About

Like their band name, the multi-faceted sound of British indie rockers Alt-J (∆) requires a bit of explaining. The name derives from the combination of keys that results in a delta sign (∆) on Mac computers; the sound – a combination of folk-pop, skittering polyrhythms, and soaring falsetto harmonies – results in happy critics and even happier listeners.  The quartet formed in 2007 in a Leeds Metropolitan University dorm room, and the constraints of recording demos in a quiet study environment heavily influenced their hushed, intricate approach to indie rock. Their 2012 debut An Awesome Wave received the Mercury Prize, Britain’s most prestigious music award, and launched the band to indie stardom with singles “Breezeblocks” and “Fitzpleasure.” Alt-J are on tour in 2013, and ticket buyers can be sure that no matter how big the venue, the band will deliver the intimate live concert they’ve become known for.

    What an amazing show!

by Fitz P. on 3/29/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

I got to see Alt-J last year and will continue to go whenever they come to town. My son actually bought me this ticket for Xmas and I have to say that, going to see a single (albeit excellent) album seemed like too much. But of course, I was wrong. Not only did they nail the entire Awesome Wave record, but they added another 5-7 hits afterwards. It was amazing! And the Wiltern is one of my favorite places to see a show anyway. I wish I could give these lads MORE STARS!

Loved the show! Alt-J put on a great, powerful performance- first time I’ve seen them live. I just wish they had played longer!

    Wish showtimes were correct

    by D on 3/27/23Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Tickets said doors at 8, show at 9. We didn’t know the opener so we decided to come at 9:30 to come into what we thought would be the start of Alt J. We arrived and they had already finished almost all of “The Awesome Wave” section of the performance. Did the opener not play? Very bummed. The venue was beautiful as always, love the fox. The band made a comment about people in the balcony being “comfortable”. Uhhh? Shouldn’t they be? Seemed kind of rude. Anyways, weird ending to a tour and sad to have missed almost all of the show.

    They sounded like their records.

by Blackierobinson42 on 3/25/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

They put on an amazing show. They pretty much played almost every song back to back. They didn’t waste play time and talk to the crowd. They did good interacting with the audience and also played a good encore. It was their third straight show and they had incredible energy. I will definitely see them everytime that I have a chance to.

    alt J @ Fox Theater

by AJ on 3/25/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The sound mix was amazing! So crisp & clear, I felt like I was right up front even though my seat was all the way in the balcony. alt J’s lighting show was also probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. Only down side was my seat was near some stairs so people were constantly in the way of my view. I’d recommend anyone buy a seat more towards the middle of their section just to avoid this issue. Other than that had a great time. Fox is a beautiful old theater.

    Good show

by RR on 3/24/23XL Live - Harrisburg

Good show. Venue was new to me. Nice they had screens to see on the side, but the lights made it hard to see anything on the screens.

    Awesome Show Great Venue

by Maurey on 3/24/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The Band was perfect. But i gotta say I was super impressed by the Wiltern! Its a beautiful theater with lots of bars, so no lines for drinks. Clean, comfortable and a great sound.

So Nice, I saw them twice

by Tessa on 3/24/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

i bought tickets to see this iconic band months ago, excitedly waiting in the queue to buy tickets with early access, as An Awesome Wave changed my life. I saw them ten years ago and it was amazing, but I don't think I remembered just how amazing. the show sounded SO GOOD: everything was balanced, the musicians were on their game, the xylophone went OFF, and the bass on Fitzpleasure woke me up from the dream I had been unknowingly living in. after their show -but before the encore- I went on ticketmaster and bought another ticket for the following night. and wouldn't you know, it sounded even BETTER. truly a dream to get to relive the complex emotions and nostalgia of 2013. go see em if ya can

Great concert, venue, VIP offerings a little weak.

by Aaron on 3/23/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Ambiance, acoustics, drinks, artist, sound quality, lighting were incredible! VIP food offerings needs a little work.

    TOO SHORT

by Susan L on 3/23/23The Wiltern - Los Angeles

I was disappointed that the whole concert from Alt- J (including the encore) lasted only 1 hour and 15 minutes. We drove all the way from San Diego, and it felt like we were shortchanged. That said, the performance was amazing as always. Just wished it was much longer!

Alt-J An Awesome Wave 10 Year Anniversary Concert

by GJ on 3/20/23XL Live - Harrisburg

Loved the venue set up. The seamless transition from general admission area to the patio space was awesome. The sound was perfect. I'm definitely excited to come see another show in this venue in the future. Definitely worth the cross country drive to come experience this concert at this venue.

    Amazing!

    by J on 3/19/23XL Live - Harrisburg

I loved this concert! Alt J did a fantastic job. Loved the small concert feel. Lights were great. Sound was great. It was my first time to the XL venue (previously only did riverfront concerts) and I will gladly go back. Loved the outside space if you needed air. Plenty of restrooms and drinks.
