With the release of Love Ritual in 2010, soul singer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Al Green reminded the world exactly why he so richly deserves legendary status. Featuring a remix of retro hits and rare tracks, Love Ritual is a nostalgic predecessor to his 2008 album Lay It Down, which featured a collection of earthy, soul-infused songs epitomizing his iconic sound from the past four decades. Green's concerts feature a mix of old favorites as well as new, contemporary takes on classics, and fan excitement runs high during his intense, bluesy riffs and highly charged vocal improvisations. Lay It Down spawned a major European tour, with ticket holders thrilling to the singer’s low-and-smoky take on “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?,” as well as his gospel-powered romance anthem, “Let’s Get Married.” His newest release follows similarly with throbbing, gutsy vocals and pulsating rhythms.
As much a showman as a singer, Green entered the performing arena during the 1960s, emulating the singing styles of heroes Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke. Green hit the charts with “Tired of Being Alone” and his slow, sexy sound and charismatic interpretive style catapulted him to R&B royalty. After the platinum “I’m Still in Love with You,” Green produced a string of hits, including the iconic “I Feel Good” and fan favorite “Let’s Stay Together.” By the 1980s, Green made ministry a primary focus in his life but still found time to stay on top of his R&B career — Rolling Stone magazine included him on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Today, the Reverend Green is a fully ordained pastor who continues to go on concert tours whenever possible. With the release of Love Ritual, a new generation can experience the thrill of listening to one of the world's greatest R&B musicians.
Loved it. That Man can still sing. I hope he makes it back to The Lou sooner than later!!!
Al was outstanding! His voice brought chills up and down my spine! First time seeing him live. Will definitely go again!
Simply Beautiful as AL Green can sing! Was a Wonderful Concert..Really enjoyed it Nothing have changed about him but his age…He is still going Strong…Voice is smooth as Silk!Love him Always 🥰🙏🏾
Wonderful Experience! Great Show! I would love to see it again! THE BEST!
not only was the venue terrible, it is unfortunately time for Al to stop touring.
This was a very disappointing concert! Al Green hardly sang a full song - he either let the audience sing for him or his back up singers! He spent more time giving out roses to the ladies in the front rows! I've just never experienced a concert like this where the main person you are there to see sat down on a chair and sang sporadically. I feel like our money was wasted on this concert. If an artist can't perform the full song, then maybe it's time to hang it up and stay home and not take your fans money.
He was over 35 minutes late coming to stage and then left early. I expected more from someone of his caliber. His clothes were too tight on him 🤨
This concert was on of the best concerts I had been to this year. He sang some of his greatest 1 hits and a few others. The audience was so hyped up and they applauded, cheered, and made Mr. Green feel welcome. Please bring more performances like this to the Family Arena.
Al and his band were good. Unfortunately they only played for an hour. Worst venue that I have ever paid that much for a ticket. Do not see a concert at Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.
Al Green was amazing! I have been wanting to see him for many years! He gave out 100s of roses and much more Love to all of us. I love his heart for Jesus! What a wonderful guy! :)
It started with a big back up getting into the parking lot , that could be done so much better with a little more organization , this lead to us only seeing half the warm up act , so will Al redeem the cluster pre show , the family arena is a decent venue , so it’s all on Al now , well , what a disappointment, Al still has a great voice , but he has no energy to belt out a song anymore, he was more interested in handing out roses than he was putting on a great show , so he didn’t perform but for maybe an hour , I will never go to an Al Green concert again , I’ll stick to listening to that great voice on record, he’s 77 and it showed , unlike Clapton, the who and the stones at that age they still got energy, which a 300 lb Al Green doesn’t.
Great show! Both were wonderful. It was such a treat to see and hear Ms Bettye. Mr. Al was very involved with the audience, very welcoming as the concert goers flocked to the stage!!! It was very delightful and I may never see him “live” again. So glad I attended!!!
Concert was amazing but the venue was awful. St Charles Arena parking was badly organized and it took 1.5 hours to travel 1.5 miles to get into lot! It was mayhem. Never again!
The next event you have at family arena the parking should be coordinated better it took 1 hour to get into the parking lot and there shouldn’t be a charge for parking when they own their own lot
It was really rough, parking lot took over a hour to get into a spot. They moved everyone to the lower bowl which really packed everyone together. Lines to concessions were super long. Just a mess of planning.
Opening comedian sucked. No Angela Winbush. 😡 Al gave all he could not having the stamina to perform a full set anymore. Entire show lasted just over an hour. 😒Definitely was not worth the money paid for the ticket and parking.
I enjoyed the whole Fox Theatre experience but show only an hour, Al looked tired, love his music, want to hear him sing, not the crowd
I had a ball, really enjoyed seeing Al Green. He looked good and his voice is great. Keep doing what you do. God is great and good all the time. Love and hippiness.
Mr. Al Green gave an absolute amazing performance. His voice still sounds angelic. He’s been singing and performing since 1971 (he said it during the show) and he still does it oh so well. He told the audience that he was a bit under the weather and wasn’t feeling his best, but he wanted to make sure that he still performed for us. I pray that he continues to do what he loves until HE is ready to stop doing it.
His voice is still beautiful his health is failing everybody around us including me noticed he was having a hard time breathing he at times could not sing all the words the backup singers did it for him he started late and he only played for 1 hour and left the lady who was supposed to be the entertainment prior was not there they had a old DJ telling jokes first I'm concerned about his health I don't think he should be doing this to her and to spend that kind of money 200 plus dollars per ticket right at Christmas and Thanksgiving when money is tight I would have to say I was extremely disappointed the Fox Theater is gorgeous I've been there many times but it seems like they have worked on cleaning it up and it was absolutely beautiful so in a nutshell yes I was very disappointed five tickets cost us over $1,000 for a one-hour show to watch him struggling on stage to do a show a 1 hour show kind of unacceptable
