With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabama embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled "Alabama and Friends." The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama's country-rock classics -- including Kenny Chesney on "Lady Down on Love," Jason Aldean on "Tennessee River," Luke Bryan on "Love in the First Degree," and the Eli Young Band on "The Closer You Get" -- along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history, which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard's country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums. The band's core remains the same as when it was founded in 1969, when they were known as Wildcountry: Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass), and another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle). By 1973, the trio had decided to pursue music full time and they signed their first record deal -- and changed their name to The Alabama Band at the label's request -- in 1977. By the '80s, the band had hit its stride, moving huge numbers of concert tickets and filling their trophy cases with multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards.

They were still energetic, funny, and mellow. They have always been Patriotic and Christian and when they sang those songs the crowd was word for word with them. Who am I kidding, we were singing every word of the entire concert except for 3 songs. I didn't recognize them but they still had those famous harmonies and sounds of the past. About midway through the show, Randy announced they have a new CD being released in September so that is where those three came from. I can't wait to get it. Best concert in years; somebody told me it was raining, but I didn't notice.
The concert was great!!! ALABAMA was flawless with their vocals and songs!!! We had a blast!!!
This concert was awesome...just goes to show things really do get better with age!! Even in the rain I wouldn't have given my tickets away!! I would love to see another show and cannot wait for the new album.
excellent show. they were as good as they were 20 yrs ago!
Amazing concert, even in the rain! Luke Bryan was such an awesome surprise!!!
Alabama played all the great hits and sounded just as great as they did 40 years ago. They were all still cute, too, a little greyer, but cute. A little rain didn't dampen the sell out crowd and the facilities were excellent for an outdoor concert.
Concert was AWESOME......my family said it was the best concert they had been to (better than Tim McGraw). Luke Bryan being there just made it that much better!! Glad we went, Alabama still has it.......we drove 700 miles one way & it was worth it.
Still as great as they were 30 years go. Still sound the same. Plus having Luke Bryan come on and sing a song with them was a big plus. Outdoors and it was raining was the only bad thing about it.
Played like they were really into the music. Felt like they were playing just for me. Meet and greet was well done. Thanks guys for an unforgettable night.
They sang all the traditional favorites, even a few slow songs, that really brought you back to your childhood. The surprise appearance of Luke Bryan made the show's fire burn even stronger and promoted the songs sung by Alabama for the younger generations. Overall the show was energized, memorable, and unique.
Despite threatening weather, Alabama performed to a packed crowd that loved and knew the words to all of their songs. Surprised at how diverse in age the crowd was - and everyone was having a great time - but how could you not with such great, great music playing!
We loved the show..The first concert I have been to that I knew all of the words to the songs. We were glad the rain held off. There were a few faves they didn't do,but we would have been there all night for that.
An excellent concert! The group did a super job, playing all of those old favorites that bring back so many memories of years gone by. The singing, interacting with the crowd, and overall showmanship was great!
Alabama sounded as good and as vibrant as they did 30 years ago when I last heard them.
My experience was very amazing. It rained the whole time but they still came out and performed :)
I have followed Alabama for years and they still have a great show.
Wow!!! Growing up with them made this a hundred times better since my mom couldn't be here.
This was my husband's birthday present. Alabama is Awesome and Always will be, just wish one day I could take my husband to meet them like his dad got to do once.
Aaron Parker and Alabama were AWESOME! The surprise visit from Luke Bryan made it even better!!
