The host was weird and not funny. The room was just awkwardly silent. Al was OK.

About
Best known as a correspondent on THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, homegrown SF comedian Al Madrigal's stand-up career took off when he won a JURY AWARD FOR BEST STAND-UP COMIC at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. He's performed stand-up multiple times on THE TONIGHT SHOW, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and CONAN O'BRIEN. His first one hour special, WHY IS THE RABBIT CRYING? premiered on Comedy Central and was named one of the top 10 comedy specials of that year by both Westword and The Village Voice. Just after his award-winning docu-comedy HALF LIKE ME was released, his next comedy special, SHRIMPIN' AIN'T EASY was named in Decider and Vulture's top 10 lists. In an article titled "The Best Stand-Up TV Right Now," Rolling Stone Magazine said, "The Daily Show alum spins comedy gold."
Most recently, Madrigal played Oscar on the NBC comedy LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ. In addition to being an actor on numerous TV shows including CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, BOB'S BURGERS, and ST. DENIS MEDICAL Madrigal's many film credits include AIR and THE WAY BACK with Ben Affleck and NIGHT SCHOOL alongside Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.

Al Madrigal Disappointing
by AlMadrigalFan on 5/31/16Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoRating: 2 out of 5Not sure who decides on the lead up comedians but the ones for the San Francisco show were not funny. It was crickets in the room which is very uncomfortable. So, you can imagine the great expectations for Al Madrigal was HUGE. He started off strong with new material but then the 2nd half reverted to material he covered in his last visit to the Bay Area. He is a smart funny comedian but fell short with reusing material.
Hilarious - especially if you have kids
by JennSF on 5/26/15Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5The title should say it all - he was spectacular. If you're under 30, you may not get many of his references, and if you don't hang out with kids, some of the humor will be lost on you. Lucky for me I was his target audience. I would absolutely see him again.
not funny
by honestreviewar on 5/26/15Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoRating: 2 out of 5I went with the best of intents to have a good laugh... the previous comedian was great, lots of laughs, great stories, great jokes, Al unfortunately fell short... he was obsessed with a heckler in the audience, his stories were not funny and it was not just my observation... the croud was quiet... very quiet... Now Al is great on the Daily Show, has some great thougts but as a standup, he fell short, Sorry... I wanted this to be fun, it just wasn't
Funny Man with great stories.
by AWESOMORTEGA on 5/25/15Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5I really enjoyed his show. He pulled from real life experiences and shared them exponentially with humor. I have seen his show before and was very happy to hear the new material. He is a fun comedian that I recommend for people looking for a good laugh. He knows how to keep the crowd going even with hecklers :-)
Al Madrigal was very funny
by SFSophie on 5/6/14Cobb's Comedy Club - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5I went based on other reviews and glad I went. Al was very articulate with great timing. I always get nervous when comedians engage the crowd, but Al was great.
