Amedaus Mozart movie, orchestra and choir

by Lourdes818 on 9/19/17Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

What an amazing show. We loved every minute of it! The music was perfect!! The choir was majestic! I'm so glad we went to this venue. It is our gem in The Valley! Can't wait to go back and see another show.

    Terribly overpriced and banal.

by albertcamus on 9/19/17Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

The music was great. The film was not. There is little difference between watching the film in a theater and with live orchestra music synced to it. In part because you're almost entirely focusing on the mediocre film which distracts from the great music. I'm not sure how the film got as much acclaim as it did but it seemed pretty dull and devoid of anthing interesting whatsoever. The first half comprises of three sentiments hammered in over and over "Mozart is a genius. Salieri is jealous. Mozart is a buffoon". The second half conjures up some manufactured and shallow conflict to build tension but it seems pretty artificial and silly. Oh and the film isn't even close to accurate when it comes to depicting his demise or final years. Yeah, the orchestra was great. But was it really worth $100? No. Not if you're someone who doesn't have an absurd amount of disposable income to throw away which most people looked like they seemed to have.

    Great Night of Live Music

by Ronnie123 on 9/19/17Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Fantastic night of great music performed by incredible LA Chamber Orchestra and members of LA Opera Chorus. Sir Neville Marriner would have been proud to see this performance. MORE of these performances please!!

AMADEUS LIVE, INCREDIBLE!!!! "Soraya" perfect name

by Keeni on 9/19/17Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

The new name for this venue is perfect, "The Soraya", is the jewel of the Valley!!!! I have been to this venue for many years, and I have yet to be disappointed in any performance!!!!! Seats were astounding, the comment from my husband, we need to have a live orchestra and chorus for these kind of movies at our house. I told him, we don't have enough food. The sound was incredible, I love this venue, have gone to it for years. Simply amazing, was very glad to get tickets. I so wanted to thank the Nazarian's personally for their contribution to our valley.

I hope this piece is presented again. The talent of LACO and our LA Opera vocalists is astounding, plus the actual film is a gem.

    Enjoyed it!

by DiegoGal on 9/19/17Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Fantastic performance, the orchestra and choir were spot on. Wouldve loved it if the opera parts had been live as well. I found the subtitles on screen to be a bit distracting, but perhaps it's an ADA requirement. Overall amazing!

    Amadeus brought to life!

by warde on 11/1/16Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

best way to experience the movie Amadeus; the orchestra and choir added so much depth to it. The transition between the movie audio and the live music was seamless. Loved it!

    Amadeus Live

by donnaanddon on 10/31/16Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

Would not attend again. Would have preferred that they play more -maybe put the movie on mute and continue a piece of music. It was like paying $85 each to go to the movie theatre

I hadn't seen the movie in years but it was wonderful on the big screen with the live musical performance. The orchestra and the choir did an amazing job. The only negative - movies should have popcorn!
