About

Disney’s ALADDIN is a dazzling and extravagant showcase of special effects — including a flying magic carpet during “A Whole New World” — as well as glittering-gold costumes and art deco-style sets that mirror the grandeur of a Busby Berkeley musical. One of Broadway’s most popular musical comedies, the show opened at the legendary New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014, and has since broken numerous house records (grossing over $500 million on Broadway). Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken composed the show’s music. The lyrics are by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), as well as three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice and six-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin. The book is by Beguelin and direction/choreography is by two-time Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw.

  • Spectacular doesn’t even begin to describe it

by RCash on 12/1/25New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Wow! What an amazing show. The sets, performance and costumes exceeded our expectations. My whole family wants to see it again. I would recommend a lower level so you can enjoy the magic!!

  • Worth seeing it

Seating Gradient is Steep Buy good seats (likely higher up or closer to the center) to mitigate the difficulty in viewing. Poor Visibility from Standard Seats Recommendation: Prioritize better seating sections even if they cost more, as this directly impacts the experience. Small Seat Size Recommendation: Be aware if you require more space or plan to sit for a long duration. Showtime Preference (If Adult-Only): If you are not bringing children, the "night show"is recommended. Recommendation: Plan to attend an evening performance for a likely more suitable audience/atmosphere. Overall Show Quality: The show itself is rated as "really nice"and a positive experience, despite the venue issues.

  • Fantastic show!

by Chelsea on 11/26/25New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was my first time seeing the show. Aladdin exceeded all of my expectations in the best way! Absolutely beautiful stage set. All of the cast were phenomenal and I ESPECIALLY loved Genie! It's the perfect holiday show for family/friends/loved ones. The staff were so kind and happy to assist. I left the show still singing the songs and talking about it for days after. An amazing experience that I definitely plan to do again

  • Exciting!

by Tina on 11/24/25New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The theatre was gorgeous and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. The play was very entertaining and we loved the set! Seats were very cramped though. No leg room at all and extremely close to each other. We did sit in the top balcony tickets were a little cheaper. Maybe more you pay the better the seats.

I went with my son to a wheelchair-accessible area, as he uses one, and we were delighted. The show was fantastic. The staff were exceptional. 100% recommended

  • Great as always but missing the OG Genie Vibes

by sl on 11/20/25New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Probably my 6-7 time watching this musical and I’ve got to say that the genie was good no doubt, but he had his own character which was stronger than the how “Genie” was suppose to be portrayed. Good show nonetheless!

  • A magical experience!

by Di on 11/18/25New Amsterdam Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The entire show was captivating from start to finish and just pure magic! The acting and singing was A+ and the set, costumes and makeup were just awesome! Great for both children and adults- lots of good humor in between scenes and songs. Cannot recommend this enough!
