About

Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Russian parents, Alina Baraz has been around music all her life. With both parents having classical training, she was destined to find her voice through music, citing D'Angelo, Daniel Caeser and Amy Winehouse as some of her major influences. Almost immediately after the release of her first single, "Roses Dipped in Gold" at age 19, Baraz and her family moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career as a singer/songwriter full time.

In 2015, Baraz released her debut project, Urban Flora. The project was a thoughtful exploration of a past relationship, made entirely over the internet with the Danish producer Galimatias. The two artist's partnership began when Baraz sang her lyrics over a Galimatias beat, which would go on to be titled "Drift." The acclaimed project was praised by the Guardian, NPR, Huffington Post, Harpers Bazaar and many more, and sat on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart for over 125 weeks, peaking at #2.

2017 was a career year for Baraz. In January, she released the viral single "Electric" ft. Khalid, which has been streamed over 130M times and counting. The single was followed by an entire EP of remixes, pushing streams around "Electric" to over 157M worldwide. Filling the year with live appearances, Baraz headlined a sold-out US tour in the spring and joined Coldplay as support on their Head Full of Dreams Tour in the fall.

Baraz draws heavy inspiration from color and described the process of her latest project and album prelude The Color of You as a major departure from her artistic comfort zone. Before recording the project, she had never worked with more than one person at a time, let alone in a professional studio. Enlisting Grammy-nominated producer Robin Hannibal (Kendrick Lamar, Calvin Harris, Cee Lo Green) to help produce the project, Alina completely changed her songwriting process throughout the sessions. The project is a timeline of her trying to comprehend a new person entering her life, impacting it as intensely as a color she's never seen before.

    Alina was amazingggggg.

by Crissy on 11/8/21The Observatory - Santa Ana

The energy of Alina’s concert and herself, was so much fun and her visuals were beautiful. She’s such an amazing performer. Watching concerts at the observatory are intimate because of how much smaller the venue is than others. I loved it!

    Short amount

by Anon on 11/8/21The Observatory - Santa Ana

She was a great performer. The only bad thing is that we waited for a long time and she only got to perform for 45 minutes.

Her energy was amazing and everything about her set to the lighting was amazing. She was interactive with the crowd and was very genuine. Her voice sounded amazing and the production as well.

    INCREDIBLY DIVINE

by champagnejho on 11/8/21The Observatory - Santa Ana

I’ve been an Alina Baraz fan since the first time I stumbled on her music in 2015. This is the second time I see her and I was so happy to be able to do a meet and greet. She is so amazingly kind and sweet which makes me appreciate her and love her more as an artist. Her performance was amazing and personal. INCREDIBLE artist!!

    Worst concert I’ve experienced.

by Elmira on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

It was very disappointing. The sound was terrible, everyone could barely hear Alina. She sang for about 30 minutes and announced it was her last song. Then she sang 3 more songs because I’m certain she could feel the disappointment of the group. Maybe this was just the venue or just the sound system but it was pretty bad. Regardless, Alina’s songs are incredible and I love her music so I will continue listening online.

    Sound could have improved

by Janey on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

The only thing that matters is the sound at a concert, & the music was overpowering her voice.

    Sound too low

by Ale on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Wanted to hear her singing louder. The background music was way louder then her audio mic.

wouldn't go again unless they make some changes

by jp on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

I was so excited to finally see Alina Baraz live but overall I was disappointed in this experience after the concert. She posted set times on her instagram story the day of the concert and she was supposed to come on at 9 - she didn't come out until 9:30pm. It's fine that she was late, but she only sang for maybe 40 minutes and the concert was already over by 10:30. On top of that, her voice was amazing but we could barely hear it since the bass was so loud. The only way I really heard her was after the concert when I watched videos I recorded since the videos couldn't pick up so much bass.

    Not a good experience

by Cowlover on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Got VIP tickets expecting to have seating but no had to stand the entire time. There was vip seating but never got the option to buy those tickets and I got early access to buy tickets. Couldn’t see the entire time because the people that were in the rows of seating were standing so no one in the back could see the show. Very disappointing to say the least, had to leave early.

Glad I only paid for general admission

    by H on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

She was gorgeous but the audio was terrible - we could barely hear her. Of course what I could hear was amazing so I wish I could have really listened to her sing. Came out late and the show was short. Glad I only paid for general admission.

    Cool venue, lackluster show

by Rach on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Missed the opener. The venue was super fun and the look of the show was beautiful with the lights and dancers. I was super excited to see Alina live as I’ve been a fan of her music forever. I was super disappointed that she was not singing live and the few moments she did actually sung, the mic was so quiet you could not even hear her. What a bummer. I would’ve saved my money and just listened to her album really loudly in my living room for the same experience.

    Awful Sound

by Shannon on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Could not hear Alina singing 90% of the time because she was too quiet and the background music and bass was way too loud

Love the artist but the venue's acoustics leave much to be d

by Nataliacbrown on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Alina Baraz was so talented and she put on a great show. Unfortunately the sound system at the palladium was so bad that you could barely get the music. This isn't the first time I've seen a great artist with terrible audio equipment at the Palladium. I will not be coming back to this venue...

    Uninspiring

by Bendy on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Covid safety/entrance was very well organized. But the event itself was a mess. The audio was terrible for both the opener and main performer. Distorted blown out sound. Main vocal mic was so low. Singer was lip singing. Short set. Late to start.

    okay overall

by stef on 11/6/21Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

The sound system was horrible when Alina Baraz came out to perform. It was too loud, my ears were hurting. People around us complained about the sound system and others were covering their ears. The instruments being played were louder than Alina’s voice. Her voice was barely audible because of how loud everything else was. Also, we paid money to hear Alina Baraz sing and we couldn’t even get an hour before she ended the concert. I understand for breaks or pause time but she was late and she did not even sing one full song. It’s such an intimate venue and it’d would have been nice to actually hear her sing and full songs. I felt she was rushing to end the show. I love her music but I don’t think I’d pay to see her again.

    VIP Experience?

by Unee on 11/1/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I was very happy overall with the performances by both Hope Tala(the opening act) and Alina Baraz. They were AMAZING! Unfortunately though I was let down by the organization of everything. I bought VIP Gold tickets that included a meet and greet but the clarity on that I needed to come 2 hours early was not there. I came at the time I was told to by my initial ticket purchase email and what was on my ticket itself. I only realized after being told it was over that they had sent 1 email that week that had it in small print. Many other people missed out on it as well due to poor communication from the organizers. I at least got my merch from the meet and greet. Ive done meet and greet before with other artists and was surprised they had wanted us to show up 2 hours earlier, but I do understand part of it is on me. I was also bummed it took ~45min after the opening act finished for Alina to start her set, and considering I was in standing everyone in my section was getting impatient. Alina’s performance was amazing and I believe most of the issues to have been mostly due to the fact it was the first show she’s done in 3 years so there’s just some kinks that need to be straightened out. I would go to her show again but once I know it’s not as complicated and the communication issues have been resolved.

Only performed for 45 minutes including “encore”

by Austin on 10/28/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

It seemed like something went wrong with production since the intro to the concert played several times. She only started performing around 9 pm, when she sang a few songs and walked off stage around 9:30. She came back for an “encore” of 10 minutes or so. We expected much better and feel we deserve a partial refund.

    Short but not sweet

by Depaly on 10/28/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The doors opened at 6:30, and Alina didn't get on stage until 8:45ish. She then only performed for less than an hour (about 50 minutes). Really disappointed because I was looking forward to this show. I don’t feel like that’s worth all the money I spent.
