Great show by the Albany Berkshire Ballet! I was especially impressed by the jumping ability of the Russian dancer. Bravo!
The show was amazing! It is so nice to have a truly professional company come into Springfield for these shows. To watch dancers from around the world was really exciting! I would recommend this to everyone, young or old. It is a great holiday tradition to start with your family.
This is me eleventh consecutive Nutcracker with my 14 yr old and fourth consecutive with my seven yr old... Always a quality event...
I loved the ballet..... Choreography was a bit different but very very nice.....
MY DAUGHTER AND I TOOK MY 3 GRANDDAUGHTERS TO THE 4:30 SHOW ON SATURDAY,DEC.13.THEY ARE 17,12,AND 9 YEARS OLD,WE ALL LOVED THE SHOW, EVEN THE 17 YEAR OLD WAS ABLE TO STOP TEXTING TO ENJOY THE SHOW.MY 12 YEAR OLD WAS MESMERIZED AND THE 9YR OLD LOVED THE ACTION AND THE COSTUMES.WE HAD GREAT SEATS--3RD ROW ON THE SIDE.THE LITTLE GIRL THAT PLAYED ELSA WAS REALLY GREAT--
I had read the reviews from the previous year that were negative so, I was hesitant to purchase in the first place, but I thought my 6 year old daughter who takes dance would enjoy it. I knew there was no live instruments based on those reviews but for the price you are paying per ticket, it would have been nice to have a real symphony. I think the performers did a good job but having been someone who knows a little something about dance, it was hard for me not to pick up mistakes. Overall, it was good, but not great.
I have to admit that I only bought tickets to this play because my niece play a part of a party girl. The play seemed very professional until I noticed that there was not a live orchestra playing, I kinda expected them to have one, instead there were speakers which during the show had faulted and this amazing young woman performed seamlessly with out her music. I thought she was very talented to be able to know her dance with out the music. I think that definitely would not have happened if there was a live orchestra playing for sure!!!!! I was also extremely disappointed because they did not highlight the local dancers that worked so hard for weeks and for what to perform then to be brought to the basement to be picked up by parents. They anxiously await this performance day then don't even get acknowledged at the end of the show for applause, please if anything change that about the show in the future. the young people such as my niece would have loved a chance to take a bow.
The nutcracker was overall a relatively enjoyable experience, until the sound went completely dead during the second act and the dancers had to dance with out music. The music came back on a few minutes later but was then skipping for several songs. It appeared quite amateur, and at almost $50 a ticket I was very disappointed.
The music was canned -- no orchestra. One of the CD players started acting up and "chirping". It failed completely, resulting in one dance having to be performed without music. The synchronization of the backdrops was all screwed up, at one point they realized the backdrop hadn't been changed and it was "released" in mid-piece with a loud thump. The next time, they lowered it slowly but it got stuck half-way and we were laughing hysterically as they tried to "wiggle" it up and down. Lastly, the choreography was terrible -- it was as if the dancers were dancing to something completely different than what was playing. And given the screw ups with the music, maybe that was actually the case. A total disaster, I want my $100 back (2 seats at $50 per seat!)
The ballet was well done!! Talented dancers and good sets. The music was sub-standard. It need a live orchestra or at least a good soundtrack and speakers that weren't blown. We enjoyed the experience anyways.
The reindeer were cute and the main dancing by the ballet company was great. Very well presented.
Mid way through the ballet, the sound equipment faultered. One dance was completed with the wrong muisc while the other was done with no music. The story line of the ballet was also altered, and not for the better.
The music was definitely a big problem though but the dancers persevered with grace and beauty
Disappointed. Ok performance. There was technical issues in the middle of the performance.
Beautiful costumes and scenery. A very nice time for parents and children both! We have found our new yearly Christmas tradition!
