About

Disney’s ALADDIN is a dazzling and extravagant showcase of special effects — including a flying magic carpet during “A Whole New World” — as well as glittering-gold costumes and art deco-style sets that mirror the grandeur of a Busby Berkeley musical. One of Broadway’s most popular musical comedies, the show opened at the legendary New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014, and has since broken numerous house records (grossing over $500 million on Broadway). Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken composed the show’s music. The lyrics are by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), as well as three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice and six-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin. The book is by Beguelin and direction/choreography is by two-time Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw.

    Spectacular Show.

by JAD on 11/14/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

Well done. The Decor was nice, and the colors reflect the ambiance of the scenes. Live Orchestra added to the charm of the show. Very capable actors/actresses. Very vibrant and not boring. Special effects are nice. Good use of the limited space to reflect 3D scenes.

    Family Fun in NYC

by Melanie on 11/14/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

My husband and I were here in 2016 for Christmas and loved it. This time we brought our son (13) and our daughter (10) and they were mesmerized! My daughter is auditioning for Aladdin Kids at her school this month and she was so inspired. Thank you for keeping theater alive and well for this next generation! P.S. we don't want to know how the magic carpet works...we want to believe!

    Very uncomfortable and unsanitary experience

by Anonymous on 11/14/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

I was very excited to have booked a ticket with Aladdin but when me and my wife got there after being stuck in traffic for two hours. We were met with cramped seating and bear in mind I didn’t pay for cheap tickets. When we got there it was very hot and the person next to us reeked with the most foul-smell of body odor a few inches away. We were stuck in a very cramped space with someone who smelled like they never heard of body spray for 2 hours. And if you think that’s bad we were stuck behind the two tallest people in the entire auditorium and had my vision of the stage blocked by 20 percent. The entire time me and my wife had to duck our heads in between the people in front of us head in a very small space the entire time. I paid extra for good seats and didn’t cheap out and I got a very disgusting smelly seat mate and two very good obnoxious couple in front of us were also talking to each other the whole time and blocking our view to the stage.

    An incredible experience

by Martin on 11/13/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

Best show I've ever watched live in the theater. Specially I enjoyed the most the performances of Aladdin and the Genius. Take into account there is a break of 10 minutes in the middle of the show. I strongly recommend this show.

    Great experience

by Sophie on 11/12/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

It was an amazing experience, which I'd recommend to every NY visitor. The intermission could be a little longer, there was barely enough time to go to the bathroom and buy a drink.

    Aladdin

by Kat on 11/11/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

The musical was magical, I especially liked the costumes and the scenery. The only problem I encountered during the musical was other people and their loud talking during the show, as well as the loud rustling of the food bags, which disturbed my focus on the musical. But I'm still satisfied with the overall experience.

Family Friendly Broadway Show Fall, 2023

by LuLunNYC on 11/9/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

We loved our seats, orchestra left. The New Amsterdam Theatre is beautiful! Loved the genie, he was so funny. Jasmine started alittle cold, but we warmed up to her by the end. The flying magic carpet was AMAZING!!! The set decor could have been more elaborate. Loved the tap dancing!!

    Awesome

by Nami on 11/7/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

I saw the same musical 2 years ago. No matter how many times I see it, it's still a wonderful musical. Last time I saw it on the 1st floor, and this time I saw it on the 3rd floor in the balcony. From both sides, it was a wonderful production. I’d love to see it again!!!

    An Incredible Show

by Florent on 11/6/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

First Broadway show for a family of 4, with 2 adults and 2 teenagers (16 and 14 years old). It was incredible, everyone loved it! The 2 hours and 10 minutes flew by, and everything was perfect: the actors/singers/dancers, the staging, the set designs, the songs, the humor... Special mention to the Genie and the song "Friend Like Me."

    Wonderful experience in family

by MathM on 11/5/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

The show is amazing, from the actors to the scene ! The location brings a lot to the cozy ambiance, the place itself shall be a tourism attraction. Only downside are the seats booking with regards to the shape of the room. It’s hard to figure out online and in real you can be annoyed by people placed in front of you and far from the scene.

    Very family friendly Broadway Show

by Big Sam on 11/5/23New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

Meet expectation. I listened to the original cast recording of the Broadway Show for a long while before attending the Broadway Show. The whole cast is phenomenal. The story holds a lot of traditional family values so it is very family and kid-safe.
