if it was the crowd I was sitting next to or just a low energy concert. I loved the film behind the band showing all the history of America and the films that their music has been in. I can't put my finger on exactly what was lacking but I left disappointed.

    America - Sensational!

    by Leonardo on 8/29/23

The band is amazingly talented and it was a pleasure seeing them for the fourth time in my life. It was special for two reasons: it was the best venue ever I see them (YouTube Theater is amazing) and because Gerry Beckley is taking a breal from performing and who knows if he'll be back.

Dewey and Gerry still got it!

    by MaladjustedMike on 8/29/23

All the hits! They are still rocking at 70! Both still got the voice and the guitar chops. Might be awhile before another tour but go see these two.

I hadn’t seen them since 1972 and they didn’t skip a beat! Great sound, great video, great band, then and now!

    Venue poor accessibility

    by AM22 on 8/29/23

I missed 1/3 rd of the show because the venue was not marked, there was no where to park or drop off for ride share. America sounded good but it was very short and seemed a little effortless. It took over an hour to get an Uber after the show in a sketchy neighborhood. While the venue was nice, acoustics good, the coming and going situation needs to be overhauled, I will probably not go again.

    Thirsty venue.

    by Spider on 8/29/23

Great venue. America was awesome. Pricey refreshments. I love a beer or two but $21 a beer is ridiculous. More than Dodger stadium.

    Absolutely Amazing!

by Shelly's Two Cents on 8/29/23

Sometimes I will splurge and purchase front row seats to bands I simply love and America fit that bill to a tee last Saturday night. I have attended several America concerts throughout the years and this experience was the best so far! Vocals were spot on and the chemistry of the entire band was pure! The iconic songs that we all sing along to on the radio hits the heart every time I hear them sing live. I have wonderful memories of those songs as a child growing up, listening to America on my transistor radio, riding my pony through the fields, looking up at the Colorado blue skies. I am one of the fortunate ones that got to live this era and carry it on to my children and grandchildren. America is simply the best!

    Great Night!

    by Gina on 8/29/23

To be a true musician, you have to carry the audience without all the flash - and that's who these guys are - true musicians! Simple stage, simple lighting and all talent. My Mother-in-law cried as she finally got to experience hearing 'Tin Man' live. I was sad the moment it was over. Great show, great memory.

    AMERICA STILL GREAT!

by America 50+ Years on 8/29/23

America played a 1 3/4 hour set of 21 songs with story telling and video clips accompanying the songs. They sounded great and the band was solid. "Ventura Highway"and "Sister Golden Hair"were terrific. "Sandman"was intense. Fantastic night. Our first time at the You Tube Theater at Sofi Stadium. Wonderful, classy venue. Great staff, delicious food, nice lounges and the concert hall is first rate with great sound. I will be back.

Band - Great !l Venue- not so much

    by JeffB on 8/29/23

I've seen them a few times since the 70's and was stoked to see them again. Their voices were right on, albeit a bit weaker than their heyday, but they sounded good, music and memories were well worth it. The venue, however, while having good sound and comfortable seats, had one glaring negative. NO food in the venue. They had 4 food trucks outside (4 trucks for 6000 people); I got in line 90 minutes before the concert started, and got my food in time to be 20 minutes late for the start of the show. HORRIFIC disrespect by the venue of its concert-goers. Eat first.

    So-so Location

    by Bii M on 8/29/23

The band was great. The Youtube theater not so much. Parking in the outback was ridiculous. There was no signage to the theater from the Pink area. Had to go upstairs to then go downstairs on stairs that were poorly lighted. Food was high cost. Leaving the event you had to follow cones in the parking lot just hoping it would lead you to a street that you could use to go home.
